Why Sadie Adler deserves her own Story DLC

Deep down Arthur wanted to bang her and Sadie wanted it to happen as well... but Mr. Morgan just didn’t have the balls to do it, nor the balls to kill Micah earlier in the game, nor the balls to go against Dutch. In fact all he did was preach and moan

I have a VERY unpopular opinion - Arthur is one of the worse characters in game.

He should have jumped on that train with Mary when he had the chance!

He makes HORRIBLE decisions the entire game....

That doesn't make him a bad character, Just a character who makes bad choices.

It's almost like that's his arc, how he only cares for his gang and nobody else, yet eventually noticing how it's all crumbling, decides to try and finally make the good decision against Dutch's wishes.

He grew up obeying Dutch at every command, which is what Dutch wanted, someone who took orders w/o question, which was what Arthur was, following Blackwater, Arthur believed that Dutch had the best in mind for the gang, but all he wanted was blind loyalty, something Micah saw and exploited.

I would like to see her killed off, and a character so annoyingly poor never written again.

Are you obsessed with her because she's cyber cute?

Lay off the crack pipe son. That would be awful.

This. Blinded by the love for his family. “Nothin’ means more to me than this gang. I would kill for it. I would happily die for it. I wish things were different.. but it weren’t us who changed”

Hell hath no fury...

I can respect that other people may have negative opinions about Sadie but I personally see the opposite and Sadie has become one of my favorite video game characters.

The O'Driscolls didn't just take away her husband, they took away her entire way of life (with the help of Micah destroying her house). They killed the one person she loved most which in turn took away her life of living on a ranch. It's never explicitly mentioned, but I'm willing to bet the O'Driscolls abused her as well, and that kind of physical and emotional pain would do numbers on anyone who has to endure it. In turn, she was forced into a gang life she likely didn't want to be in, but at least starting out didn't have a choice because they were the ones providing her shelter.

Sure Arthur and the gang abide by the "revenge is a fool's errand" way of thinking because thats what they grew up with, but that's not her thinking. She's not used to losing people close her her like the other members of the gang were. They saw death around every corner, but Sadie wasn't used to that. If a gang killed my husband and sent me into a spiraling pile of chaos I'd want revenge on them too.

She was seen as an equal by her husband and wanted to be seen as such by the gang instead of being thrown into a stereotype. What's so wrong with that? She already had experience handling a gun so why not use those skills to help the gang when its needed.

I can see in this thread it's an unpopular opinion, but epilogue Sadie is my favorite version. She had 8 years to practice gun slinging so I don't think it's far fetched to see her handle a gun so well in the epilogues. We also saw that Sadie still really cares for John and the few members of the gang that are left and that she wanted to help John in his time of need.

Enough with this "political correctness" bullsh*t. Sure Rockstar could have been trying to appeal to more people by putting a strong female character in the game, but Sadie isn't the only strong female character in the game. Miss Grimshaw and Abigail are both very strong characters in their own respects (and cases could be made for the other women too) so they didn't just need Sadie to satisfy that.

That being said...as much as I'd love to see more of Sadie, I don't think a Sadie DLC would be all too exciting or anything new. At most we'd be hunting bounties as her which is something we could do as both Arthur and John

Grimshaw and Abigail are more realistic portrayals of strong women

Sadie is a bit of a cartoon character

Violent thuggish asshole, that woman

Yep, if she was a man people would hate on her..yet she seems to be one of the most popular characters of the game outside this forum and gets circlejerked over constantly over how "badass" she is

Yeah they fitted the time period better too, Sadie is like some modern female character shoved into the game.

That just makes him more human, a character isn't great or bad depending on how capable they are. Flaws make them more real and Sadie having more would have made her a good character

If Sadie Adler taught me anything, it's how ready I am for a Rockstar-written female protagonist. I hope that can be her legacy if she doesn't get DLC of her own.

Utter rubbish - your statement reads like that of a man who is afraid of women.

Sure there's probably been a push to get more female characters with more varied roles in games recently but they've generally been under-represented since the inception of computer games, and still are. To describe a few female characters who can wield a gun as an agenda (as if it's some grand conspiracy) is bordering on paranoia to be honest.

Definitely disingenuous and a complete douche by the sounds of it.

Afraid of women? How? Because I don't like seeing boring, one dimensional Mary Sue characters with plot armour thicker than an Abrams front armour?

