Not familiar with Hardsuit Labs, however Brian Mitsoda being on it sounds good. He wrote the Malkavian dialogue, which I hope they do again. I also wish they'd get Chris Avellone to provide at least some of that freelance work that he's been fond of for a while now.

Holy smokes this was totally unexpected, but I am really excited. The first game is rough a bit for all the bugs (however the game is still to this day updated with patches by fans), but in the end it was a hidden gem with one of the best vampire stories in gaming history IMO. Let's hope this one is not just a money-grabbing scheme focused on nostalgia.

This came out of nowhere, and it's shaping up to be one of my most anticipated games right now - every new bit of info about it just makes it sound better and better, IMO.

You've got Brian Mitsoda back on it, but with Cara Ellison as the other main creative voice plus Chris Avellone also contributing in some capacity. The folks at Hardsuit have apparently been working on this since Paradox acquired the license in 2015, and they're looking at stuff like Dishonored and other 'immersive sim' games for inspiration, mechanically.

It all sounds like the game the original wanted to be back in the day - as much a spiritual remake as a sequel (although it's a canonical sequel to Bloodlines, too). Every area where the first game faltered seems to have been accounted for in some way - instead of Troika trying to wrestle with modifying Valve's Source engine under less-than-ideal circumstances, Hardsuit is using tried-and-tested Unreal 4, some of the more awkwardly juvenile bits of writing are probably going to be a non-issue with Ellison involved, and likewise Avellone's presence should mean that there's some more interesting quest design than some of the less-impressive bits in Bloodlines.

To be honest, as much as I'm looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077, I also have a few minor concerns - meanwhile, this looks like an oddly safe bet, considering everything I've seen and heard so far. And best case scenario, I'll be wrapping up one binge of 'classic pen-and-paper RPG meets immersive sim meets pulpy goodness' just in time to jump right into another (or split my time between the two!) - roll on 2020, eh? ;)

It's no doubt gonna have some jank to it cause it's not got anywhere near the budget of Cyberpunk but yea, this really feels like it's gonna be something great. Never played the original personally tho I've heard how fondly people think of it, but the premise is awesome and the world building sounds incredible so far.

This in March and Cyberpunk in April. Good time to be an RPG fan for sure.

Visually, it looks not a million miles away from something like Alien: Isolation, IMO - and personally, it could have Mafia III levels of harmless (after many patches!) jank, and still look and play well enough overall.

I'm at the point where I'll take an interesting experience with a smaller budget and some necessary compromises, over a megabudget blockbuster made under awful working conditions, with so many unnecessary features just to show off how lavish and expensive the whole thing, all disguising a pretty bog-standard AAA game underneath, mechanically.

(granted, if Cyberpunk manages to be mechanically/narrative/tonally impressive AND a lavishly-produced spectacle, then it'll be the best of both worlds, with just the 'grinding poor devs into powder' thing that I could do without... :turn:)

Paradox Interactive heh? Man they're getting bigger and bigger. Good to see they put their shameless dlc cashgrabbing into good use.

Let's just hope this game doesn't end up as an Epic Store exclusive on PC...

What is really gold, game seems like unchanged in every aspect of original. All looks like remaster, especially this place on a beach under Ferris Wheel. If anyone remember there was a meet in Bloodlines, at Santa Monica pier, right before that scary mission in mansion, that's the moment of nostalgia.

The only thing that still unclear, but for me is important, will the Malkavian walkthrough be as it should, full of riddles inside character dialogues, unique gameplay and story. Really need to know!

I actually started playing the original just recently and I've quite liked it so far. The combat is very rough, but I definitely love the open-endedness and the dialogue. Looks like the new one might have a bit more fun powers to play around with. That is something where I definitely hope they take cues from Dishonored.
