So the Evans Repeater is now for sale, thoughts?

Probably my Lancaster since I've got so much invested in it already. Engravings, metal changes, carvings, stock and varnish. As well as all the performance-enhancing modifications (minus wrap).

 I call her "Victoria"  😛

Disregarding time/$ invested, based on performance only, still going with the Lancaster?

I've been waiting to see what the Evans was going to be before I bought a repeater on my one account, but still undecided now.  If you had all of the repeaters and could only keep one, which one is it and why?

Lancaster because accuracy is most important to me.  The Evans reticle feels much closer to the Litchfield.

Yeah, I'd say so. You can hit as hard as you want, but it means nothing if you can't hit your target, and no repeater in the game (as of now) does a better job than the Lancaster.

If anything it feels like the lancaster's handling & accuracy got a major boost. Pretty sure it's gonna be the next "varmit".

Sorry, I didn't mean to derail it.  I was actually really looking forward to it.

Nah, it's funny, I come in expecting talk about how cool this highly requested gun is, and everybody is like, "the lancaster is way better"

Of course it is. Rockstar sh*tting the bed again

Lancaster is my main go to.  It fires fast, it's accurate, and hits like a truck.

Litchfield seems sloppy.  Aiming is slow, fire to reload is slow.  Not worth it in my opinion.

If R* is adding weapons, they can go ahead and add the Buffalo rifle.  Beast and a half.  Took El Chupacabra in one shot.

Figures.  R* cant release it when they say, literally make us wait for a weapon that doesnt meet or top the main guns.  Talk about wasted hype.  I hope they dont f*ck up the buffalo rifle.

^^^^^^^^^ I’ve always been a fan of Sharps rifles, they can’t add this soon enough.

The guns they make us wait for should be better than the ones we already have, not be a disappointment...it's almost as if the devs are trolling us.

Strongly, strongly disagree.

The belief that all update weapons NEED to be better than what we have is...kinda silly. Basically, that'd mean ONLY using one weapon (the latest update one), and removing all variety in the weapon choices. Yeah, the Lancaster is better than the Evans, but the Evans fits a different niche as a high-capacity, fast-firing, repeater (Hip-firing is awesome). Making it a Lancaster but high capacity basically removes the Lancaster from the game in most people's eyes. And thus, all the others.

Lets say they add the Buffalo Rifle. If it is more powerful than the Springfield, with a faster reload than the Bolt Action, then...who the hell is going to use a Bolt or Springfield Rifle?

Then again, that has been a persistent Rockstar problem (GTA V being a gross, yet prime example). "Here's a gun, now here is one that beats it at everything." RDR2 seemed to be doing better with different guns filling different niches. Still messed up a bit however (Carbine should do more damage per shot than the Litchfield for example).

Plus, f*ck if you actually LIKE the real-life gun design (Evans is, to me, a nicely designed repeater) and don't want it to suck/be OP.

Fair enough, point well-taken. I will no doubt get the Evans anyway, because I favor repeaters, and I do very much like the gun IRL.

I'd definitely try it out. I am pretty happy with the TLC they put into it (Aside from the cutscene glitch), with it having unique animations and a really powerful gunfire sound. Here I was, legitimately expecting them to half-ass it and they didn't.

Now I've done some pvp and hideouts with the evans. Its not too bad tbh. Can't explain why, but it just works for me. The huge mag helps of course.

It'll be my go to when doing hideouts.

Don't be surprised if R* buffs up the Evans and nerf the Lancaster in the next update, lol.

What stats you see in store are so different than when you actually get the gun.  After upgrading both the Litchfield and the Evans here are some shots of them both with Express rounds loaded in. Obviously 26 rounds per compared to 16 as well.  Though the Evans is slower at reloading all those rounds.

Repeater-wise (and going by the IRL specs), the Carbine SHOULD be the most damaging out of the four (used a higher caliber round), with the Lancaster and Litchfield being roughly comparable (using .44 rimfire rounds, i.e. Pistol rounds), and the Evans sliiiightly under that (used .44 as well).

Balance that all out and each repeater has its strengths and weaknesses, but Rockstar does what Rockstar does.

I got it, upgraded it fully and like it a lot. Have not used in PvP yet but it cleared hideouts quite nicely. I'll wait for that new car smell to wear off before passing too harsh a judgement.

I bought it only because of the looks and didn‘t use t that much since.

but it seemed to me as if it would combine the sloppiness of the litch with the weakness of the lancaster. Not the best, but the worst of both worlds. Lol

So why would anybody use this other than it‘s looks?

Complete waste of money combat-wise.

Not accurate or powerful enough to ever be optimal in pvp, but I can see the Evans being a popular choice for future pve modes like survivals and heists.  Great fire rate, capacity, sound, and it looks very sexy once you change the default iron finishes.

Happy Hunter

I like the sound it makes, though it feels like the aiming/accuracy bloom takes longer to settle down than it does with the Lancaster.

Cute cat.

According to the Evans pic, its possible to achieve max accuracy.. is this because of weapon affinity and splitpoint? I loaded mine with split points yesterday and didn't get anywhere near max accuracy

Evans shoot like Lancaster, the accuracy is similar. I could aim for a split second and score perfect consistent headshots without Paint It Black.

The firing rate is similar to Lancaster, so that's good.

The damage is okay. Similar to Lancaster. But if you're the kind of person who wants to hit hard. Then Litchfield would be better here as the Express is two shots bodyshot. But if people die to headshot, then damage doesn't matter.

The high magazine capacity is awesome. There's barely situations where I need to reload my Repeater. When I had Lancaster and Litchfield, I would empty the whole clip several times in matches. But I only needed to reload Evans from 0 zero bullets, maybe twice or three times. Because you most likely will die before finishing magazine. In Hostile Territory if you kill loads without dying, then Evans seem like a better choice. You could take your mind off pressing the B or O for reload. Or if you're the kind if person who doesn't or forgets to reload often, Evans is a better choice. I know the reloading animation for 26 rounds is long, but it's done in 5 to 10 seconds. You could even load a few bullets then go back to shooting, if necessary.

I was gonna change back from Litchfield to Lancaster, but think I'll go with Evans as my main.

Guys don't forget, there's 1 more RDR 1 repeater waiting to be reintroduced, also a fan favorite: Henry Repeater. That's was main weapon in Bag matches in Armadillo. I still remember where it would spawn and how everybody would run over there. All i can remember is high magazine and really good for PVP.

As for Buffalo rifle, i always found it to slow to reload. Rarely used it in RDR 1 PVP mode. Cause like Ektope says, you die before you get the chance to reload. But for long range kills, it's great.

I like this rifle with big magazine,

but i havent unlocked the express rounds, so i find it kinda weak with the standard bullets compared to my bolt action rifle 🙂

I would never use it in free roam events or other PvP modes unless you aim for the head only. It kill others with one headshot.

But i think if u hit below they take 5-6 shots to fell..

What is it about getting 200 kills with this rifle? What do you unlock then? Must it be 200 other players or do npc count also?

That's just a lighthearted joke for our PVP expert around these parts of western frontier: Ektope.
