Issue Regarding Apocalypse Dominator

Recommended Posts

HCIRE

Good morning,

So, a few days ago, I purchased the Arena Wars DLC. Even though it is nice, I'm having an issue with the Apocalypse Dominator.

I have a good amount of modification on it such as nitrous, machine guns, spikes etc. and the main weapon being the biggest ram plow.

I personally love plowing through traffic but I've noticed something. The car starts smoking after about 10 wrecks. Is that normal? I have no armour upgrades so is that why I am smoking?

Yes, even adding the light armor plating upgrade will increase your crash resistance significantly. Add heavy armor plating for max resistance.

The reason for this could be because you did not purchase the normal armor upgrade before upgrading it to an arena ready vehicle. Once upgraded to an arena ready vehicle the option to purchase normal armor is removed for some reason. I believe all 7 upgradeable cars are like this, its bs!

It doesn't matter though once you bought armor plating.

How do you know this? Have you tested?

Im not saying you are wrong but I am curious. I know I read something about it here but I cant recall what exactly was stated. As far as I know armor plating and normal armor are not the same.

@Gaffamay have some info on this.

Yeah for Arena War Variant vehicles, there is no "normal armour" option. In order to get that, you'd need to use the armour plating upgrades. If I remember correctly, "Light" is the equivalent of the 20% armour upgrade, "Medium" is the equivalent of 60% and the "Heavy" is what gives it 100% armour.

Also worth noting, as pointed out, that if you purchase upgrades on a vehicle before converting it to an Arena War Variant, that money *could* be wasted, along with your time and efforts, as the conversion process make it a different vehicle. It's not like if you purchase 100% armour before converting it'll keep it, nor have any extra armour or resistance, and actually converting it without applying any Armour Plating option will in fact leave it at 0% armour.

It's a tough one for me personally... it makes sense to have "Heavy Armour Plating" as the one which gives you the armour and the resistance, but if it spoils the look of the vehicle in the process, it'll tear a big line down my mind as to whether I'd still buy that vehicle or not. I guess I can't have it all my own way though.

Wasn't it proven in another thread that at least some of the vehicles do keep their "normal" armour value (and other upgrades) when converted, even though it's no longer a menu option?

If you can find that thread and / or list the vehicles where that applies, I'll go online and find out for sure if once they're converted, they retain their armour.

But I'm doubting that's true.

Sasquatch comes to mind. Also it was a way of getting bulletproof tyres onto the Arena Slamvan.

Yes, I ran some tests with the Sasquatch and posted the results in this thread:

I have since also tested the Issi, and an armor upgrade before conversion did NOT make a difference in terms of bullet resistance. My Issi with 100% Armor before conversion and no armor plating seems to be fairly resistant to crash damage though.

What I'm certain about is that: [armor upgrade before conversion + heavy armor plating] = [no armor upgrade before conversion + heavy armor plating]

I'd prefer if the heavy armor plating had three different visual options, instead of the way it's implemented now, but I don't really care that much, as I've simply bought heavy armor plating for vehicles used in the arena, as well as additional "street versions" of the Issi and Deathbike, with no armor plating and light armor plating respectively. Photo of the Issi, which is my favorite vehicle right now:
