I've constructed a list of everything wrong with the update

If I missed anything important or have some complaints with the list, please let me know. Also, some of the things on the list are personal

 

Emotes cost money.

 

Some new clothes aren't available yet(dripfeed)  

 

Hunting rewards have been nerfed.

 

New game modes aren't available yet(dripfeed)

 

(Personal) The map no longer shows any players at all unless they're griefers or close by. I would've much preferred if it was the minimap that did this instead so when I pause to look at the map, I could still see all the players. I actually thought my game was broken and constantly put me into empty lobbies at first.

-Can't parley one member of a posse as a strategy any longer. 

-Can't see friends locations on map.

-Get an ever-increasing bounty even for defending yourself or having a friendly spar.

-Bounty amounts are insane. 50 cents per player. [Every. Single. Time.] Even in the middle of nowhere.

-Can't see player missions on map unless extremely close (which makes them even more boring for everyone involved).

-One kill parley is absurd. 

-Hunting is more pointless than ever.

-Fast travel has been rendered useless without blips.

-Player interaction drastically reduced. It feels like playing offline. 

-We got cheated on ability card changes.

-Game feels disconnected, empty, boring.

 

R* should have left free roam free and just created invite only sessions for those who wanted a digital safe space. I have never seen an online game so stripped of its vitality, so utterly destroyed, in one single update.

yep I might be done with online, not diggin the sh*t they pulled. That's coming from a hardcore red dead fan, couldn't potentially made it worse. No one can even interact with my missions anymore  unless they are sitting on my left arse cheek, where are the thrills ? Such a bore right now.

What do you mean noone can interact with your missions? Players doing stranger missions pops up on the minimap the same distance as before

Off course they can interact, but only if extremely close now, unless you were griefing the living sh*t out of everybody in a session which makes you more visible from what I witnessed by rivals. Posted my response in the other thread just moments ago. Like @MXVC said in his reply above. Got to be very close.

As someone who hated pvp and hated having players interrupt my missions, I love this change. I get why people will feel that its less interactive and will dislike it, but for me, this is a very welcome change.

And that's the problem R* simply not able to get a compromise where everyone is happy. Pvp'ers, Casuals, friendlies.This game needed lobby types so much but since that goes against the business model.... Anyway, glad it suits you. I for one am very dissapointed this was so poorly implemented, they had time and especially a model to take from, public free roam coulda worked just like the blips in original RDR.

i think everybody would be happy to play some fresh missions instead of the same sh*t over and over again.

well not getting real content until late spring/early summer...its a shame

It is completely crazy that defending yourself gives you a bounty. So when you get killed by someone you're supposed to just walk away? I never believed they could actually make the game worse but they have. I was holding out a lot of hope for the update but it's given me less reason to play.

Biggest thing wrong for me: No properties. There's not enough incentive to grind. Where's my goddamn farm??

I don't like bounties for self defence, that's daft.  

Hunting probably didn't need to be nerfed.

Stupid daily challenges are stupid.

The rest I can deal with, and if it reduces griefing that's fine by me.

 

But the big thing is ... Where's the new content!!

Yep! This has made me smile, I can't lie. 🤣

 

PvE players can thrive there in GTA:O and players are much more likely to buy cards as they are actually playing, lol.

 

And though I'll never object to PvP players being free to enjoy their game, PvE players are plentiful too. Seem here R*/T2 don't want their money. ;)

 

The good thing about these public traded companies is they can't hide this sort of info. Thanks @hotrats773. :)

Then invite them to a posse or join their posse, or create one. Its not hard.

For players who want a bounty, and want to play around with the bounty system, they are way too low and it takes way to long to get a bounty high enough to enjoy the bounty hunter pursuit.

You want to get away with griefing others? I like that they don't go away. I can play the "outlaw" role wanted by lawmen. I never need to re accumulate a new bounty every session.

Not everyone wants to PvP. If I'm hunting or fishing and some griefer comes along and kills me, I'm gonna parley and go back to what I was doing because I'm FINALLY free to do that. I shouldn't be forced to engage in PvP just because some griefer or griefer posse insists on it.

OP weapons and abilities will ALWAYS sell, but real gamers who've around for a while know it's common practice in the industry for games to get balanced. Anything OP will get nerfed. Do you really want games to be one sided and NOT balanced because you already have all the OP content? Thats NOT a gamer, that's a griefer.

LMAO the old west wasn't a constant shootout, with cowboys, outlaws, and lawmen dropping eachother 20 times a day. Wars happened YES, and you can engage in wars via gamemodes. If you and another player want to engage in PvP in free roam, its gonna happen. If they don't want too, then why grief them?

You say free roam is supposed to be free, but you have a huge problem with any other player aside from YOU having the freedom to do anything. They are free to parley, free to fish and hunt with out forced PvP, etc.

@djb204  Who cares what the actual old west was like? This is a video game. You also wouldn't have polymer controllers, endless access to horses, and would have been stranded out on the prairie for weeks. Online video games involve a lot of people by their nature, and what makes them exciting and surprising is that you can't predict or control everyone's actions...unless you lock down everything that makes the game interesting. This update has swayed the gameplay almost exclusively towards PvE. You have your own style play that lends itself better to offline, or an invite only lobby.

I have not played RDR2 in months. It is hands down the lowest bar ever set for any game with fps mechanics I have ever played. Since I started back in 97 in the Doom days, it's a mighty long list. Not to mention it requires the least amount of skill of just about any game that is online. It's on the level of the Sims House Party. That is where I rank RDR2 in terms of skill needed. I rank Quake 1,2,3, live as the toughest of all to master and RDR2 as potato level gaming. I [email protected], you fooled me, I at least thought Hardcore mode would happen but you've even regressed from RDR1. In terms of mechanics, RDR2 is a regression from RDR1. 

 

Single player was a masterpiece in many facets which glossed over the poor gameplay. Online is completely exposed for the noob shooter that it truly is. I finally figured out why there will be no free aim, cause the mechanics of the look system are so bad what is the point? Hence RDO is pig with bright red lipstick and forever will be.
