Haven’t played GTA V in over 3 years, what’s changed?

I can tell that it’s a whole lot different and I’m completely lost on all the new content, can you guys help me out and give me a brief overview at what’s been added lol

Over 3 years... Well, that'd be around the Heists/Ill-Gotten-Gains period, right? Well... A lot is different. There's player-owned businesses - involving crate running, car stealing, and nightclubs - and a number of newer side missions, including another major Heist series. There's also been a number of race-focused updates, mostly using new extreme track building components, and culminating most recently with a combative demolition derby. There's been lots of vehicles added, with a healthy focus on weaponized and armed vehicles since the Gunrunning update, including realistic helicopters, planes, and military hardware as well as heavily fictional flying bikes and cars.

 

A better summary would probably be gained by checking the GTA Wiki's list of updates. It's, uh, it's a very different world, but still just as hostile in freeroam. War never changes and all that.

Seriously though, a lot has changed. Player "owned" businesses exist now and all except crate warehouses and import export garages have you "partnered" up with whatever npc the roulette wheel landed on that day. You can also now save the world from a crazy AI and it's creator, as long as you buy a facility. Adversary modes galore, there are a crap load of them now. Idiot proof killing machines have come out that do all the work for you and almost make up for the lack of skills people have... almost... Rocket spam vehicles often mean blown up mission objectives, so if you thought randoms with a savage were bad at destroying objectives, wait till you see randoms with oppressors.

The main change is that "businesses" added to the freemode lobbies have caused untold levels of angst for many people. Don't be one of them.

I've also never even played online what so ever so I wouldn't notice a difference.  Has much changed in SP?  (Not meaning to hijack the thread, just don't think it warrants another topic).  I've not played since around ~2014 on PS3 though.

If you are referring to me, I don't destroy stuff at all, even if the game told me to (which it doesn't)
