Cold Weather Clothing List

Since most of the cold weather clothing doesn't work as advertised I thought a thread would be helpful so we could have a list of the clothing that actually keeps you warm in the cold.

Which cold weather clothing have you found that works for you? I will keep the OP updated with the results. And please mention if you have a male or female character, thanks ( :

Male Clothing:

Spoiler

It's all about combinations, I think the only clothing item that offers stand alone cold weather protection is the Bison Duster, as it's classed as Very Warm, other than that items need to be used in combinations to make cold weather outfits.

All gloves are slightly warm, even fingerless.

Millard Boots are slightly warm.

Pelt Half Chaps are slightly warm.

Sheep wool coat is warm.

Wool shirt, Union Suit and Donegal Sweater are either slightly or reasonably warm.

Sheepskin vest and the 2 fur Opulent vests are slightly warm.

Rutledge vests are slightly and reasonably warm depending on the lining.

Where coats are concerned, each item has to be checked individually as in the case of the Winter Shotgun Coat, the weather protection varies from slightly warm to reasonably warm to warm, all depending on the lining of each coat.

Female Clothing

Spoiler

Bison Duster Coat

Furred Gloves

Rutledge Vest

Morning Tail Coat combined with Furred Gloves and Rutledge Vest

Outdoorsman Vest provides slight warmth. Montana Coat is Warm. Pair them and the two are suitable for cold weather.

Woolen Sweater

Ortega Vest

Cavalry Gloves

Pelt Half Chaps

Millard Boots

Male character.

First of all, the social club catalogue is very useful, it's where I look up the level of weather protection for individual items when putting outfits together.

I'm confused as to how the whole thing works, a bit anyway. Like, if you have a load of stuff that says slightly warm - is the outfit overall slightly warm, or does it add up and make it too warm for hot weather?

The slightly warm outfits can indeed be combined to make a cold weather outfit.

Yeah it can be pretty confusing, nice thread idea.

And yes you definitely need to combo items, I wear riding gloves with most outfits so it's easy for me to overlook that aspect but after that it took a coat/vest/shirt combo to make an actual cold weather outfit (winter shotgun/rutledge vest/wool shirt).

Finding ways to achieve the desired results but in a non standard method, I like it 😁

I hadn't even thought about going that route either, but I do enjoy a nice coat at the same time lol. Thanks for sharing.

Coat, vest and shirt. The rest doesn't matter at all. Boots, pants, gloves and hats are inconsequential.

Woolen shirt and sheepskin vest work. With coats, you have more choices. Bison duster, sheepskin or winter shotgun coats are suitable choices.

Be warned, the winter shotgun coat has an ugly stitch on its back.

BUT THE BENZ

MANY clothing items have unnecessary, UGLY looking stitches, very annoying clipping results and questionable "designer choices" to begin with - which can arguably ruin the whole look of the piece. in GTAO for example, for female characters they never managed to produce a simple PLAIN white leggings. set your expectations to very low and you'll find a few pieces that you can live with. and after all, with only 3 outfis available, why have a huge stack of clothing!?

OT: doesn't it show anymore, in stores when you try on items, whether or not an item is suitable for cold weather?!

Doesn't appear to, seems I can only see that info when in the actual wardrobe. The only info you have in that regard atm when buying is just the brief description in the catalogue itself. Hoping that's a bug as it is a lot of help knowing what cold value a piece has before you buy it.

I don't mean to sound like I am sh*tting on the topic but if you make an outfit, go to Outfits in your Wardrobe and hover over "Current Outfit" it will tell you what the Warmth rating for that particular set is before you even set off.

Edit - To clarify, this will work for any combination of clothing not just preset outfits from the catalogue, Roles or Outlaw Passes.
