JC Hammer Posted February 27, 2019 Share Posted February 27, 2019 Best train robbery method: Jump on the train just prior to it going into the long tunnel above O'Creagh's Run Take control and drive train all the way into the tunnel Kill guards Rob passengers, then kill passengers and loot them Blow safes and grab bill stacks (will alert law) Escape before lawmen arrive and you won't get a bounty. Should net close to $500 per robbery after selling all items to Fence and grab the Miners hat, it helps see in the tunnel. Obsi Posted February 27, 2019 Share Posted February 27, 2019 Lawmen can't get into the tunnel - so you can take your merry time even if they start investigating, they end up losing interest and leave you alone. Cutter De Blanc Posted February 27, 2019 Share Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) The last time I tried to rob a train, I did it in the tunnel as I've done many times before, but when I went to rob the passengers after stopping the train, they had all disappeared. I'm running 1.0. This is the first time I'd tried to rob the train after downgrading. I wish we could buy and customize wagons to store more pelts, or finance stables around the map to store more horse. It would be cool if you could buy dogs too, they could track animals for you or simple stay at camp. You could train them and bond with them like you do with horses. I don't bother with freight trains anymore, passenger trains should have 5 to 8 people per car, you're doing something wrong if your only getting 150 in cash. Make sure you don't shoot the engineer, just hit the Y button when the drive the train prompt appears. I believe shooting the engineer will cause passengers to flee. Seems like I did that once.... I spent the better part of a day grinding out train robberies, early in my game, netted almost $15 k and never had to worry about cash again. It can be a fun activity though. I did pretty much what the main thread is saying... Get any train from anywhere to Annesburg Hop off then get back on to trigger it to leave Rooftop walk to front car, wait until long tunnel is ALMOST in view Stop train outside of long tunnel Watch all the guards hop off to get to you Drive the train deep into the tunnel and you'll only be left with 1 guard, ha Equip the Miner's Cap, pop the guard Dynamite Safes, rob people Then DRIVE the train just north of Valentine, past Cumberland Falls* Hop off and run down to cross the river If you're lucky and did the one-guard-tunnel technique above, NO BOUNTY! If you aren't lucky, Marshals will appear, however they can't cross into New Hanover because the crime was committed in Ambarino. You can actually hear them cursing they can't cross, haha Fetch your horse at Valentine's Stable* Hop a train to Annesburg, repeat... * I do this because your horse doesn't want to follow you into the tunnel or just gets lost or killed trying to follow the train.
