I think the other gangmembers are doing stuff that doesn't ''affect'' Arthur's story. Like the girls sewing and things, some of them are lookouts for the camp during Arthur's adventures, it's already been mentioned that Kieran walks with hay and doing stuff with saddles (probably only his saddle, but with a bit of a stretch of imagination you can say it's everybody's saddles). Tbh, the only layabouts are Uncle, Swanson, Molly, Hosea (but he's old, so he probably gets a pass by the gang) and Dutch (if you don't count scheming as work).

True but it feels like they, for the most part, are doing nothing.  Especially when the camp upgrades are in the hundreds of $$ and it requires you and only you to make and donate the funds but hunt down all the animals and crap used in those upgrades.   Everyone else is donating .05 or a dollar and Dutch/Mrs Scrimshaw are constantly bitching at you to do more.

Everyone complains there's no food and with as many men there surely one of two of them could do some fishing or snag a deer instead of it a;ways being Pierson saying "Good, we were getting low."

I'll second not being able to take gang members out with you. Before the game came out I was really looking forward to taking some members out to go shooting. Especially jarring is how it seems you were supposed to be able to do this from glitches that can happen. And while R* never explicitly said it was possible, you can't deny that the advertising seemed to imply this was a feature.

I've whined about it before, but I really hate how you never had more than 2-4 people genuinely helping you out in missions. What irritates me most is how so many missions started with you having eight or more riding with you, but there was always some excuse for why they didn't end up helping out. Like in the mission "Old Friends," Lenny and Javier are left back to look out. But the one I will never, ever stop being boggled by is "Horsemen, Apocalypses." Half of the active guns are missing with absolutely no explanation ever given.

On a more petty and silly note, I wish you could walk around eating food at bars, that you could chew tobacco and spit it, and that smoking was more than a puff and then tossing the cig.

Arthur doing things in slow motion when you really need him to be quick. For example, I want to be able to pick my hat up quickly in the heat of battle.

Otherwise not being able to choose weapon loadout or drop weapons from inventory is a major annoyance. Atleast give us a stash box!

Pressing and holding A (X on PS4) and leaving the stick alone will allow the Horse to control itself and it will dodge the obstacles you are forcing it in to. You are not driving a car, you are controlling an NPC that has its own AI. Stop fighting with it and let it do its thing.

The answer to the shaking reticle is calm the f*ck down and stop trying to Rambo everyone. Let Arthur get his breath back and retreat to give yourself more breathing room. Arthur holds his breath everytime he aims (as explained to Charlotte) so you constantly throwing him up from behind cover and aiming means he has no breath and thus cannot focus.

Actually, no the horse will still sometimes run into things even then. Have had it happen multiple times.

Love the game but after playing multiple hours and completing the game multiple times these are what really frustrates me about the game.

1. How the horse's act even in cinematic mode when you are not even controlling the animal it sometimes just run into sh*t even when you are holding x/a depending on the system and not the thumbsticks. Like letting go of the sticks when you are around trees yet horse still seems to be drawn into them.

Even stopped trains that are on a crossing it runs dead into them and wagons as well while in cinematic mode.

The spot in the river where you and Micha robbed the payroll wagon and then the o'driscals try to rob you and crash the wagon if you are in cinematic mode and the horse needs to cross that spot on the river it just runs right into it sending you flying.

I also I really hate when you go to rob a store or something and you come out and the dam horse is not there and has just run off you then have to try and fight lawmen and stuff to get on the horse but he keeps running away from you because you are getting shot at.

2. The weather just seems so random. I love watching it come in but I have had it raining on the mission where you go and burn the tobacco plants and the guys are in full conversation about how the area is in a drought because it has not rained in weeks yet it was full on in the middle of a big ranging storm with thunder lightning and heavy downpour. Then there are times where even in bright blue sky with no clouds its pouring down rain.

3. Arthur wears a mask and yet law always knows it's him no matter what. Also, you do something and somehow a witness who is miles away saw what you did.

 4. The same button to rob someone is the same button to mount a horse. I have had it happen multiple times in towns and stuff while trying to mount my horse and next thing I know I am wanted for grabbing an NPC that was close to me.

5. If you don't do missions in order of how they want you to do them the dialog can be off sometimes. If you don't take jack fishing before you rob the Valentina bank he still says he was approached by the Pinkertons yet you had not even done the mission yet.

THE HORSES!!!!!! Running into nothing, getting caught on a rock & standing there forever, sliding to their deaths from 5', can't maneuver around/through trees on it's own, won't follow after skinning a kill, stepping into a fire at a campsite & catching on fire on it's own, when it falls on a hillside it rolls & rolls & rolls & rolls & rolls & rolls then it needs to be revived again, then it starts up the hill again on it's own, you can only have one extra (you can't lead one while on horse back), taming horses is not consistent, sometimes it takes 8 seconds, sometimes it takes 8 tries, they collide with each other then you have to revive one of them, you can't take the saddles off of other horses & use/sell them, sometimes you have to baby a horse so much that it goes to level 1 & then you can't get the stuff out of the saddle & finally, the fact that your horse gets skinny over time. The prompts don't let you know that you need to feed your horse more.

