Different linings on different variants of the coat offer different levels of weather protection. Check out the social club catalogue.

I've been using a Winter Shotgun Coat as part of a cold weather outfit since it was first released, it definitely, 100% works as part of a cold weather outfit.

This week's featured bonus is a 30% XP boost on all Ability Cards. Ability Cards come in Dead Eye and Passive variants – Dead Eye Ability Cards grant special advantages while Dead Eye is active while Passive Ability Cards have unique Combat, Recovery or Defensive advantages- and each card has three available tiers. Rack up extra XP this week to reach the next tier faster, then upgrade the card to get an improved version of that ability. Ability Cards like To Fight Another Day, Strange Medicine and Slippery Bastard can all come in handy in Up in Smoke, activate them while you’re fighting your way to deliver an explosive package behind enemy lines.

Sigh. So this is becoming a blatant 'Pay to Win' endeavour, eh? Yea, good move, R* - introduce these sh*tty overpriced Ability cards that can only be upgraded by ranking up and that cost a fortune that can pretty much only be obtained by hours upon hours of endless, mind-numbing grinding and/or playing these PvP game modes that are all randomized (unless they are new or on promo) with high ranks who already have such a ridiculous advantage that you won't stand a chance and will end up rage quitting out of sheer frustration.

Honestly, this is all just f*cking stupid and I kinda hope now that this game fails like nothing else. I definitely can't be bothered to log in this week to try again or really even try to pretend that I give much of a f*ck anymore. It's all just a huge disappointing waste and I don't want to support it.

What’s the point of creating this huge amazing open world and then only release PvP modes restricting you to a tiny portion of the map? Each to their own and everything, but I really don’t know how people enjoy just shooting other players over and over again? I just don’t get any enjoyment out of it personally. I want to role play as an outlaw in the old west and do stuff outlaws do like ROB TRAINS AND BANKS.

I definitely agree 100% and this is coming from a person who actually doesn't mind PvP in certain instances (e.g. deathmatches, LTS, captures, etc. from GTAO), but not all the goddamned time and within every element of game play aside from just a handful of missions that have already become as stale as f*ck. In GTAO, you can set a variety of options and sort of tailor the experience to at least marginally align with your own personal preferences. However here, there are really no custom options nor the ability to play which game modes you want to play. Within these forced populated public lobbies, it's just a case of people exchanging kills and deaths over and over and over again because there's f*ck all to do in the first place and because the game actively encourages and promotes it from every angle.

I share your feelings though about shooting others over and over again. I don't understand it either; it's primarily why I refuse and why I've pretty much always refused to play GTAO in public lobbies unless I've adjusted my MTU settings. To me, just exchanging kills and deaths over and over again in free roam with others seems pointless and is as boring as f*ck. It can also be quite frustrating as a whole; I too know we're all different and enjoy different things, but there are times when I want to just to interact with others in a non-hostile environment or take it easy and just explore - maybe solo or maybe with others, but definitely not in an environment where it's just an on-going PvP warzone where it's just naturally expected that any dot on the map will just kill you over and over again for simply being there. This game seems to be trying to blur the line between PvE and PvP and as far as I'm concerned, it has become a complete and utter failure.

It’s like every other pvp mode. Turns into a team deathmatch where inevitably one team gets pinned down in their spawn unable to fight out because there’s no cover. Not all that fun.

Lmao are we playing the same game? 95% of the time in freemode players pass you by or greet. I‘m still wondering how some players seem to get in sessions where nothing but mindless killing happens. I‘d like that sometimes, but it‘s really almost impossible to find anyone willing to fight. But hey, maybe it‘s because I don‘t reflex-draw my weapon as soon as I see someone popping up on the minimap, cause I‘m paranoid he might kill me, rather than waving at them.

people are friendly af in this game.

Yes... unfortunately you‘d win little to no money, if you end the match quick.

Not sure, but I played mostly before the new blip system rolled out and I very, very rarely passed anyone who didn't try and start something or shoot me in the back after I thought nothing would happen.

In the limited amount of time I've played since the blip system change, I've tried to purposely avoid anyone I don't know. When I came back after having not played at all for over a month, a random fished beside me for like 10 minutes then shot me in the back and left the session. So yea, I'm hesitant about extending my sense of trust given what I've experienced thus far.

I can see your frustration and understand that.

I think when playing this game one needs a different approach when getting killed compared to gta. In gta K/D led to players avoiding getting killed like crazy, which really made pvp in freeroam one of the most undesireable things in gta.

In rdo however, I take deaths with a little bit of humour and actually don‘t really take it serious or care if I get killed.

Some lowlevel wannabe outlaw gets a cheap shot at me from behind? Ok, idgaf. My ego isn‘t scratched by it and if they get annoying I know I can fck them up. It‘s funnier to trap and hogtie them sometimes anyway.

Ofcourse this only applies to freeroaming when you‘re not doing a mission at the moment for example.

I maxed out my cards, leveled up so now i'm one of those high ranks. And let me tell you: After a while it gets boring being so much stronger than low level guys. I just don't find that fun at all.

They need to do something about this, otherwise i can't see this new players sticking around.

