GTA3 UPDATE

 

Here's the error GTA3 puts out when it crashes:

I'm almost certain it's being caused by large .TXD files.

Some of them are pretty big, specifically the ones containing large chunks of the map.

I'm going to try removing anything over 5MB and see if it improves.

P.S: My San Andreas install has broken itself, so i'll be reinstalling it and testing it out again.

Once I have a permanent fix for either game i'll make an official thread for it.

I don't think its the size of the MB, for San Andreas anyway.

Project RoSa works fine for me, its and .txd's are bigger than yours ;)

 

Usually with stream memory errors, they just don't appear, or flicker.

Maybe the problem is the size of the textures? Think SA doesnt like anything above 2k, maybe GTA 3 is the same

I've re-installed San Andreas and added only the basic scripts (modloader, silentpatch, limit adjuster).

Didn't run into any texture streaming issues for the 30 mins i played, though i didn't do anything excessive like low altitude hydra flying.

That's a good point, i'll check the all the .png's and see if there's anything excessive in dimensions.

Will test this with GTA3 later.

Does anyone know what mod this is? It has smoother graphics and the traffic light lights are transparent, not solid. They seem to look better to me. 

If anyone knows what mod this is in this Youtube video, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

The mod is very good, but I noticed a few things:
- There are many other unnecessary mods in the download, I believe that most of us already have them installed;
- The game map starts to fade after a while playing, I fixed it with Largeaddress;
- Some vehicles have their license plate reversed, such as Pony, Deluxo and Sandking;
- Comet has rearlights textures stretched;
- One wheel (used by the police car, for example) is very white and poorly detailed compared to the others;
- I believe some weapon icons have not been improved, such as the pistol;
- You have 'improved' some buggy textures from the PC version, such as the shadows of the Ocean View's Hotel room and the neons of the buildings;
- The golf_clubhouse1.txd file has 80MB. Is this correct?

I experiment a black screen crash in the mission Four Iron, when I change my clothes and the game turns black, it crashes. I disabled the ModLoader (which obviously is where the mod is installed) and did that mission again and I didn't have any crashes.

- colt45.txd not improved

- add improved "gun_ruger_b" (like on PS2) to ruger.txd (it contains only "gun_ruger_c" now)

- add support for "xbox hands": https://gtaforums.com/topic/695851-vc-xbox-hands

(some of .txd has its own separate hands-pics which must be improved, also some skins different, with additional forefinger)

- txd-skins in "xbox hands" doesn't contains glasses-pics, so maybe .dff must be edited to support both Ai and xbox

- the last "xbox hands" archive contains ultra-hq package1.txd, use it (don't know is it original or redrawn)

- add support for "xbox cars" (not sure about this one in VC, but gta 3 has much more detailed car-models)

- add support for hq-gradients from "vc vclf feels" (if it's possible): https://gtaforums.com/topic/750757-vice-city-the-leftovers-fix/page/63/?tab=comments#comment-1068929018

- use hd-hud from "gta 10th anniversary" or mobile versions (ultra-hq radar-txd's, weapons-txd's (only icons), also txd's: hud (instead of fists and radio-icons), fonts, fronten1, fronten2)

- custom fonts.txd with russian localisation 😃

 

PS. Also you can improve some .txd from VCLF (if it's not included in Ai pack yet).

The main problem with this mod is you can not increase lod-distance much ("MapLODdistance" in Junior_Djjr script or "MaxDrawDistanceForNormalObjects" in VCLodLights). It will increase streaming memory usage and you will get texture-flickering or crashes. Increasing "MemoryAvailable" in III.VC.SA.LimitAdjuster doesn't do much.

I'm going to get back into this mod soon and see if i can perfect it.

I have another PC for testing and I intend on getting the mod working by itself without additional mods.

Once that's done I will try to do the same with the unreleased GTA3 version.

Looking to get the final Vice City version released later this week or early next week.

Will have a full list of improvements when everything is done.

Hey, Thanks alot for the mod, awesome work. It's all working great in my machine, at least till it reaches VRAM limit, then textures start breaking :(
I recorded a video showing the problem: video, here i drive through the city till the VRAM overflows (i have 1GB dedicated), then i show the imediate consequences in the main menu, but the problem extends to all textures in game from this point on.
Then i tested if the same happens with VRTP mod, maybe it needs a little more testing but the same issue seems not to repeat here.

Why this mod is not compatible with some of the vehicles in the XBox vehicles mod? Is it because of the texture size?

Take Police/Taxi/Ambulance for example. The paint job is fine, but the extra details like the Police stickers or the ambulance text are missing. Is deleting the txds the only option.?

NIce job, mate!
Let me tell ya its good in maybe 2K or 4K resolutions, but on 1080p it looks ugly. Because of excess detalisation, everything is pixelated, lack of multisampling. I think, 2x scaling should be enough. 
Ultra-HD mod, not recommended to use with FullHD resolution.

It happens because of gta3 render system, that load all objecs around player, even they are not on screen. Some trouble with memory mapping. Btw, some guy here adviced to check out "large adddress patch", although its a part of SilentPatch now.