Time passage - sometimes you have to sleep, & sleep & sleep to get a certain aspect of the game to spawn, then you wake up & you find out it's 7 years later!

Iron site wobble - if I was a gunslinger & I wobbled that much I'd shoot myself! You have to constantly use you favorite Dead Eye potion over & over & over & over & over & over & over again, You took a game that was fun & made it so frustrating that you sucked all the fun right out of it! It's too much work, to be fun!

The bandit challenge #9 - it's not economically sustainable. You rob one guy & another guy sees you, you get 0.46¢ for robbin the guy (or you and up killin the guy & you don't get credit for robbin him & the bounty is $15.00 for murder), but your bounty is $5.00 for robbery, & you gotta rob $50.00 from the townsfolk at 0.46¢/person?

Head Shots - they should be instant kills on man or beast. Even if you graze their head, the concussion alone would kill anything.

Herbalist Challenge #9 - there's no way to keep track of the herbs that you've collected/ need to collect.

Same with #10 - you have no way to track which meats you've seasoned/ need to season.

Same with survivalist #10 - there's no way to track the fish you've caught/ need to catch.

When Self Defense gets you a Murder charge - how many times have I waited to see what the guys gonna do before I shot him. That's Self Defense, but you get a murder charge out of it! It's never Self Defense.

Wearin a mask & they still know who you are.

Killin the Law & your bounty goes up after each kill. Who is left to report the bounty when you've killed em all?

Why does you moral conduct go down when you loot a stranger? Are you just supposed to leave all that money to get eaten by a bear, a coyote, a wolf or a Raven, & you gotta replaced all the bullets that it took to kill the guy in the first place? Also, I've never killed a guy & gotten anything over $2.00!

I guess that's bout all...

A better mechanic would have been for the other members of the camp to roughly contribute a similar amount to what you do, but for the amounts to also be spent by the camp on general expenses that have little effect on gameplay, like maintenance on camp equipment, alcohol or even food or entertainment.

just make it do that if Arthur contributes $100, other camp members will contribute say $180-$220, but camp expenses will be about $200.  If Arthur contributes more, so does the camp, but the expenses also increase - the camp is flush with funds so everybody gets to live a bit more comfortably.  The amount left over coincidentally happens to be about the same as what Arthur contributes.

This would basically mean that any camp upgrades that affect gameplay are ultimately paid for by the player, but there isn’t this absurd situation where Arthur quite literally is responsible for 95% of the camp’s income.

The way the story is written, it feels like Arthur would  probably contribute more than his fair share, but there is no way he would put up with bearing that much of the burden.  He would start punching people.

The shooting physics of course. The fact NPCs can shoot you with a pistol perfectly every time from Blackwater to Valentine distance.

Dueling. God I hate dueling. I suck at it, but trying to depress the button halfway to fill up the meter and still draw, and aim, and shoot, just rankles me.

And while not a gameplay thing, per se, the time dynamic bothers me. For a game that's as immersive as this one is, the time cadence bothers me--too fast. Slow things down.

I used the Jack Hall gang and Limpany gold bars to fund the camp for upgrades. Plus I contribute valuables too.

With money, I only contribute $25 every time I do a job. Just press the not now button everytime Susan or Dutch accost me for not contributing much lol.

I refuse to spend hundreds of my own money feeding a bunch of lazy sods.

I use the 1 gold bar from Limpany and the rest from selling valuables and pelts. I like to stay as broke as possible to make the game make a little more sense.

Just spend all your money as soon as you get it on anything!!

Why the f*ck does it auto target a guy 50 yards away when there's some f*cking little bastarding cunt right in front of me...

Even more f*cking annoying, I got mauled by f*cking cunt wolves the other day because the sh*tty f*ckin auto aim that doesn't work (works properly in all the f*ckin previous games except the one they spent 8 cunting years on).

They had good autoaim figured out already, what are you doing Rockstar?? Work on f*cking gameplay for Christ sake

I hate that the challenges have to be completed in a specific order and actions taken before the next level unlocks don't count toward their completion. Why not just put all ten requirements for each challenge out there and give the rewards after completing the 1, 3, 7, and all 10 challenges?

Here's a great example, on my current play through I haven't caught 3 bluegill yet, so the Survivalist Challenge isn't even unlocked for me. But I have all of the camp upgrades, so I've met the requirements for level 2. I've also met the requirements for levels 3 and 4. But I get to do them all again because I haven't bothered to go fishing.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Survivalist Challenges

Rank Description Reward
1 Catch 3 bluegill fish Survivalist Gun Belt
2 Hand 5 animals in to the trapper or to camp $5, 25 Stamina XP
3 Kill 5 animals using a Varmint Rifle Survivalist Off-Hand Holster
4 Craft all of the following arrows: Fire, Dynamite, Poison, Small Game and Improved $10, 50 Stamina XP
5 Catch a fish in the Bayou from a riverboard, and while standing on railroad tracks $10, 50 Stamina XP
6 Kill a scavenging animal while it's feeding a corpse a total of 5 times $15, 100 Stamina XP
7 Kill 8 small game animals with consecutive shots of small game arrows Survivalist Bandolier
8 Craft a homing tomahawk, improved tomahawk, volatile tomahawk and volatile fire bottle $15, 100 Stamina XP
9 Catch a fish that weighs at least 19 pounds $20, 150 Stamina XP
10 Catch one of each fish type throughout the world Survivalist Holster

The auto loadout of guns firstly. If I want to take certain guns on a mission I'll take them.

