SA - Combat improvement

COMBAT IMPROVEMENT

 

I noticed that you could beat anyone in the street or the gym, just by mashing the attack button, but not anymore.

 

FEATURES:

 

-Enemies will cover up before big hits, untill they have low health.

-Enemies will push you if they are covering when you get too close or to interrupt a combo, this will break your own cover and give them an opening to hit you.

-Enemies will change between their fightstyle  and the Punch-Kick fightstyle, to mix it up, and take you to the ground.

-Enemies will be fierce and restless, no more stupid pauses in the middle of fights

-You will have to work on your combos and use the cover button way more now to avoid death.

-Enemies will get up from the ground faster, and they won't allow you to keep them there.

-Now, your best friend is the jab use it.

-With this neither the player or the enemy goes down at the end of big combos unless they have low health, now you can keep your fights on foot, toe to toe.

 

I don't recommend getting into fights with too much people now.

Is the first "enhancement" randomised?  It's hardly normal for everyone to be a pro fighter in the streets and should give the ones that are more of a surprise factor.

Wow. Both mods description looks really interesting. I'm gonna give them a try later. Also, I would like to see the factor of surprise as @LaDiDa suggested. Some peds with poor fighting skills, while some others not as Carl or the guys at the gyms around San Andreas.

Sounds awesome! I was reading fast. But it would be cool if you can fight and don't have to kill them everytime (because they're angry all the time even if you have punched them and you have to kill him/her to be alone)

Yeah I always think it's a bit extreme just beating someone randomly to death in the street.  But I guess that's the mechanics of the game and not really something that could be implemented, since the idea of the plot generally is to just murder everyone on site haha!

Yeah, I think it's just some peds that run away sadly. It would be cool if they got injured and can't back up from the ground either.

Like in GTA IV.

 

Edit: Or it would be cool aswellwith a fight if he brings CJ to the ground then the ped is stratified and does his own business again.

This mod is really amazing.

However, it is really weird that a old Grandma fights like a pro.

Is not randomized, peds, will cover up after for example the second hit of the boxing fighting style or kung fu, to avoid being hit by the third which takes them to the ground, but this applies too, to the dodging, i can make them random, but my point is that they don't go down.

Still, if you mix up your combos, or time them good, you can hit them whenever they are taking a step back instead of covering, and take them down, since one cannot predict in what frame, will the "Dodging" or the "cover" system will take place, then, at the end of the day, it does becomes random OR take them to a wall, or a corner, eventually they will try to take a step back and won't be able, therefore will be open for at least a second or 2, and in that time you will be able to take them down.

 

But you bet your ass they won't let you.

I will exclude womans, make it random on men and prostitues, and make it happen allways on criminals and gangs (i suppose that makes sesnse? 

 

I was also thinking about making them not able to cover when carl have a high muscle stat, it doesn't make sense for them to be able to cover up from those "heavy" arms of his, let me know what you think about that.

 

Let me know about the shooting mechanics too, they were the origin of this mod.

Nice mod! You know what make HD era gta more interesting and difficult in term of shootout?  your enemy did not stand still when you aiming at them, they move(side stepped, sometimes run) while shooting at you and cover lot of times. In SA only skilled enemy(and rare) doing this.

This you are asking me for, is allready included, if you only want it, only install the file called "Dodging" inside the cleo folder.

NEW UPDATE:

 

-Added the knockdown possibility, now people, will go down, and stay down for about 30 secs, this will apply for fighting OR shooting someone up close, so now you can get personal, shoot people and stab them about 3 or 4 times before they actually die, enjoy it you sadistic f***.

-Now womans won't fight so well.

-Regular male pedestrians, only push, they don't cover up so well.

-Criminals, dealers (in the rare case of being unarmed) gangs and cops, cover up, push, and dodge.

-Now pedestrians won't be able to cover up if you have a brass knuckle, making the weapon now ACTUALLY usefull.

-The bonus dodging mod, doesn't work in mission peds anymore, since it disturbed some things, like Big smoke's boss battle for example, preventing him from running around the area.

I'm aware of this, however, i can't do nothing about it without disrupting the way the mod works, since the actors are doing animations in the middle of a fight, i need to set them to kill the actor just after the animation, or they would do it, and stop attacking, it's not a game breaking bug so far.

 

I guess, i could make the mod not work on cops and that would fix it, but do you really want that tho?