Now i need to go back to another thing RDR 1 did right: COVER OBJECTS!

Since most of the popular maps back then were in towns(Armadillo, Tumbleweed, Chuparosa,Escalera) or settlements(Tesoro Azul, Las Hermanas), both teams had enough time to respawn in peace, get in cover, check things out and play.

In RDR2 it turns into spawn killing cause everyone are out in the open. Freaking fields, woods, orchards. So yeah, cover objects is one more thing where RDR1 surpasses RDR2.

We're opposites in this regard; getting killed in this game annoys me much, much more than getting killed in GTAO.

I could not possibly care any less about my K/D ratio, but I am glad it was left out of this game for the reasons you mention. However, I feel there's much more to lose in a sense when being killed in RDRO because it wastes more money and the like, which is far more scarce than in GTA. In addition, it often rids you of the animal pelts and parts that you've spent time acquiring and the bars and cores that you've recently filled.

Also, I may be in the minority here as well, but I kinda find the choking death method/sequence in RDRO to be a bit disturbing in a way. It kinda just gives me an unpleasant, sickening feeling when it happens to me - some overbearing, unwashed brute more or less being on top of me and ultimately ending my virtual life; it's just, well, gross and I'd much rather watch my virtual persona being slowly stabbed to death or tortured than to endure this for some reason.

Totally agree and they won't if it's headed in this all PvP direction. These ability cards are obviously not going anywhere and I don't think they will be excluded from anything, regardless of whether or not they allow us to set custom options for game modes in the future.

That’s because most of the towns in Redemption 1 were designed for shootouts. Basically every town in Red Dead 2 featured some story mission with a big shootout. Meanwhile in Red Dead 3 most of Online shootouts are as you pointed out somewhere in the bush. They have a million little set pieces set up specifically for cover, but leave massive gaps along the sides and set the spawn points far away from the centre of the map [and really close together] which makes it extremely easy to flank around and just camp in cover in front of the other team’s spawn and pick them off as they spawn in. And there’s nothing they can do about it.

Does this still happen to you? I didn‘t lose stuff on my horse when dying since the last update!

I honestly can't remember the last day I played, maybe two weeks ago now, but during that time,  I managed to avoid all dots aside from the random who killed me while fishing. I didn't have any stored at that time, but from what I recall, I do remember losing them if I were killed on my horse or decided to parlay. I think in the beginning, you lost them regardless of how or where you were killed - at least that's what I remember for me personally, but what's supposed to happen now? Did they make it where they remain even if you're killed while on the horse by another player? I also had a carcass or two just randomly vanish, but that's a separate issue entirely.

Sometimes that still happens and it's frustrating when it does.

I actually don't know how and why, but I noticed it happening when you die more than 1 time while having animals on your horse.

I want to get in to this new Up in Smoke but get hit with the infinite loading screen. Even if its good though can we stop putting it in with Showdown Series.......sometimes we just want to play one game mode and not all kinds, because a lot of the modes are trash at this point.

Finally was able to get a couple of hours in on Up in Smoke and its fun, but let me put it like this. I like Spoils of War a little better, but I prefer the maps in the rotation of Up in Smoke a LOT more than the maps for any other mode. Great Plains is my favorite map right now, especially since its one of the few maps that have cloudy weather verses sunny weather.

It's the excact same game mode just in reverse!

Next update: Least Wanted. Everyone starts with 100 points, the one who reaches 0 first wins.

Guess R* has added all the original content they wanted since they are "working" on this kind of sh*t

Pressure Drop

So I just checked out the Up in Smoke mode.

I realise this is not the B&M thread, but this just might be the worst and most badly designed mode I have ever seen in a game.

You and your team mates respawn in exactly the same place, every time you die. This leads to a massive clusterf*ck the likes of which I have never seen in the middle of the map. Bags scattered all over the middle and after 1 minute of playtime it's just an embarassing mess right in the centre of the map. Add in the auto aim, which means you cannot even retrieve said bag without 4 auto aimed headshots blasting you away, forcing you to respawn back at the same place with everyone else to do it over and over again.

It reminds me of the first corner in a GTA race with randoms. A 30 car pileup and not a brain cell to be found. Except in this game mode, the first corner lasts for the entire length of the game, and you are forced to relive it again and again. And if you do somehow manage to win you will get about 100xp.

This is just absolutely terrible and yet another nail in the coffin that is RDO. No thought, no care gone into this at all. Just a mashed together game mode that someone took 5 minutes to think of and seemingly 5 minutes to create.

If this game mode were toilet paper, I would not wipe my ass with it. DISMISSED. But hey at least I bought a new jacket.............. resisted the drip-fed socks though, that cost 2 gold. LOL. It's funny, but it's really actually not....

So how long(roughly) do y'all think we have left of this beta? We are about 5 or 6 months in and it still feels bar bones. This game is in desperate need for PvE other than contact missions(we still need these too).

I don't think the update "later this spring" will take RDO out of beta. From what we know about the next update I'd say we'll get at least one, maybe two, more updates before we're out of beta.

I think it might be close to the year mark, some time in mid to late autumn, R* will want the full release before Christmas.
