Least favorite V protagonist?

Franklin, and that’s not to say I hate him. I actually love his character, I just feel like he was kind of a third wheel to Michael and Trevor and was just there to be there. I suppose that’s why he has the most side content.

This is basically why I wished Rockstar made at least one story mode DLC. Hell, I’d settle for a GTA Online DLC where Franklin is a major NPC, like a street racing-themed DLC or something.

I wish I could remember the wording exactly but one of the times Trevor and Franklin hang out Trevor is commenting on Franklin as a person and actually spells out that he's alright, but kind of boring and not interesting like him. It's like they knew lol

I'm 100% sure they knew. Franklin is supposed to be the "middle" normal type guy. We already have two deranged psychopaths. I think the direction they took with Franklin was understandable. He also always seems to be amazed by the insanity around him(like in Dom's missions). It's like he knows he does not belong in this world. I think the character itself wasn't a mistake. I'd say he is very relatable in certain situations. If only they fleshed out his "bland" Normal character more it would be much more interesting.

Trevor is probably the best character for me but my least favorite to play as so I chose him. Franklin is probably the weakest character wise. Really wish they did some SP DLC for him to flesh his character out more and explore his past in the hood.

Im not a big fan of Franklin as he is just kinda there while the story revolves around a bank robber Micheal who betrays his friends and theres Trevor, the most god awful individual in the GTA universe, probably even worse than serial killer Eddie Low from GTA IV as Trevor is way worse than a serial killer as he is one and more, I feel GTA V is The story of Micheal Townley, Franklin is a reminder of who Micheal was and Trevor is his Shadow, someone who represents Micheals implusive violent and destructive nature the only difference between Trevor and Micheal is that Micheal still thinks he's a good person despite the horrible things he's done and caused while Trevor doesnt care about all the awful things he's done.

I voted for Michael as he is literally the most boring character to ever feature in a game by Rockstar.

 

With regards to Franklin, he actually had some potential. But his story arc and overall character was extremely under developed. Once they moved him out of his aunts house and into the mansion any development of his character had pretty much been abandoned and he would now just be a third wheel for the rest of the story.

 

Maybe they could have developed the storyline with him and his aunt, I kinda feel he should have been able to keep that safe house and have her move out. It also seemed incredibly unrealistic that he went from hanging around with Lemar doing low level repo jobs to all of a sudden being involved with intricate heists against private militia army's and such. Lastly all this I'm from the hood bullsh*t is insanely generic at this point, it's like the mafia and Mexican cartels...it's just been done to death through various forms of mainstream media.

 

I've already posted my thoughts on Trevor and how he should have been the only protagonist with the game revolving around his meth and arms trafficking enterprise in Blaine County. I cant be bothered to go into detail on that again but just look through my posts if you want to know more of my thoughts on that.

I voted for Michael but there's plenty I enjoy about all 3 characters, just find myself playing more time with Trevor and Franklin when I'm in story mode.

As game protagonists they're quite funny, I always have to laugh about the clichee jokes and their naive and immature mindsets, but as actual human beings - 
All three are really terrible and all three depict having a drug induced psychosis. Franklin is insecure, fake and seems constantly worried (weed), Michael has no spine, a drug problem and tries hard not to appear as deranged and passive as he is (alcohol) and Trevor seems to be constantly busy without control over himself and to only casually participate in the real world, living a reduced alternative to the average (amphetamines and alcohol), with results. Overall they suffer from contoll loss... guess why, they're computer game characters lol

Before playing the game, Trevor was my least favorite character, not only because not really knowing the other two but also because he is obvious harm.
Rn I'm playing the game again in order to spare all three in the end because I realized that all three are really terrible but also extremely funny, especially while one would know what personality trait a situation or a part of a dialogue would refer to. Also it's just a game and not solely there to project ones worldview on exclusively lol

Interestingly, all three appear as a stripping down of one personality to three single ones and attaching various apparently fitting personality traits to these in order to complement them. It just all reminds me of Freuds personality model and each character is the result of each one of the three layers having taken over on one person. It's just not the first thing to think of because they look so differently.

I like Franklin but he's kinda boring.. He reminds me of Luis from TBoGT so much, but Luis is a charismatic badass pretty motherf*cker who can impress every girl he sees. He's way more charming than Frank, even they have so much in common tho. The way they trying to get out from the ghetto, connect with rich and popular people and etc. Unlike Lopez, Clinton feels a bit... empty?

Imagine Lamar as a main character instead of Franklin lol. It would be so much fun imo.

Lamar's an idiot and a liability. Franklin might not have that much in the way of charisma, but he has street smarts which Lamar clearly lacks which would make Lamar an unusual choice for a protagonist since he couldn't even tell he was snorting drywall in a bloody drug deal lol. He's like that sh*tty drug dealer in The Hangover who didn't know what roofies were.

Idk he's a charming idiot. I agree with you, he's too dumb to be a main character of the game, but i'm 100% sure R* would change his personality a bit if they wanted to make him a main character. 

In my opinion GTA V seriously lacks in gang missions. I would love to see more gang wars.

The thing about Lamar is, whether he is incompetent or not, he actually does something. Half of the Franklin missions wouldn't happen if it wasn't for him. In fact, Franklin rarely has any drive of his own, he's always been led by Lamar, Tanisha, Tonya, Lester, Devin, Michael or Trevor.

Only choosing ending A or B makes him decisive otherwise C ending was all Lester's plan.

Good point, but I would rather a guy who may not necessarily always take the lead, but is competent at what he does as opposed to someone who tries to do something yet is always f*cking up.  I mean yeah you're right that Lamar is mostly the reason Franklin does things, but Franklin's the one who usually has to save his skin.

 

A bit like in GTA IV when Roman makes some bad decisions and it's up to Niko to clean the sh*t up.
