R* need to get their sh*t together and update one of their games, GTAO and RDO are stale as f*ck right now.

I wouldn't like to bet on which will get its update first. Even though GTAO has been waiting longer, RDO probably needs an update more. But who knows what their plan is at this point.

The way I see it, GTAO gets its update anywhere from May 2nd - May 16th and then RDO takes over sometime between June 11th - 18th, fulfilling their "late spring" time frame.

I was originally under the impression that GTA would get its update sometime this month so that RDO would get its in late May (three months almost exactly after the first one) but of course Rockstar works like they have no one to f*cking answer to so that didn't seem to go as I thought it would.

That's probably a good shout, maybe even too good. Those dates make sense to the point where I'm thinking they would be too logical for R* lol.

Just read my first paragraph again and realized there's no f*cking way they're waiting that long to release the next RDO update. The game is in a much worse state than GTAO and needs as much attention as possible right now. I wouldn't be surprised if the schedules were actually switched around for both games now that I think about it.

One summer and one winter update for GTAO and three/four major ones for RDO.

Not to be that guy, but if you would have logged in this week and done some PvP or Stranger Missions with the 1.5 Gold multiplier, you would have had your 5 gold bars by now. 😁

Why do you guys keep saying Stranger missions pay out more? The article just said PvP crap

If you would have actually read their post, Stranger missions, free roam events and story missions were paying out 1.5x gold bars as well.

I have to agree with you both - which is why i'm spending my time (and money) on other games right now instead of putting serious time into RDO and GTAO. Despite my constant grumblings on here i'm not that happy about this tbh because I still want those experiences... but when designers make them feel like absolute work, suck any kind of fun and enjoyment out of participating and take their sweet time while doing so, they don't exactly encourage me to invest my time over other more entertaining/fulfilling/rewarding games.

All the same limited stock clothing as last week is still available.

Either it's been extended or the social club catalogue hasn't been updated yet.

I think it may be best to just shoot this dying horse and start over entirely. I know that I haven't invested nearly as much time as many of you have, but I'd be willing to start over from scratch if it meant them taking an entirely different approach to the game. Not that such would ever happen aside from them deleting our characters and progress while keeping sh*t exactly the same, but yea, as far as I'm concerned, there's just not much they could do now to recapture my interest or truly impress me. It's a shame, but there's nothing I can do to change how I feel.

I still think it's a very pretty game, but I haven't even been tempted to load it up in over a month now. At the rate they're going, I'll be in my 40s and will have forgotten how to play or that I even once cared before (or rather, if) they actually decide to do something that I'll truly enjoy.

I love reading the posts and bitching about it here with you all, but my god, the more time that goes by, the more I don't even miss it!

What a lame ass game man..

Normally the available clothing updates on the social club catalogue a couple of minutes before the in game discounts and bonuses take effect.

If R* really cba to rotate the limited stock clothing, which was a sh*t idea in the first place, that's a new low.

Not that I want or need any more of it, just that the lack of effort would be astounding.

That's kind of what I think they're in the process of doing, being that the current version is still a "beta" whatever the f*ck that means in Rockstar's dictionary. All I know is that it does mean something.

Looking at the road map post and really reading into it lends even more credence to this idea. This entire paragraph right here sounded to me like they're in the process of really ramping up the content and overall feel of this game, similar to how Heists completely reinvigorated GTA Online:

F6m5PGL.jpg

"Advanced aspects still to come", "Evolve in its own unique direction"

Things like this really make me feel like RDO may just come out of beta by the next update and would explain why these last five months or so have been so f*cking dry. We haven't had any real content drops yet as far as I'm concerned, beyond the base game of course. The next update I feel will be the first to change that and probably the first they've actually been working on post RDO release.

Everything we've gotten so far was in the pipelines way before RDO launched, it's not hard to see nor believe at all. Ultimately, I'm hoping (and somehow thinking), Rockstar sees what's going on with this game and decided to work extra harder for the next update, explaining the unusual time gap between GTAO updates this year as well.

The priority right now is RDO.

Have a thiny hope for some release date for the next update on the newswire later today.

Expanding on my last post, the part where they say RDO will evolve uniquely in its own direction and how players will have greater freedom over time to really sink in and carve out their characters/playstyles over time gives me the impression that this slow pacing of the game is done intentionally.

Same way RDR2 started off really slow but kicked up a whole ten notches eventually I think they're carrying that over to its online counterpart for the first time ever. That would explain why it's intentional but the backlash reached points far beyond what R* had imagined that much is clear and now they're struggling to keep themselves afloat (creatively at least) before the next major update. They never anticipate the extremities of anything, that's always been one of their biggest problems.

Conversely, GTAO up til Heists wasn't intentional at all, they just vastly underestimated the amount of work involved to run an online service model like that and why after Heists we started seeing alot bigger more ambitious updates. I don't think it's the same case this time around at all, not with over five years of experience under their belt.

This time, the slow start is very much intentional and deliberate before they start rolling out the big guns and can finally call this game "Red Dead Online". They need the right amount of content to justify a full release after all, hence why I think they've been taking all the time they need to get it right. RDO wasn't even in full production until August 2018 according to some notes I scoured in this section so all this makes alot more sense. The base world was there, but the activities and everything else started being worked on shortly before launch. During the Dan Houser interview w/ Vulture in October 2018, he mentioned how he had to go and finish some mocap for RDO right after, showing that even on the eve of RDR2, they were still balls deep with creating RDO content.

Great post! I do hope that's the case; I just can't set my hopes up too high though because I've just been really not impressed at all with this beta and I worry that whatever happens post-beta will still carry a primary or very heavy PvP focus that will continue to force everyone into the same types of lobbies and where such things will be much harder to avoid than it is or has ever been within GTAO.

Perhaps an odd analogy, but I kinda feel like it's comparable to a very questionable relationship - getting to know a seemingly interesting and nice looking person who turns out to be a lot of talk and is always leaning towards one specific and often extreme side of a behaviour spectrum that I personally cannot relate to or identify with in any way at all. Oh, but this is just is the beginning - sort of a way to test your patience and loyalty, but don't worry, I promise that very soon and over time, I will make some very serious changes and I think you will both like and be able to identify with what is planned within these upcoming changes!

Sigh. I really do hope that I'm wrong, but they're so damned secretive, vague, and seemingly uncertain about so much that I honestly don't know what to expect or how long we are supposed to just wait around and hold onto these hopes. If it weren't for this place, I'd have just been done after waiting and enduring the same for so long, but thankfully I can at least read the experiences of others and be able to perhaps try again one day if I see something posted that catches my interest.

I guess we'll see what happens! :p

Yeah I doubt the ramming of pvp down our throats will change even after this game moves out of beta but I do feel there'll be a more delicate balance between PVE and PVP going forward. The next update sure does seem like a good indication of that. All mentions of new PVE activities and not one mention of more showdown or competitive modes, complete opposite of the last update really.

Maybe they'll alternate focusing on each between updates? That would be neat.... sort of lol. Ultimately, I believe the core philosophy and their intended game design from the get-go won't change much but we'll see many attempts to satisfy different player wants throughout the course of this game's lifecycle.

We need to be lobbying the f*ck out on R* feedback about PVE. If there are enough voices they might actually bend down.

I was actually impressed by the big loop they made when annoucing more PVE and feedback related decisions.

Some kind of news or announcement regarding the next update is just about the only thing that can save this week for me.

I'm surprised us Xbox One owners still haven't gotten the PS4 limited clothing, weapons, and race game modes yet. It's been more than a month since it launched for the Sony players, I figured today would be the day and then hopefully next week would be the update.
