ah yeah I know what's happening. You forgot to edit the newchar file. You've gotta go and edit a file as the readme describes.

 i added to the files gta.dat, and content.dat line of code. It still is crash. Anything else I need to do?
I had the wrong file newchare.ide. already working thanks

That means you didn't install the mod properly.
The game crashes probably because you installed the TLAD Russian Goon models from the Optional folder without setting up the newchar.ide properly that is needed for them to appear in IV.

Those models are used in that mission you mentioned (Hostile Negotiation). Everytime you come close to the warehouse the mission attempts to spawn the models but they don't exist so the game just crashes.

From my post above on how to install the newchar.ide:

This should fix it.

All of those steps above are included in the readme by the way so it couldn't have hurt to have a little glimpse inside it before installing.

also you forgot that the optional newchar can cause a crash in Bad Cop Drop, the best thing for it is putting the EFLC newchar in TLAD common and modify content.dat with this:

 

DISABLE_FILE common:/DATA/newchar.IDE
IDE common/data/newchar.ide

 

this will make TLAD to load the newchar from TLAD common instead of IV common (this in case you have The Complete Edition

Now that I'm most of the way through a playthrough with this mod, what I really love is when I forget it's there! Seeing the original IV versions of these characters is way more distracting than having them match across all their appearances. I'm probably not even noticing every change.

I have this very annoying crash in I Luv LC, when I approach Maisonette 9 to meet Armando and Henrique. Is it related to this mod? I know about the "Disable_file:newchar.ide" stuff, but it still crashes no matter what.

hey man, i don't want to try but have you fixed the hairs illuminations ? it happens when you import a .wtd in open format, the best thing for that is just import the .dds images with the OpenIV texture editor

Can Eye colour be optional? GTA V has a habit of f*cking up GTA IV's character's looks and even character arc's i wouldnt even remotely take it as a reference point, only Johhny kind of looks like himself all the others are incredibly off and in this awful uncanny valley levels of ugly aside of unique character models and only ones that are truly good are the main trio and closest family and friends to each of the protagonists everyone else looks incredibly awful especially if they are more like pedestrians. So please show me how to keep og eye colour and have it still working, last time i tried to restore hair and gloves on Niko by editing the libraries with openIV i broke the game so preffer to be shown a correct way... or ideally for the eyecolour to be made optional by default
EDIT: Also i think Ray Bulgarin should be optional too, his menasing look with his cheekbones and paler skin is something i wish Tbogt had. So GTA IV Bulgarin for TBogt and IV should be an option.

But it will completely bad compress textures.

actually, you can export to open format and the images will not suffer any bugs with the hair, the problem is the Import OpenFormat somehow f*cked up the hair normal and spec, you can place it with Texture editor in a unmodded wtd (for more precaution, delete the previous dds in the texture editor) after editing your dds normally like you always do, i did this with Niko models in TLAD and his hair no longer have problems with the illumination

the only problem is the player hair, since the normal and spec dds images are in a wdr files, you can't edit it without exporting and importing in openformat

i know this is a bit stupid or unnecessary but in the mission Collector's Item, there's this guy who spawn behind Johnny and in "Museum Piece is the one who's is at west of Niko when shootout starts, aside from the fact that in every gameplay that guy is killed for Niko, can you guys make that guy be already dead in Collector's Item ? like Charlie in Buyer's Market
