The plan for this area is to add a few buildings and a race track before the countryside which then goes on towards Cottonmouth. There is a little bay next to the Hyman Memorial Stadium where you can take your boat down from the ocean. There is now a exit on the interstate just before you enter Vice City that will take you to this area north of downtown Vice City.

@Seth - I'm only asking as TTDISA makes changes to the main.scm. I don't know what DYOM requires to work. BTW I can confirm DYOM is compatible with Trilogy.

It is mainly because UG adds new vehicles, peds and such which are not selectable in DYOM.

All it needs now is a patch to enable the rest of the newly added peds, vehicles, and weapons in DYOM. Unless UG is still updating their DYOM support, I think Trilogy DYOM would be a good alternative.

@tizerist - The interstate route from VC to CM is almost getting there...but there is something in the way though...

 

There will be a new city in between CM & VC, at the moment I cannot think of a name for it so if anyone can think of something please share here! Please don't suggest Reddick as there is already a town in the works with that name. The baseland is roughly the same size if not smaller than Staunton Island from LC but the plan is to have it cram pack with a dense city which will be a parody location based on Tampa. There is hardly anything to show yet apart from the baseland and two buildings. More to come.

Is the texture for the map extension going to feel like they r repeated? And plz don't add maps from just about any-other games from the 3D era (like midnight club/NFS/just cause). Keep trilogy concentrated mostly on connecting and improving all the gta maps, cottonmouth, bullworth, carcer-city and custom cities of your imagination.

In order to give an impression of the efforts needed for new custom cities (even without counting the obvious mandatory software skills), I posted the content below in the GTA Underground suggestions thread. It's something worth reading in case people are thinking about adding custom cities. It takes plenty of motivation to get things done.

 

 

 


The following will serve as either a guide if it's accepted or its length will demonstrate why it's rejected.

 

This is a list of things needed on order to portray (1998-present central west coast) Mexico properly:

 

Vehicles:

 

 

 

The ice cream truck will have few decals if any decals at all. It could be based on the Regina instead of the Boxville and have a speaker mounted on the roof.

 

Taxis are based on the 1992 Nissan Sentra (known as the Nissan Tsuru in Mexico). The Nissan Sentra is extremely common and is also used as a fire chief's car.


You need a truck that is used for delivering jugs of water. It somewhat resembles an Enforcer but with garage-style doors on the sides.

Coca-Cola dominates Mexico. Use this for eCola trucks. Ciel is the water jug company from above and is owned by the Coca-Cola Company. Take note of that.

Fire trucks may be from the 60s, 70s, or 80s because Mexico still use them today. Models can include but are not limited to the Ward Lafrance, Mack CF, Seagrave, and Crown Firecoach. When I say Seagrave, I mean a 1978 model and not the GTA 3 fire truck. The fire truck has text under the rear side window that says "MOTOBOMBA DONADA POR LA CIUDAD DE REDWOOD, CALIFORNIA, ESTADOS UNIDOS, H. AYUNTAMIENTO DE COLIMA". Replace the city names with whatever names you plan to use. The roof colors can be either white, red, or black.


The police use an Annihilator. (They do use Mavericks and Armadillos but I want diversity in case you don't add them all.) They also use pickup trucks that sometimes have machine gun mounts.

 

Marines use the same pickup trucks but with camo liveries. This applies to setting the year to at least 1998.
 

The Pizzaboy is used just like in SA/VC.

 

Ambulances can be from the 80s or 90s depending on the decade in which you set your time. The ambulances will be based on full vans and belong to the fire department.

 

There are also trucks that deliver propane tanks. (Although the company is Global Gas, the speakers seem to pronounce it as Union Gas.)

Buildings:

 


Create an eCola factory near a big road. Sprunk and Fun Cola will barely exist in Mexico.

Roadsides may have firework stands, fruit stands, parked trucks, and garages.

If you have a beach, have it surrounded by hotels. Most hotels will have pools, pools with swim-up bars, and pools with a view of the beach.

 The beach also has a massive swap meet nearby. This is a great place for food stands.

Many businesses have the name of the type of business and whatever as the business name, usually in quotation marks. Bonus points if one business is called "Mari" and the business next to it is called "Juana".

Roads may be filled with gas stations. In real life, all gas stations are from Pemex. You can have a functional gas station and an abandoned gas station next to each other.

24/7 can appear but it needs a rival based on either Oxxo or Kiosko. Labels on products are either in Spanish or simply have white nutrition labels placed on then. Cigar packs need a picture of a throat with a hole on the top of the pack that says that they cause cancer.
 

Not all grafitti is in Spanish. Some vandals like showing off their knowledge of English profanity.

 

Many homes are made with cement or bricks, and some may have wavy metal sheets either on the roof or as the roof. Many homes have water tanks on the roof.

 

Hot dog stands still appear. Add taco stands and candy stands.

 

Churches are surrounded by food stands. There may be cracked bells and broken dry fountains on the church.

 

If not some store like 24/7, many shops are not the kind that use enex markers due to them having small interiors and open doors. An ice cream shop can be as small as a doorway, an ice cream machine, and a clerk. Many shops will have eCola signs and red bottom halves on walls.

 

Many of the same kinds of businesses can be found in the same streets. A shop can be next to a taco stand next to a taco restaurant next to another shop next to a food truck next to a park surrounded by street vendors next to a taco restaurant whose kitchen includes hot dog carts.

 

If not glass windows, many houses (with brick walls and wavy roofs) have matching metal doors and window frames that have metal bars and patterns formed by more metal bars.