Secondly the auto holstering of the back and shoulder weapons when on a horse. Again if I want to holster them on my horse I will. This is also stupid because as soon as Arthur gets off the horse the guns teleport onto his back again anyway. The way it should be is if you select the hand in the menu (holster) then the guns are holstered on your back and if you empty the back and shoulder slots only then should the guns be holstered on your horse.

Thirdly the fact that the off hand holster and back and should weapons don't appear in certain cutscenes.

Going back to the autoaim, it really drove me mad when hunting for the birds in the swamps. "Oh look, theres one I have been looking for for a week. Damn, it flew away. Quick, aim and fire! Why TF are you auto locking onto a gator no one can bloody see??" Meanwhile, the much searched for bird has vanished.

I think I have said it before, but the challenges of finding plumes and things, I wish the check list would show you x/y so it is easier to see how many more are needed to complete, instead of having go scrolling through the satchel.

The weapon mechanics overall.

1. Sometimes you fire and dumbass Arthur forgets to "re-lock and load" the weapon, making you waste precious half seconds for the idiot to chuck a shot/bullet in the gun.

2. You can't get rid of guns. At least give us the option to store them somewhere dammit.

3. Dumbass Arthur puts back his backside arms on the horse any time you leave.... And forget to pick it up. Got mauled by a bear because of this. Though that I had my Repeater on me, turned out I had SQUAT. Not even a damn bow.

4. Swapping weapons is so damn slow. I almost got killed by the Legendary Bear because of this. At first I tried shooting the thing with a long-scoped rifle (Springfield if you're wondering), then swapped to the Repeater. Master Arthur, in all of his unlimited judgement and wisdom, decided to take his SWEET F*CKING TIME changing weapons. Almost got killed because of your idiocy.

Not really a gun-related issue, but when buying something that requires something else like pelts, sometimes the game doesn't tell you what type of pelt you need, exactly. Like, just right now. Was trying to obtain the white, warm Chops you get from the Trapper. The game merely says "2x Perfect Sheep hide". Okay. Spent a day or so in-game trying to even FIND a sheep, nevermind a good one. After hunting two I went back to the dude and..... it's not the type of sheep hide/pelt it wanted. HRRRRR!

Also also, the fact that you don't have specific spawn points for certain animals, or that a spot marked on the map as a spawn point for an animal but it STILL doesn't spawn. Tsk, tsk, bears.....

Only new SP content is for PC

Please R*, make it a $5-10 DLC for Xbox. Hell I'd settle for $15!

I'm not buying the PC version, Outer Worlds, Pokemon Sword/Shield.... I'm focusing on both those games. And I'm also getting the new Ghost Recon, which I'm playing casually. Don't have time to replay through SP, not with how I get immersed into the game and play for 5 hours at a time

I'm holding out hope Rockstar releases the new SP content for consoles for free when the PC version launches. Hopeful I know but it'd be nice if rockstar did all of us who already made the game such a success a solid right?

For me, definitely the clunky and sticky feel of the control set up coupled with the in-game slow animations.
I HATE how outdated and un-intuitive the controls are, specifically a pin wheel to choose weapons and items. Its quite frustrating to have a pin wheel to use whilst holding a bumper button only to have to tap other bumper buttons to flick between weapons, player consumables then horse items, on top of that you then need to use shoulder buttons to flick between tiers of certain items... eurgh, i'm getting frustrated describing it!
GTA5 had the same issue and that's reflected in its old design. But i do not know how Rockstar made a triple A game, with quite frankly, sh*te controls. Also. I'm hoping that the pc scheme will be more fluid and hassle free.

With 2 to 3 weeks of playing, I think it's safe to say that the wanted/bounty/honor system is a tad bit annoying. Maybe it's just me being too used to goofing off and killing random people like in GTA, but eh, I guess I'll just turn off autosave whenever I want to goof around.

Like others said wanted level you kill in self defense and still get a bounty honor dropping for looting corpses is annoying too

Missions failing cause I want to retrieve a rifle or shotgun from my horse

Having to complete last 30 percent of the story with a huge stat reduction

Not being able to drop weapons

Being bitched at about the camp funds when they are in the hundreds GTFO Dutch and contribute yourself

I absolutely hated the fact that A) most guns are locked at the beginning and B) the story feeds you most of the weapons instead of making you buy them with the money you've earned. And okay, maybe C) the fact that we couldn't perma-drop the weapons we were given. I expect PC modding to take care of this problem, though, so that's something to look forward to.
