Vice City: The Aftermath

I decided to share this little something I wrote once. While everyone was anxiously waiting for Shine O'Vice (a total conversion for GTA Vice City), I decided to write up my own sequel to VC. This is just made up in the form of a description, I don't have the patience to go through writing down each mission, even though I do have ideas for them. I'm mainly posting this up because I wanted to show a much darker side of Vice City, not all cotton-candy and rainbows, if you catch my drift. Another reason is that I want someone to tell me whether it is an okay concept or not. Here it goes:

Esteban Gomez, a former member of the Cholos, left Vice for Los Santos in 1984 after the demise and death of many of his fellow comrades. Half a year after the death of Sonny Forelli, in 1987, he comes back to his cousin to Vice City after his girlfriend died in Los Santos from leukemia. It turns out that Fernando is dead. A cop who is at the scene, Eddie Pulaski promises to help him finding out the killers if Esteban does some dirty work for him. He agrees and now he's slowly being dragged into the evil crime world again. Due to Gomez killing Cubans on those missions he gets the attention of Samuel Paraison, the nephew of Auntie Poulet, who tasks you to work with Haitians. Esteban works for him for a few quicks bucks but it becomes apparent that Samuel and his crew bringhim no where closer to finding the killers, he's just using Gomez in his gang war with the Cubans. In the meantime the protagonist also works for the new leader of the Sharks, who contacted him under a similar premise. Pulaski introduces Esteban to Tommy Vercetti and he now works for him to work off Pulaski's debt. Gomez then stops working for him after the debt is paid off and a deal between him and the Cubans goes sour. (Vercetti orders Gomez to do a cocaine deal with some buyers in Little Havana, but they are the Cubans, who attack Esteban and are killed by him as a result. Tommy decides to spare Gomez because he didn't know about his past with the Cubans but cuts ties with him either way). Much to his dismay, Eddie tells you about someone who is interested in bringing down the Cubans, an independent senator, Michael Saxon. You now work with him. After framing Robina and getting him imprisoned it becomes apparent that the Cubans were working with two other organisations - the Bikers and the new Colombian Cartel. In the meantime you also go out on a few "dates" with Cindy, Michael's daughter who suffers from depression. During some jobs for Michael you also kill Samuel Paraison and the new Sharks leader. You then work on two sides, for both the Bikers and the Colombians to find out the killer - Bikers turn out to be innocent and the Colombians are guilty. By the end of the game you help Eddie escape Vice City for San Andreas, who is slowly becoming investigated by Internal Affairs and grows more and more aggressive against Gomez, blaming him for the fact that someone from above is now watching him. The last few missions involve Esteban pulling hits on the Colombians in various ways, all alone, such as going on a suicide mission, killing 50 Colombians under 3 minutes with an M4. The final mission involves you killing the unnamed Colombian leader on Avery Carrington's construction site, ending the Cartel's actions in Vice City and pushing them up north. While the main antagonist is barely seen, he's not comparable to Massimo Torini from LCS, simply because he caused far more evil and the fact that he remains rarely seen and is unnamed, makes him even more intriguing and mysterious.

A major factor of the story is that Esteban is a criminal and he is very well aware of that, he knows it's no good but it's not like he sees any other way out. Even if there would be another possibility, he would ignore it and go his own way. Despite that he is trying to live a normal life (as seen on said "dates" with Cindy), his anxiety and depressive attitude disallow him from that, leaving him no other choice but to pursue one goal - find out the killers of his cousin, who used to be about his only friend in this harsh world that tries to paint life in the colors of a rainbow. After the story unfolds, we don't know what would happen with him (well, looking at the gameplay-way of GTA, he would be alive and well since we could still play as him after the final mission), but it's very likely that he may have commited suicide months or years later. He's the type of person that even if everything is going for the better, he is still haunted by morbid thoughts and can't let go of them. He is aware of that, but he just can't set himself to think otherwise.

Please don't quote the entire post unnecessarily especially when it's long like this.
