Mission grinding.

I have been grinding missions for quite some time lately and can't help but notice that out of the many, many dozens of missions I have done, only two people I have had the pleasure of playing with seemed to know that hanging out whatever mission for quite some time (not sure how much time) pays out in spades xp, cash and etc wise. Surprising lack of mic comms too (probably for the best thinking about it). Did "kill them each and every one" yesterday with just one other player, as two departed for some reason just before the mish. We probably lolly gagged and hunted around for maybe half hour or so before triggering the ending scene and snagged 0.8 gold, over a 1000xp and a decent amount of cash. Pity more don't go down like that is all.

I know they're not hard missions but there are ways to get much more out of them with a few smarts being used. There doesn't seem to be much about in the way of advice on how best to maximise results for these missions unlike, say, that which is available on the GTAO forums.

So you wasted half an hour. In the time people waste doing nothing you can replay the mission again, which gets you more kills = more xp and more gold/cash.

Waiting out missions isnt an advantage, in the half hour you wasted you could have done that mission 2-3 times over lmao.

Most players don't want to just wait or wander around though. Many prefer to play and many have a limit to how much they can game in an evening so might want to play more things.

You're wrong.
Firstly, you're assuming that people are wasting time doing nothing. They're not doing nothing. You can hunt while inside the mission, and also sell to the butcher in peace with no fear of being shot and losing everything. In fact you can do anything you want to inside the mission, including things you cannot do in normal free roam, like take a boat to Sisika and explore.

Secondly, let's say you rush to complete the mission as fast as possible. You will be paid about 8-10 dollars. You do this 3 times in half an hour, thats 25-30 dollars.

How much payout would I get for doing the same mission but taking 25-30 mins to complete?

Around 50-65 dollars.

I have made double what you made in half an hour already. But it doesn't end there. Because I was hunting, not stood doing nothing. So with all that extra stuff I sell to the butcher, with no risk of losing it, around another 30-50 dollars. Even more if I can get hold of a stolen horse from a NPC and double my storage capacity.

I made 80 dollars. Minimum. You made 30 dollars. Maximum. Think about that.

I think it's actually you who played yourself... Now if you are going for XP ONLY, then your method will be better. But for money making, no, you're completely wrong.

well from my point of view this still makes no sense. Money isn't the issue, xp is. I have about 3k and all guns except snipers bought. The extra items I do want are level locked and Im not giving in to micros. All that money is no use if you cant spend it.

Sure you can try cheat the system by hunting in a mission or just wasting time but this still isnt as profitable as fishing for me. $60 every 15 or so minutes with a bit of hunting on my way to/from the butcher beats mission grinds by a mile. Now I'll be honest and say if you can fish in missions then I didnt know that, but if you can you should really be doing that instead of hunting.

The money is not useless even if there is nothing you need to buy. You can save up for future updates which is why I often replay story missions. But I am playing the story missions because I enjoy the PVE, playing with other people, and random elements they can bring to the mission. It doesn't matter that there is a better "money making method" - I am only going to do things that I feel like doing, or want to do at the time. For you, fishing and running back to the butcher beats story missions by a mile. For me, story missions are the best thing about the game. Everyone is different.

True, gotta respect that. I am gonna try your fishing during a mission idea tho.

Last night I ran the second Cortez mission(Van Horn).  I went straight to killing herons, white tail buck, gators, cranes & pelicans(no spoon bills spawned) and small critters, basically if it moved I shot and skinned it..  In roughly 30 minutes I made over $150 in inside the mission plus all of the XP for killing animals, I flipped an award for gathering animal parts and also for selling pieces to the butcher.   This is excluding the 1111XP I got from finishing the mission plus $55ish(rough guess somewhere in that range).  It's really how you spend your time in the mission, I don't stand around.  It just depends on what we feel like doing, but we run through them too.

You can actually, but not in a traditional sense.  Salmon, bass, and trout pay the most, something like $22 for 10 each.

You can actually, just not with a pole.

If its XP you are looking for, do the Each and Every one mission.  Do executions on all the guys and make sure they kill you and all lives before Teddy Brown comes out.  Select retry checkpoint, and profit.  You can get like 400-600 so per run.  You wont lose honor either.  Mission payouts are inconsequential if you are farming that kind of xp.

Same mission, you can find a couple of army patrols/camps.  I believe they are the patrols that come to attack you from the outside after you reach the fort.  You can kill them and loot bodies.  If you kill their horses, the horses infinately respawn

My strategy is kill all the dudes, loot them all, then press on. I find it pointless standing around doing nothing, but I do not rush through it like my ass is on fire either. I like to take my time, loot whatever can be looted, and when thats all done simply complete the mission. Course thats asking too much from randoms, always progressing missions forward as fast as possible. There is nothing wrong with stopping a second to loot a bit. You get extra goodies from looting, and the time spent doing it only results in the mission paying out more. What do you have to lose?

Yep hunting in story missions is what a lotta folks have been doing lately, including myself. Some days, it goes better than others, & I mostly do it to restock on flight feathers & animal fats.

„doing nothing“ is a definition. nobody is sitting there holding the pad and staring into the tv doing absolutely nothing.

Doing nothing in-game. Like we're waiting for something to happen.

My math tells me one extended mission is worth much more xp and cash than 3 or 4 missions with try hard run and die a lots. Still, ymmv. Thanks for the civil response ShayD. Charmed I'm sure.

I've seen payouts of up to almost $50, & 666 XP.

If your talking the last mission where you have to kill teddy brown you can easily clear $80+ hunting for 25-30 mins plus another $50-60 for completing the mission, that coupled with almost a full gold bar, usually 1000+xp... i really hate when people rush through these missions.

anyone who likes to play missions this way add me up on ps4 my psn is the same as my username.
