I don't think Valve are being lazy, they're investing into their platform and making changes and improvements when and where they can. There's a library overhaul incoming sometime soon that's been in the works for years. They're making moves, but Valve have always pushed to maintain the openness of PC so even if they had a Fortnite fund of their own I don't think they'd go around buying exclusives. What they can do is continue to make Steam better and push it even further ahead of the EGS. Steam has so, so many features that are beneficial to developers big and small, a massive userbase of people who actually buy PC games 0 versus EGS's "85 million" userbase made up of almost entirely Fortnite players spread across multiple platforms.

The 30% cut might be a bit steep but there's stuff like processing fees in certain regions that are costly, they also take the hit for the production costs on physical wallet cards and there's no doubt more to it. Epic's solution to these problems is their Fortnite fund, or just making virtually no money from sales I gather. They're operating the store as a loss leader if anything, it's not a viable strategy long term I'd assume. If/when their Fortnite fund runs out and they still can't compete with Steam then they'll be f*cked.

I don't know, man, Epic has Tencent's money. That's a several loads of f*ck you level money. That's why they're throwing it all willy nilly at any dev that has an awaited game.

Still, waiting for the discounted version on Steam, cause f*ck EGS. Now replaying through Borderlands 2, which I never finished, to get a better feel for it. Man did I forget how good that game was. Still holds up decently in 2019, though the AI is absolutely rubbish.

- Gore is back, even more than BL1 it seems

- Elemental death still shown like BL2 generation. Body only disperses

- Cryo is still here while Slag is gone

Well, yes and no. It has been reworked into Radiation element, which acts like slag (increasing the damage dealt), but also deals damage over time, and makes enemies explode IIRC.

they claim there will be no micro transactions and yet the deluxe version already comes with XP and loot drop boosts not to mention cosmetic packs to buy. you cant trust any publisher anymore, they are all the same 🤑 guess ill buy this one when its gets on humble bundle for 12$ or when it gets on a steam

Thats all you got out of the reveal?

What about;
- Atlas weapons returning

- Sliding and mantling
- Increased response times
- Alt-fire modes

- Being able to use multiple actions skills
- Instanced loot and level scaling
- Classic mode for those who dont want the instanced changes
- SDUs bought with cash instead of eridium

- Auto collect for ammo

- New vehicles

- New planets

- A f*cking spaceship as a home base

and thats just what i can remembered off the top .

I mean, you probably shouldnt trust anything from Pitchford anyways after Alien: Colonial Marines, the whole embezzling lawsuit, the medieval times incident, etc.

He's also a real sh*t magician, so that doesnt help either.

It looks like they took the Borderlands formula and threw on a whole load of very good QoL changes and small improvements, mixed in with some cool evolutions like multiple planets, I love that travelling between planets is done from the players PoV as well. The big thing that's got me really interested though is the gun variety. BL2 was a step back from BL1 in that regard for me, wavy shotgun bullets, ricochet bullets, etc, but it looks like they've went mad with it here, the Tediore reloads look amazing. Think I might take the Tim Sweeney plunge and buy it day 1 on PC if I can find it at a respectable price, it really does look great..

As for the "no micro-tansaction" statement, it was horribly misworded (or misjudged?) from Pitchford, he was trying to say that they'll be doing the type of DLC stuff they did in previous games, so expansions and cosmetic DLC skins, and that they aren't doing lootboxes or that type of stuff. But it was worded horribly and it didn't help that he tried to double down on it after GameInformer rightfully called clarified what he said. I know Pitchford genuinely loves the series and is passionate about it, but he really shouldn't be putting him self front and centre of the PR push. Everytime someone puts a microphone in front of him he's saying something really f*cking stupid lately. He's become a real greasy little twat over the past few years.

Honestly I haven't watched the entire video, only the early parts (without sound even - kek). I even only knew about the Cryo from an article revealing Zane's skill tree.

Oh yeah. That sliding and climb are nice additions. And that special skill thingy that swaps into third person for a moment.

I don't remember they were selling cosmetics. Cosmetics are usually from the SHIFT CODE given away for free so far I remember.

Only strictly selling Story DLC and Character (and Moxxi-type of Arena for TPS Pre-order) last time, no?

My biggest concern apparently is the Golden Chest. They don't sell SHIFT code for Golden Key, for sure. But it feels they are affecting the drop rate in BL2 and TPS.

Yea no lol:

Golden chests weren't great either in my experience in BL2, and the pre-order stuff was basically sh*t after a few levels.

I'd just like to point out that loot drop boost was a preorder bonus in BL2 as well. XP boost relic was a thing also, though it was just a quest reward. Both of these were next to useless.

Actually, there was a grenade mod preorder bonus (Contraband Sky Rocket) which is absurdly powerful when used correctly, and it doesn't have a set level - it scales constantly. It's quite easy to kill yourself with it though.

Also, I think I've read somewhere that in BL3 you'll be able to level up your gun? Not sure.

