I'm hard to kill, therefore I cheat?

I'm on my way to Hamish for a stranger mission, I had just logged on a scant 5 minutes ago. I come across a blue dot posse and gave them a fair berth, but like clockwork one just scooped my head off from behind. I naturally test the waters and end up in a full blown shoot out with these three dudes. I do pretty good against anyone since I looked into cards. I'm only R35 but I like to think rank has no say in skill, just time invested. But then I hear them mention something about a switch out or psyche out? They had accents so I couldn't quite make it out. I even put my own mic in to ask. Soon as they knew I could hear them, then it devolved into f-bombs and 'were reporting you cheater blah blah.' which neither has been unusual as of late, kind of annoying. Never got my answer.

 

Sooo, the f*ck is the thing they're talking about? And has anyone else ran into people calling them cheaters and threatening them for just being a good shot/dead-eye user? Is R* good at vetting things or no? I played GTAO for a little bit, but that had private lobbies when I started and that made sure I didn't see a damn soul so I never had an issue in the first place. I have no experience in this and I do value my time invested in games.

 

To be clear: When it comes to anything involving player v player interactions, I do not cheat. I have no intention to, nor do I ever feel an urge to. For me, It is just a game, I do not care if I'm the best or not. It is a hobby I enjoy investing time to, and enjoy the moments when I do well because it was all me. I do enjoy me a solo lobby though.

 

Other discussion/question?: Red dot players, do you get messed with more or less as a red dot? I'm blue, I only shoot back after you kill me once, and I'm pretty sure I've never hit red dot before in the first place. But I am tired of this stuff starting to happen and if it makes me less approachable I'm frikkin' game at this point, or if just the people who try to kill you are somewhat... civil in murdering you over and over, I'll take that even.

I've been accused of cheating since GTA IV for random stupid reasons. 

 

I honestly think they are trolls, crazy or incredibly frustrated players (and a HUGE reason I often play with sound off listening to music).

 

It's frustrating. I mean sometimes people are just hard to freakin kill man! I had a guy I COULD NOT KILL because he was crafty AF. Had a bevy of hats he could replace the others with so I couldn't headshot him with one shot. He constantly jumped behind things and used the environment. And he was an absolutely LETHAL shot even at a distance so it wasn't an Auto Aim vs Free Aim thing even. Incredibly frustrating but...dude was just good! Praise.

 

I just chalk fools who whine like that up to "there's a lot of crazy out there best not to indulge them"

Its the dumbass and fun sucking ability cards, fighting someone with the right set can be confused with cheating.

 

I was in a showdown once and this guy shot me in the head twice or so, he was like wtf and i told him about ability cards and their effects. Said they were bullsh*t and i agree with him.

I give any dot a wide berth, if you want to shoot first well ok. Problem for me is that usually the "killer" (opportunist) then runs away or leaves the session. That's the only "cheating" I know of. If you wanted me dead in that location, you should still be in that location and prepared to defend it.

 

Actually, you can cheat with ability cards, by combining them with things like switch posse outfit or overuse of tonics. It's a very try-hard thing to cheat with, if you have to do that, you already lost the fight.

This is what I thought they we're talking about but I've never heard it called anything but 'Lag switch' so I was confused.

Not in freemode as I rarely engage in PVP here, but in showdown? Hell yes! Almost every game some chump is voting to kick me simply because I have a high kill count. Seriously, what do these clowns expect?! If you want to partake in a competitive atmosphere then it should come as no surprise when you encounter players who are better than you. Shocking right?!

Just curious. Why on earth would you even bother with the mic? Online gaming chat is cancer. If you held your own and made them leave or quit, isn't that satisfaction enough? I love killing posses (not humble-bragging, I get my ass handed to me a LOT too) with literally zero other interactions aside from shooting. It has all the emotion of an ATM transaction. I'm sure a good percentage of the time, they're having aneurysms from not being able to talk sh*t but hey...lol.

I remember the early days when the next gen versions and PC version of Gta Online launched. So many lowbie ranks who did not know veterans from the previous generations could port their characters to next gen took one look at me with my 200+ rank and all my stuff and thought I cheated to get all of it. I am among those whose rank got so high that accusations were thrown my way. Hell I even got them very early on when I was rank 75 -100 and among the very first to own an Entity XF or Adder. (Ah the innocent days remember those?) Thankfully thats pretty much ended these days.

It was more curiosity of what they were mentioning then anything, and I guess to try and get them to calm down (Be mad at me, idc, but don't make sh*t up so you can be mad. Hate that.) First time I've ever heard the term they used, even though I am unsure of what they actually said cause again, accents are a bitch sometimes. (I have a pretty bad drawl myself, so can't talk sh*t. Just hard to understand them.)

 

And not all my chatter is cancer. I've had enough okay experiences to pop on here and there. This one just really rubs me the wrong way I suppose.

Everyone gets high pretty much, anyways. My only issue with that is when I hear you pulling for a good 2-3 minutes several times in a row. Apart from the utter waste it is to smoke that much that quick, we're not in 7th grade anymore dude, mute the damn mic. I don't wanna listen to your cover of Yoko Ono when your lungs bitch out.

