Do any trade prices actually make sense?

Is there anything actually worth waiting for or is it just a gimmic?

Given that there are 426 Arena War Items with trade prices & the fact the unlocks are random (you have to level up in the Arena 426 times to unlock all the trade prices), the odds are not in your favor.

 

Its up for you to decide for yourself, but for me its not. I did the math and decided to take the hit on the full price instead of wasting my time hoping to unlock what I want.

 

 

However, if you are currently grinding the Arena races to unlock the Pegasus vehicles, it won't hurt to wait since you're leveling up anyway.

Well, yeah. I mean, the game has been out for many years, and ye olde beards of the player base are long past the time they needed to grind to afford whatever R* might drop on us next. So when you have bought more or less everything you can buy, you may or may not turn your focus onto things money can't buy like get all Steam trophies, get all in-game awards, collect all npc modded cars, grind for the platinum SecuroServ trophy, Macbeth yourself to Kifflom t-shirt, grind yourself to alien egg supply mission, and then Macbeth yourself to get probed by the aliens and receive the ??? tattoo for it. Or, in this case, Grind Thy Ass Off to get Monkey Blista PV and/or Space Docker and Rusty Tractor Pegasus vehicles.

 

Some or all of above may sound incredibly stupid to a player who is sweating in his post op in an oppmkII filled session praying the van gets over the Vinewood Hills to make at least one drop before some sexually frustrated kiddo badabooms them with the orbital cannon, but to a player who has done it all many times over still having something to achieve might be the only reason why they still fire up the game. That and GTA comrades, of course.

There is a list of special Pegasus vehicles that can be unlocked depending on your Skill Level and Sponsorship Tier.

 

Skill Level goes up with consecutive wins. If you lose one match, it goes down. Skill Level 20 (which unlocks the Blista) takes like over 200 wins in a row or something ridiculous.

 

Your Sponsorship Tier is how man AP points you earn. You need many thousands of wins to get to 1000 to earn the tractor.

 

• Skill Level 20: Go Go Monkey Blista

• Sponsorship Tier 25: Taxi
• Sponsorship Tier 50: Dozer
• Sponsorship Tier 75: Clown Van
• Sponsorship Tier 100: Trashmaster
• Sponsorship Tier 200: Barracks Semi
• Sponsorship Tier 300: Mixer
• Sponsorship Tier 500: Space Docker
• Sponsorship Tier 1000: Tractor

You didn't ask about it, but just to recap, there are two separate rank/leveling systems in Arena Wars:

 

1) Sponsorship level that goes all the way up to 1000 and beyond. To rank up you need to grind AP. Sponsorship level can only go up, and it's what unlocks vehicle and clothing discounts and above listed Pegasus Vehicles, and after discounts run out, bonus RP and money.

 

2) Skill level that maxes at 20. Skill level is about winning and losing matches. It goes up and down, and it can go down fast if you start losing matches. Ranking up gives you fancy little stickers on your career wall and IIRC one-time money bonuses like every second skill level you go up. If you reach skill level 20, you'll permanently unlock free Go Go Monkey Blistas - "only" takes around 210ish wins in a row. Stickers will start disappearing if/when your skill level drops.
