Not to be that guy, but RDO was released around Nov 28th.  So we’re about 4 months in.  And in January (I think) R* said the game will remain in Beta for ’a few more months’.  Which could mean anywhere from 3-6 months or possibly even more. So hopefully they will remove the Beta title and add some much wanted content before the end of summer. ✌️

Just a minor correction, the first upgrade to tier II costs $350, so in total for each card it's $900.

I think it might be close to the year mark, some time in mid to late autumn, R* will want the full release before Christmas.

I figured because I was thinking the dripfeed was to stretch time as well to fix things and release something. How I see it is we are still on the same update and are getting it in parts after an announcement of all the modes and clothing items instead. Others may see it as we are getting an update weekly.

If they release it before the summer's end that would be dope and ideal, but we'll see. Thanks for the info.

No the game coming out of beta with just the content we have now wouldn't be dope.

That would be R* accepting the game in its current state as a finished product.

If the beta ends with the game like this, I'm f*cking outta here.

By the time the beta is over we would obviously have more than what we have now especially. Even this so called Spring update is still coming before it even ends. The beta is already going to have more than what we see now based off of R* plan for Spring and that is assuming the beta comes to an end at the end of Summer. So yeah.......it would be dope, because you also forget that the longer we are in Beta the more than can ride that "Beta" excuse. Once they release the final they will not have any excuses for lack of content.

I'd like to imagine R* has more co-op pve content planned beyond the rest of the story missions but I honestly really doubt it. At this point I don't even have faith that the new story missions won't just be lacklustre, rushed, half-baked bullsh*t anyway.

Ah well, I haven't played this trash in months and only came here today to see if they actually added anything of substance. I guess not.

@Accendo Agreed. I’m not one bit excited about the Story Missions. I’ll play through them once or twice with my friends but after that they’ll be completely unexciting to me, just like the first ones are. They’re just overly scripted, too predictable, and too much gun-your-way-through for my taste. They lose their charm after the first playthrough. Not to mention you’ve got to exit the session and load into them, which is just annoying to me.

 

I want more PvE though, but I want challenging Survivals, more Free Roam ”Gang Hideouts” type emergent stuff (think Business Battles, a bit of PvE with some PvP thrown into the mix).

 

Anyway. I’m not too excited about Story Missions tbh. They lose their charm too quickly.

^ Example, I just did a Story Mission for the first time in ages because of the Daily Challenge and just picked a random one because I don’t even remember the difference between them all.

 

Ended up in Tall Trees with the US Marshal, but I don’t know the name of the mission.

 

We skipped the cutscenes, everybody does. I commend R* on the work they put into making mo-cap for Online (both GTA and RD), and I like it that they’re trying to create a story, but I feel a lot of the work is wasted too. I don’t even know what this story is about, except that the woman I met in the beginning is out for revenge and I’m going around killing a bunch of random people.

 

People are rushing the missions. Thrughout the one I played, I kept hearing the Marshal behind me: ”Hey! Wait for me! Where are you going?!” like he’s drenched in sweat, trying to keep up. I had a hard time even getting any kills or any looting done before the second part which had us riding back to Manzanita Post (I seem to be better than average on horseback shooting).

 

Combined, it’s just a lot of hassle to go through only to kill a few enemies. I rather start a Stranger Mission or attack a gang hideout.

 

I guess maybe I could try them with a few friends and set rules (only use throwing knives and bow, for example, and don’t rush) to make it more interesting. But I know they’ll want to skip the cutscenes too.

 

Overall it feels like a dated approach to Online storytelling. I’d have hoped that R* would go for a more dynamic, open-ended way of storytelling; have us be bounty hunters or hunter/gatherers, creating roles for ourselves to go deeper into, which in turn would evolve into different types of gameplay we’d unlock. Less cinematic, strict, scripted storytelling and more organic.

 

I really like the fact that the Strangers are physically there, in the world. Maybe expand the mo-cap to instead have them walk around the house when you enter, have them cook a stew if you walk in at dinnertime, not sitting polishing their guns for all eternity. Have Mama Watson feed the chickens. Have Joe sentimentally look at a photograph of someone he once knew.

 

So much they could do that would make the world feel more alive and not just have us ”start mission, skip cutscene, kill people, skip cutscene, end mission, back to free roam”. But I fear they’re taking a rather uninspired, GTAO copy-paste route. Sorry for the rant.

I’d compare my experience with RDO at the moment with being in a bad relationship and wanting to leave but can’t lol

 believe you can Fast travel( to Your Camp ) for a fee. But you need the FT post at camp to fast travel-OUT

Looks better than up in smoke and spoils of war. Not as much spawn on top of checkpoint bs. Other than that it is exactly the same

My biggest issue with all the PvP modes is that it requires you to use your own ammo and your guns aren’t already clean. So if you happened to be low on ammo/have a dirty gun, you’re automatically f*cked. I’d rather we spawn in will full regular ammo. Any other ammo has to be picked up off the mode’s map, with it spawning randomly around for various guns. Every time you die it replenishes your standard ammo but you have to pick up special ammo again. Don’t carry it out of the game mode, and you can’t bring your own ammo in. Automatically cleans your guns too. 

 

It’d be nice if we could pick up bar fortifiers/potions/whatever they’re called as well.