In this game, no, but I haven't really played enough and when I did, I kept my distance from PvP. However, in GTAO, it used to be a daily thing, often over and over again - especially when I played deathmatches and sometimes even races.

 

I've received lots of angry love letters and was told that I've been reported for hacking, cheating, whatever. Did anything ever happen though? No, because I don't cheat and I'm sure R* knows that, if they even bothered to look in the first place. I did have one angry girl with a floating bullet-proof helmet head and invisible body threaten to "f*ck me up for real and hack my PS4" after she lost against me in a deathmatch, but I just forwarded the message to Sony, blocked her, and obviously nothing ever happened.

 

What's interesting too is that I've received my share of the "get better internet, bitch!" comments before as well, but I've always had excellent internet and am usually connected through a LAN cable to the modem as opposed to WiFi. So, I dunno, I've seen people with obviously very bad and far away connections who bounce around like beach balls but I've also known people with less than stellar connections who appear perfectly normal on my screen. I think they were just bitter and looking for excuses as to why they lost.

 

I can't be bothered to even listen to voice chat 99.9% of the time because I'm usually listening to Spotify whilst playing and voice chat is usually not only a toxic wasteland full of people blaring muffled music and hurling racial/sexuality slurs at one another, but overall I find it extremely distracting and quite awkward in a sense. If people want to talk to me in the game, they can text me and I'll respond when I have a spare moment or feel like responding.

They are referring to those who drink endless amounts of Snake Oil (in RDR) or BST (in GTAO).

 

Perhaps Rockstar should look into banning performance enhancing drugs and strip the offenders of their kill totals and victories Lance Armstrong style.

That's a pretty moot point when you have Freeaimers who depend on using Slippery Bastard 100% of the time to actually turn their battles into a Freeaim setting. Autoaimers already have aim assist and Paint It Black. What else do you want? Freeaimers to leave entirely?!?

Oh no, please don't get me wrong; that's definitely not what I'm advocating at all. The comment about R* and performance enhancement drugs (tonics) was more of a joke/sarcasm than anything, but I'm of the mindset that the cards need to stay the hell out of actual job modes and be restricted to auto aim free roam lobbies only. I'd vote for their removal entirely from the game, but realistically speaking, that will never happen, so separate free aim and auto aim lobbies need to exist - the mixing of the two and only having auto aim is a terrible joke on R*'s part and I fully advocate the creation and existence of purely separate free roam (hardcore) lobbies and job modes where the lame ability cards aren't part of the equation.

I've wanted different lobby types when I first started but I'm starting to see where Rockstar is going here. You could have packed servers by simply trying to appease both parties. I think most people I've spoken to this about agree that it isn't working. However, I'm slowly coming to terms we may never get these separate lobbies and I'm okay with it. I wish everyone the best here though. I hope more things are done to make us all happy.

Same, I hope that in the end, whatever happens and is decided will work for most of us, but unfortunately the way things are at the moment have completely turned me away from playing the game at all; it will be three weeks tomorrow since I last played and I don't even really miss it.

 

I am a very patient person though, so I'll continue to just hope for the best and yea, vent my frustrations so they don't eat me alive.

R* games and weed go hand in hand lol. GTAO race matches for example: in between races is the time you'll hear a bunch of Doc Hollidays coughing up a lung. Hilarious fun.

 

As for cheating I've come across a few laggers...I don't get mad I just chuckle and move along with my business. It's just a game. Beyond me why anybody would go to the trouble of doing it tbh.

I don’t agree with this, dude, what counts as cheating is very individual is all.

 

If I’m in a fight, got killed and spawn with sh*t cores and no Dead Eye, I’ll eat a piece of big meat and chug a snake oil or chewing tobacco, and get back in the fight. No reason I should go into the fight with a huge disadvantage?

 

Also with the Posse Outfit ”cheat” - you do know that without the hat I take more damage than a player with another card, right? If I lose my hat, I swap the posse outfit to get it back, or get on my horse and restore the outfit.

 

However, even though I have explosive ammo I very rarely use it - that, in my opinion, is more ”cheating” and overkill. I rather use express and keep my explosives for true emergencies, such as when I’m being attacked during a mission.

 

I don’t see good usage of ability cards as cheating either. I actually think it brings an interesting dynamic to the gunplay and I have to up my game to learn how to counter them - which is why I f*cking hate when people are using Slippery Bastard which in my opinion is borderline cheating, but I’m trying to learn how to counter it with PIB and close up tomahawk kills etc..

Well that's fair use of tonics etc., I do that, it is part of the game, I said you can cheat with them, not that using them was cheating.

And that video - yeah, that’s f*cked up but I think it’s quite rare to use it like that? I’ve never come across anyone doing that in the middle of a fight.

Yo I'm a Freeaimer myself but we all got to get along. This Autoaim vs Freeaim debate is going to get us nowhere. Also, I have a feeling freeaim servers aren't coming since it seems rational they'd want to fill up the servers easily by maintaining a mixed lobby.

Funny thing is that getting vote kicked out won't stop you from joining that same lobby back. If you have a friend in that lobby or it's the middle of the night and there are like 2 race lobbies going on, then you'll have no problem rejoining.

And you can also use the recent players met to rejoin.