In fairness to Gearbox, those prices are actually fair. $0.99 for a skin? That's actually reasonable especially compared to the $20 skins we get these days. That's IF they keep the pricing the same, which is a big if.

Yes, that's the standard price of a costume DLC back then in 2012. But for BL2, I personally think it's still quite steep price considering it's only a head and different palette swap on the body, not to mention that it's FPS.

Price increase is inevitable.

If they do increase the price I hope Pitchford doesn't have another meltdown when they get a load of sh*t for it lol.

Didn't read any of the reviews especially as they were handpicked by 2K but I'm interested to know if the mission design has evolved... at all. I got the impression it hasn't from what I've heard, which isn't a good thing to hear.

BL 1 & 2's missions were basically "go here, kill X", "go here collect X/X" or "go here, press this button". Fun in 2009 when there's nothing else like it, pretty damn boring in 2019 even with interesting loot and co-op.

Yeah, they pretty much say it’s staying true to Borderlands...but in this day and age is it really hard to switch it up? From what I played last night made me want to keep on playing, guess it will be a decent story run through with friends!

The loot still looks best in class for a shooter RPG from what I've seen and I hear the shooting is A LOT better as well, so that plus co-op, it's gonna be a fun game for sure. Just wish they put a bit more effort into the mission design if my fears are true. ARPG mission design in an FPS is pretty meh.

This could be exclusive from regional branch, but if you're buying physical, ask your retailers if they got something fancy to give.

This is a set of postcard packed in an envelop (the top one).

696LdRRl.jpg

Gold Weapon pack is slipped inside the box, so if you get first print you'll definitely get it, while VIP Super Bonus is an external pre-order bonus.

lJWa7vZl.jpg

Again, different region may have different regulation. So check what you are eligible to get first.

I didn't pre-order and in my country, pre-order doesn't mean jack sh*t other than securing a copy.

This is just a heads up. Because at least I used to live somewhere where retailers take advantage of pre-order to jack up the non PO price and sell pre-order code and bonus leftovers. :sigh:

--------

Anyway, game has easy mode. lol.

Lots of visual options on console btw. Such as gore censor lol.

Two additional co-op system:

- Cooperative Mode means loots and enemy are shared and scaled to player level

- Coopetitive Mode means loots can be wiped and enemy are based on the host's progress. (classic BL rule)

- Movement feels a lot like previous Borderlands except something is nicer... Sliding and climbing are cool.

- Shotgun has knockback.

- Gun manufacturer gimmick seems more practical now.

- Gore seen so far are blown to pieces, decapitation, leg dismemberment, arm dismemberment, and half body split.

- 3D map

- FFYL movement is much faster

- You can pinpoint a character or location on the go and ping it (up d-pad button on PS4)

- Character customisation comes with preset skins like BL2 and color schemes like BL1, except more detail.

- The same customisation goes to Catch a Ride station, except they have changeable car parts

- You can steal ride

- Apparently it's possible to shoot and kill the driver this time

- You can even inspect gun parts and how they affect the gun

- Returning enemies I've seen so far have new moves and behavior. Probably I'm just forgetting, I'm still in the beginning but everything is already chaotic clusterf*ck. I like tho.

- Selectable matchmaking region: Auto, Australia, Asia, NA, Europe

- Privacy settings: Local only, invite only, public

- Trade request: Friends, All players, Off

- Matchmaking: Campaign, Circle of Slaughter, Proving Grounds

- Roster (Friend list), you can peek their equipped gears lol

- You can add your player Status

- Hold Options button (PS4) brings out a wheel menu for 4 emotes, duel, and ping

So this isn't really about Borderlands 3 (apologies) but I want to share a success story kind of. I've never been a big Borderlands fan and I never got it. I bought it on sale a couple of years ago as the Handsome Collection and I'd heard all these rave reviews of Borderlands 2. I played the beginning section and I just lost interest. It's slow and I never gave the game a proper chance because of the beginning. My mood at the time wasn't good either, I was at a low point in my life so I chose a terrible time to try to play a looter shooter with a lot of hours of gameplay. Terrible time to play any games really. Flash forward to the Borderlands 3 release, I was skeptcal but I watched some streamers playing it and it looked awesome. I sadly can't afford Borderlands 3, but I thought "Handsome Collection is catching dust in my Library, let's give this a proper chance."

I'm happy to say I'm f*cking LOVING it. Even the beginning that I'd already played, it didn't feel boring whatsoever. I was totally hooked this time, the guns and the looting and everything. I'm into it so much more now. I'm so happy because everyone else loves these games, and it sucks when you feel left out and you just don't get it. Now I get it, I totally get it. I've been playing all day and this game is eating up my weekend. So f*cking fun.

Definitely buying Borderlands 3 now after I play through these two games.

Turns out that Crimson Lance does...

Spoiler

still exist. Which tells why Atlas corporation is back manufacturing guns.

And that Crimson Lance enemy types from Borderlands 1...

Spoiler

are now implemented on Maliwan soldiers.

Except the Shock element is pain in the ass; it feels like they still use the stupid OP Shock damage from BL2 generation.