Women have not been "Under represented" -

Games are almost exclusively designed by men, for men. Ofttimes with themes representing real life conflict, action etc.

Because I criticise *forced" characters like Sadie, doesn't  mean I didn't enjoy characters like Rayne, from Bloodrayne, or Lara from Tomb raider, Or Jill from Resident evil.

Game devs/producers have openly admitted to driving this agenda in gaming.

You're ignorant, is that my fault?

This would bomb.

A tiny minority would want to play a female in such a male dominated era, it just wouldn't go down well.

Rockstar are not stupid. Thankfully.

Definitely not.

Sadie was an annoyance and a sh*tty, pointless, unbelievable character that Rockstar made just to cater to the cringey feminist/weirdo trend that people are lapping up right now because it's "Cool" to do so.

Men are all dum dums and need to be told what to do by a woman, even in a western game. Obviously.

We all need some irritating, psycho widow on our shoulder to show us how to shoot a gun and put our pants on. Obviously.

I hate politics, but Rockstar made it political with c*nty characters like this. I wish they'd just concentrated on writing good characters like they used to.

I'd never buy that DLC, not in a million f*cking years.

Give me Uncle DLC any day

This. Uncle is a madlad.

Afraid because you describe it as an "agenda". Agenda is used in such contexts to describe something people believe to be a sinister conspiracy theory.

As for the realism, Sadie's ability in a gunfight is no less realistic than Arthur's ability to carry on moving and fighting having taken multiple gunshot wounds.

Your third line directly contradicts your second.

Playing as a female is fine if the writing and gameplay is good; never had a problem with it in Tomb Raider, HZD, Detroit become human and many other games.

If it's ridiculous, it should be easy to counter and not take you very long.

You play as Arthur; just as with any game whereby you play as the protagonist, you are given health points so that the game itself is actually playable. This is a gameplay mechanic.

You do not play as Sadie; her gunslinging ability is related to story. Therefore it is a story mechanic. That her gunslinging ability is already on a par with the seasoned veterans of the gang is something which people find questionable.

You are comparing apples to oranges. I don't know how this isn't obvious to you.

Sorry, it isn't obvious to me either.

Her gunslinging ability? She aims, pulls trigger, kills target sometimes. Where is there special ability in that? Not like she is Johnny Ringo, Doc Holiday or Wild Bill Hickock, with lightning fast reflexes that takes years to hone.

She just shoots and kills the 'bad guys'. Just like any grunt who goes to war. No fast draw high noon type gunplay.

Edit: So she has nothing to lose as she already lost everything. So yea, she is edgy as hell and prob a bit nuts too.

I do love me some Sadie!

Anyhow, my $0.02 worth!

It's not like she went from being Charlotte Balfour to becoming Landon Ricketts. She had prior experience handling a gun and was only improved over the months she spent with the gang and even more so in the years between chapter 6 and the epilogue

The point was neither are terribly realistic. So it seems kind of flawed to criticise the Apple for being unrealistic but then be totally accepting of the fact the Orange is also unrealistic in it's own way. But in my book, it's fine to overlook both, as it's a fun game and a fun story.

There's nothing about Sadie that makes her obviously more of a crack shot versus the seasoned members of the gang, e.g. Dutch, John, Micah, Javier, Charles etc. She takes out a fair few unnamed bad guys but it's somewhat akin to princess Leia (or any other character) mowing down storm troopers in Star Wars. In movies and games alike named characters (whether male or female) always have bonus health points and accuracy versus the anonymous ones. That's nothing new.

Ain't like she's got Micah's bullet-dodging abilities. 🤣

I do agree there's good room for more depth but it's gotten a bit silly with how far some look into it all too. Maybe a Sadie story is more needed than other characters. :)

Funny that. I'm all but certain R* would have been crucified if we couldn't create a female online chatacter. There's so many out there and many created by men too.

If the story is good, and R*'s are all for me to date, though I've not played Bully, I really don't care who the lead is I'm playing as. As I said above, I do agree there's room for more Sadie story development, but that's a good thing IF R* want to add to the character too.

Just imagine a Red Dead game spin off with Sadie Adler as a lead protagonist, but R* will never do it.

I think it would have been announced by now. Could have been great. I don't see it happening at this point. People have moved on. At least we have RDR2. One of the best games of the generation!

Yup I agree , even a single player DLC looks like it won't happen, money for R* are everything unfortunately.