No, maybe you can make it that the mod doesn´t only work when the character is fielding the nightstick? Because cops are the only ones using it, but that gives the same result, so it doesn´t matter... But maybe you can figure something to do with the nightstick. Like {if player put down with nightstick - result busted

 

EDIT: Actually nevermind, I´ve been testing now, and it doesn´t happen anymore. It only happened to me once, when the cop kept beating me. Now every time I´ve tested he busts me

as always you come back and make me reinstall GTA SA

 

really nice work now it feels like I can turn my SA into proper ps2 era arcade game... yeah, it already is, but it poses little challenge to player and with your mods i can obtain Godfather 1 style balance - npcs being able to actually kick my ass, etc, awesome.

I've had some cases where knocking down the opponent resulted in him/her recovering to full HP + my fists doing like no damage whatsoever.

 

Also being pushed backwards when someone is lying still on te ground is kind of annoying as well. Other then that this is a great improvement.

That only happened to me once, with a drug dealer, since drug dealers are hardcoded, things like this, usually can't interrupt the "Dealer" thread in the main script.

 

You can remove the "fightgetup" script if you don't like being pushed backwards (Which only happens when they are actually getting up, not when they are lying still)

 

I did that, actually before improving the fights, to increase difficulty within the default game, but since now is so hard to take someone down, i understand the annoyance.

 

If you can explain to me in what instance that situation you described happened, it'd be better for me to fix it.

Just beating up a random hooker for a knife, knocked her down with the special moves you have from the start.

 

She went from yellow HP to full green again (but still died pretty fast after that). Then a cop showed up that just kept green HP that I had to shoot to kill him for whatever reason.

Also, I have some suggestions too. I don´t like when the ped kills you or another ped, they just stand next to the corpse, calmly waving their hands as if they were talking.

It just looks unnatural, I think it would be much cooler if they used another animation.

Maybe for example the f*ck you animation or the animation from Ganton gym, once the opponent is down and you punch him

I think it would look more natural, as this would show the ped´s upset and anger, punching him on the ground one more time and then walking away.

 

Also how about giving some peds different fight styles? Maybe some asian characters could use the kung fu and some other characters would throw in some of the boxing moves between normal punches (not the whole change, just 1 or 2 times, to make the fights have different animations)

You are barking at the wrong tree friend, there are allready many mods that change the pedestrians fighting style.

 

I'd let you know that my mod actually doesn't change the fighting style a ped has by default, if they fight using the kung fu style, like the gym trainers, they will use it,  mix it up with the punch kick combo, and then return to it.

 

I'm trying to focus more in the gameplay feeling of the fighting, the expressions pedestrians do when they beat you, ain't my department

 

New update:

 

-Removed the "fightdodging" script since it was at this point useless and also, was causing pedestrians to recover in a wrong manner.

-Fixed the "fightko" script which wasn't working the last release.

-Fixed the fightko script causing problems while fighting with groups, making pedestrians walk away and not being able to be damaged, this will cause some pedestrians to die in group fights instead of getting knocked down, but like life the outcome is unpredictable, and i can accept it, i know you can too.

-Reduced the area for being pushed while an actor is getting up.

-Reduced the possibility of an actor coming back to attack you even when you are not fighting them.

 

You may have seen i'm updating everything, i'm just tying loos3 ends dawg, i'll be gone in a minute.

FEATURES: 

 

-Now pedestrians won't fall at the end of the combo from the default fight kick to any gym.

-Now the entire fighting experience happens standing, neither peds or the player go down unless they have low health, resembling a fast paced version of manhunt's combat.

-Womans, bums and prostitutes, do go down at the end of the combo, for obvious reasons.

-When fighting mobs, some pedestrians go down, take this as a feature, because if no one does, you couldn't fight more than 2 people.

-Peds, now fight more fierce, but they get considerably weaker while the fight progresses, which means, they throw less punches once their health starts going lower.

 

Bugs:

-When a pedestrian get's knocked down, their health go up 1 point , this causes the health indicator to go green for a reason, when in reality, if you hit the pedestrian again, it will go red showing it's real health,  the only bug in here is actually, a game bug, not a mod bug.

 

I recommend installing the scripts in a modloader folder, because they are a lot now.

 

But don't worry, this isn't hard on performance, i know, i play with a 1,20 ghzproccessor, so go figure.

-If you don't like carl not going down at the end of the combos remove "fpkboxup"

-If you don't like the peds pushing you while they get up, remove "fightgettingup"

-If you don't like the knockdown feature remove "fightko"

-If you don't like the cover feature remove "fighcover"

-If you don't like the peds pushing you to break your cover remove "fightpushing"

-If you don't like the peds not going down at the end of the combos remove "fkboxup"

I don't know if someone else have reported it or if it even comes from this mod. But I guess it is since I didn't notice anything when not having it installed. But if you have a jacked parked car and when you enter it, you can get teleported
