Cars handle differently in different versions of the game

Hello.

I searched for this on google and it led me no where, it seems no one has ever talked about it.

I regularly play the 10th anniversary version of gta vc, but this noon, I felt noatalgic and played the original ps2 launch version , its been more than a decade since i last played it, i quickly noticed that cars handle differently, in the ps2 cars are very light and turn quickly, steering is very sensitive, but in the mobile version, steering is heavy and not as responsive, i have to use handbrake most of the time to take turns, whereas on the ps2 even when driving at full speed, cars could still make sharp turns.

It might have something to do with the varying devices, for example, touchscreen games are difficult to master its controls, so they need to make suitable mechanics, but it's still a challenge compared to console games because the joystick is easier to adapt than a keyboard, due to the gyroscopic movement of the analog sticks, so you can make sharper turns or light acceleration with user friendly functions.

Keyboard is a little different. Try playing racing games without assists and you'll notice that it's impossible without trigger and gyro sensitivity. Getting the optimal start or conserving the tyres with a keyboard is not possible.

Its not that, to make this more clear , on ps2 cars oversteer and handbrake is not that useful, but on android, cars understeer and its important to use handbrake to have more control.

I remember buying a pirated disc in Latvia several years ago. It was a completely regular PC version, all the files had original change dates. But I've noticed one weird thing: the Rhino moved backwards VERY slowly buy VCN Maverick was literally flying at mach speed. I've changed the handling files and everything became OK. Other than that, I have been playing that version for many hours in the past and I have never noticed anything out of place. I've lost the game files, so to this day I do not know what the heck was that.

maybe the Frame Limiter was turned off?

Nope. I remember turning it on to pass that boat challenge, and I've never changed it back. I think. But I surely remember that after that Rhino I instantly checked an Admiral, and it was reversing just fine.

There were some changes to handling of bikes (and maybe other vehicles) iirc. Also frame limiter in gta VC on android is kinda weird. (sometimes it locks to 30, other times to 60 at least in my own experience).

Here is proof for every one who doubted me.

Also i would like to add, that ps2 version is like the pc version, i would show you that too if you insist, but recording a crt with a cellphone is not the brightest thing to do.

I believe that just has to do with the game being rebalanced/adjusted to work better with touchscreen controls, since touchscreen controls are by nature more sensitive than analog sticks. Or at least 'work better' in the eyes of War Drum. It may not actually be better.

The video shows the differences very clearly.

I'd say the handling of the cars in the mobile version is similar to what they are in VCS, and as VCS is the last of the III-era titles, it's got the "best" handling physics, I'd wager. I think this is were Rockstar got them from for the mobile version, if memory serves me right about VCS on PSP.

I've also noticed a handling difference between the PS2/PS3 edition, the Mobile edition, as well as the PS4 edition. All of the GTA trilogy games control differently on each platform, IMO. They control best on the PS2/PS3, with them all having quicker and snapier controls. They feel different, but still control really good on mobile. I don't know if anybody else feels this way, but it feels like there is a slight input delay in the PS4 versions. Also, bless you.
