2-Step Social Club Verification on Google Chrome - A Tutorial

For those having issues with it and using Google Authentication,

1. If you have your Social Club pass saved, remember that its linked to your email address and not your username.

2. Be sure to enter your Authentication Code BEFORE you re-enter your Social Club password.

3. SIGN OUT OF SOCIAL CLUB.

4. Sign back in and re-enter the Authentication Code when prompted.

5. Voila, it should work.

Just get and use Google Authenticator for your phone, painless and useful elsewhere.

In Authy, by pressing the Settings (small gear top left), you'll be able to change your phone number.

In terms of the phone version for verification... no idea.

1) Change phone number?

The Microsoft Authenticator app doesn't require a phone number.

2) Change phone? + 3) Hard reset phone?

You can remove the 2-step verification system form the Social Club.

Open social club > settings > 2-step verification > remove.

Still getting failed authentication using Authy and Google Chrome.

Me too. Balls to it now. They can keep their money and their gold bars. It's a social club site for a video game at the end of the day, who needs the ball ache....

I kinda wished Google Authenticator had time-based codes sync with your Google account... and not just the application itself. Easy way to lose accounts when you lose the app or your phone.

I know it would make it so much simpler and safer. On the bright side, R* support was quick to help me get back in to my account once I proved I was who I said I was.

Still getting failed error, submitted a ticket, have no expectations of success.

OK, as a last resort I made a second account in Authy (called it Social Club 2) and began all over, I think this might have worked finally.

Hopefully won't have to do this again.

In the time it would take to get the weirdest 2-step verification system I've ever seen work, I could just make 500,000. Here's how you do 2 step verification:

#1: Enter your cell number

#2: Get code and enter into site

If the system itself takes more steps to implement than are in it's name, you're doing something wrong.

My issue was with using Google Chrome to simulate a cel phone, which I do not own, and I was not going to potentially pollute my wife's phone with an app she'll never use (intentionally, anyway 🙂).

R* support had responded to my ticket rather quickly, I must say.

I logged in to the game and played a few client and VIP jobs (about an hour), then logged out and checked my email and there was a response from an actual person, not a bot.

I keep getting 'authentication failed' errors.

Same, hoping it's just on R*s end as I'm doing everything correctly as far as I can tell.

Why do you say this exactly? Doesn't seem to matter on my end which one I enter first neither way works for me.

Edit: also a bit confused on your first point, like my email addy isn't my SC handle, but it's still the handle I use to log into the SC with? Like the way you're saying that feels like you're implying I'm possibly using the wrong password even?

I am now having an issue signing into Social Club both on the web and through Launcher.

I am receiving the error: "The email address and password combination entered do not match any account..."

Strange thing is I can sign into the Social Club website from another computer.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Every time i enter log in the Social Club it asks me to put my email/password and after that my authenticator code. So i assume i did right.

However i didn't won the money yet, and it's been hours since i did this.

Happy Hunter

I don't know that I want to give any phone numbers to be honest, not unless I have to anyway. For some reason I can picture myself getting f*cked somehow with this too, like locked out of my account, getting steps wrong and having some headaches or something.

I can miss out on the money and gold bars, but I really want to know what "future benefits" are. Is it unique stuff? Stuff I won't want to miss?

Good thread anyway, detailed steps.
