THE 7TH DESIGN YOUR OWN MISSION AWARDS – NOMINEES

 

Welcome to the 7th DYOM Awards. Today we’re here to celebrate our Community by choosing the best projects of the past year. Below, you will find a list of three categories (containing their own fields of nominations.) Starting from when the topic is posted, you have two weeks to cast your nominations. After that, a new topic will be created with the voting for the nominated projects. Don't forget reading the rules down below, we have interesting things for this year.

Rules:

 

The 7th DYOM Awards will accept nominations of projects/designers in activity from 12/01/2017 until 02/28/2019.

You can vote at least three names for each category.

You can't vote for yourself, your own mission/storyline, your own topic, your own video, etc.

When you create another account to vote, you are disqualified and you will face hard consequences.

Remember, all awards are about DYOM modification, the DYOM subforums and the DYOM website.

Nominations will be considered until March 20.

 

What will change this year?

 

 

 

 

 

1)    The 7th DYOM Awards will have two steps this year: the Nominees and the Official Voting. In the Nominees, designers will have two weeks to choose at least three nominees for each category. The most nominated names per category will progress to the votings, according to the limits of each category. The limits were made to avoid a bigger number of options per category in the Votings, and also to allow that only the best ones are nominated to this final step. The list of limits per category is:

2)    In case of tie, exceptions can be openned and the limits can change.

3)    A new category was added: “Most wanted new category for the next year’s Awards”

4)    The second step, the votings, will be made out of GTA Forums, through a Google Form. This happens to avoid everyone to know the results until the reveal day. Every designer will vote one time for each of the options nominated in the previous step. To avoid frauds and cheating, security measures will be taken and revealed in the period.

5)    Once all the voting is done, a live on Youtube will be made to announce the winners of the 7th Design Your Own Mission Awards.

6)    In case of tie, it won’t be created a new voting and more than one option will win the category.

1) The Game is a Mission-Pack, not a Storyline. The votes going for the Best Storyline category won't count.

2) V for Vinegar is a Mission-Pack made in 2016, so it won't count for this year.

 

I'll be trying to correct some mistakes like this. If I miss anything, I'll count on you guys to help me out.

Most Promising Mission Pack: Age of Brutality by @Jack Muller aka Green Goo, Dark Instinct by @The Half-Blood Prince

Best Storyline: I haven't played enough storylines to judge.

Most Promising Storyline: I haven't played enough storylines to judge.

Most Wanted New Features: The ability to select objectives from a list rather than having to stand on the objective (gives you trouble when you have two cutscenes in the same place)

Most Annoying Bug: The invisible checkpoint bug. All other bugs can be tolerated or solved. This one is just downright annoying. I don't want to be using cutscenes to view all my checkpoints.

Most Wanted Category for the Next Awards: I have no idea.

Best DYOM Tutorial: Does this have to be from 2018? If not, the ones I use most are list of objects, list of new objects, and list of vehicles .

Best DYOM vídeo: Ghost Ship REMASTERED Chapter 3 Trailer (I chose Chapter 3's trailer specifically coz it's got my review in it. XD)

Best Topic in DYOM forums: Definitely has to be The Designers Lounge, you get to hang out with fellow designers, advertise your MPs and projects and have discussions (both meaningful or otherwise)

Best review maker: @Target13(read his reviews on Dark Instinct, Blockbuster, The Battle Never Ends, etc.) and @SatournFan(he can tend to be highly critical, but hey, his reviews are downright honest and trustworthy) and @omigawail (his reviews tend to be very realistic, and he analyses a mission's logic and shortcomings really well while also suggesting areas to improve)

Most Annoying Bug: 

This happens to me SO MUCH and it's annoying having to find out which objective is mixed in and which one is not. This also causes crashes too.

 

And that's pretty much it to be honest. I haven't been around the forums much nor have I been playing other people's missions that much. Good luck everyone!

Most Wanted Improvement - Well, after successfully failing the Web Design subject on university, I've got a lot to say about this, since I learned a lot despite failing to pass it. Layout (just a bit updated to give a fresh look, not necessary though), new features for members, new site features overall such as new sections etc (would elaborate rest to Patrick directly).

Best DYOM platform - Discord Server (brought back a lot of activity thanks to our most recently joined members)

Worst DYOM platform - GTAGarage, sadly outdated, waiting for update

TryingToBeFunnyButActuallyNot - Everyone saying DYOM/GTA SA is dead (its way too popular compared to it's release date, some people are making a lot of money with SA/DYOM content, it's being used by thousands of people, think before you write nonsense).

My Biggest Wish - A little more activity from our developers (Patrick's return gave me high hopes)

That is actually true. Close to 90% of the activity in the DYOM Discord Server is due to members who joined just in the last few weeks!