 

A white gazebo surrounded by trees and fountains is just as mandatory as the church.

 

The police station will be along a big road, the medical center will be not too far from the gazebo, and the firehouse will be next to a shop outside the town.

 

Add a volcano and give it a gray version of the SA riot smoke. Another firehouse will be located on the opposite side of the town with the volcano in between.

 

All of SA's restaurants may operate in Mexico but you need new skins, translated textures, and new store formats.

Also, remember that Tampa is one x away. The most that I could think of is Tequa (Equate).

@Mattineu - Couldn't the Tampa parody city be considered a custom city? Btw the southern landmass that I mentioned a few posts back is in fact a Texas/Mexico landscape (very basic terrain but will be a base to improve upon) The only problem is at the moment CM & the Tampa parody city are quite close together. I could move CM west but then it will be too close to LS (I'm basing CM on New Orleans). Moving maps is easy, its the paths I'm worried about as I couldn't get @Swoorup Paths Tool to work in blender (then again I'm not familiar with blender to begin with). I will post a updated in game map in a bit to show what I'm talking about.

@sazzad - I'm using the default textures to keep the feel of the area (LV extension & WHSP using default SA textures & VC extension using default VC textures). Buildings and new areas will use new textures to give a different feel. If I can convert maps from other R* games (like Midnight/Red Dead Revolver) very quickly and easily I will as it would add new areas in a speedy manner but if I can't then I'm not interested in adding them (especially NFS/JustCause....hell no)

@Male01 - A lot of the suggestions are bit early to do at the moment but it will be saved for later use to refer to. Why Tequa (Equate) for Tampa out of interest? Says the image is missing regarding Reddick?

If you read the first post, you´ll see that open interiors will be avaible.

I personly wondering if SA style interiors will be avaible to, since open interiors are VC style, no meter what people say.

Amazing work nWo!! I have a question man, in that image where you have loaded more than one map, how can you not run out of stream memory? I barely don't run out of stream memory if I try to load SA map alone (without texture mods)

 

I really love the west hill state park idea, I've always wanted something like Liberty Countryside for SA, just like more green nature and deserts with a big highway for trucking alone while listening to Phil Collins ❤️ If you are in need of any ideas, I can provide, maybe even 3d work if I have the free time...

 

And I think you can do way better than Interstate 420, it's asset design is way too poly, not that good and does not at all fit SA atmosphere. Download RailClone (I can give you a link) and use default SA assets in it to build a huge highway in like 5 minutes.

The map was done using steve-m's map viewer, comes with a script that can generate radar tiles.

 

The Interstate 420 is included out of respect for what DeathSquad has done (was the first mod that I downloaded ever). I personally think it fits SA quite well, doesn't fit in VC area as the textures he uses are from SF, I will do some interstate highway models to be added in in the future.

 

Thank you! I'm always open for suggestions, ideas as well as requests as long as it is within my skillsets.

Sir is my personal opinion but get this, i like a lot what you did in vc expansion, but there is a part of an area that shouldn't be worked on as the beacouse it was designed as an old builed up concrete shore, you can check this in Vanila VC, look at the poles placed right on top of the "deck" 
Cyan - The zone i am talking about
Purple - The part i love at VC's expansion
Yellow - The road that should be made as a bridge 
Red - The limit where should be water (between the lines).In the other side of the lines land will fit very well (And of course well planed shores, not a linear shores as the red lines...)

 


 

 

 

But again it is my personal opinion.

I only see OpenBull, OpenManhunt and SA LODless, where is Liberty City and Vice City parts? Did you remove it? This mod (Trilogy) must be combined with another mod to work (SAxLCxVC)?

@MMark95 My rule with working on mainland Vice was to not touch Vice City as much as possible. As below there are no terrain connected to Vice City as all of mainland is separated by water. The interstate that goes over the light blue plane will in fact be a bridge.

And the Installer. Main setup is 670mb with two optional extras that includes download the radio stations from all the games (3.3GB) and the other to download the latest update. The two options if enabled will require a internet connection to download.

kind of a retarded question, but would it be viable to extend the SA map by added a condensed Oakland expy to the area west of SF?

Isn't a retarded question. It is viable yes, I do like that map. Don't know if everyone else would have any objection to me making changes to the SA map?

 

I have set up a poll on this thread, would like to know whats everyones views are for the what direction Trilogy should take. I am also a contributor to the Underground Team so any custom maps that I do (including the VC Extension) will be included in their mod.

 

1. Should Trilogy continue to have the III Era Maps (Including BW, CC, CM & custom maps)

Pretty much how Trilogy is at the moment, an open alternative to Underground that can be loaded via Modloader.

 

2. Should Trilogy continue to have the III Era Maps but instead be geographically located (separating LS, SF & LV)

Separating SA so that LA, SF & LV are further apart from each other. Obviously would be losing compatibility with the Story Mode and majority of mods for SA.

 

3. Should Trilogy replace LC & LS with their IV/V respective maps as well as include SF, LV, VC etc from the III Era games in their geographical locations

This can be feasible, I've already converted the Liberty City map from IV (including SA prelight, LODs, interiors, props all setup as is from IV). I noticed in the V modding community that users are combining LA with LC, VC etc. It would still have the same SA style (none of this ragdoll from V rubbish etc, just the maps, peds & vehicles)

What I've seen in EVERY mod that combines SA, VC and LC maps together is that they include extra features other than the maps, can you make a version with just VC and LC maps added to east of SA and nothing else? That's something I'd really like to see:).
