Yes and No.

As an Associate you will be paid GTA$5,000 every 15 minutes IRL by default, which can increase to GTA$10,000 over time, but can also decrease when your CEO gets killed. Generally this isn't worthwhile by itself. Where you can earn money, is from assisting your CEO with sale Jobs, selling Special Cargo, Vehicle Cargo, Air-Freight, Gun-Running product and Nightclub Goods which typically pay around GTA$30,000 for successful sales, but some pay less. If you really want to make money as an Associate, then you'll want to find a CEO who is grinding VIP Work/Client Jobs, these Free-Roam Jobs pay anywhere from around GTA$16,000 up to GTA$30,000 for everyone in the Organisation, and run in the right order can be spammed back-to-back; the drawback to these is that other players can compete with you, which may make things difficult if you don't already have a lot of good weapons and vehicles. VIP Challenges are also an option, although not spammable the pay isn't terrible and they're generally good fun; they're also not competitive with other Jobs like VIP Work, Client Jobs and Biker Contracts, so you can do them if someone else starts a Job and you don't want to compete with them. Of notable mention is Point-to-Point, a race that can be completed in a matter of seconds, awarding GTA$10,000 to the winner who can then split it between the other members earning everyone a few grands for a couple of button presses.

Now, having said all of that, what you will usually find are scumbags who expect you to run around completing Buy/Steal missions for their businesses, which accumulate product for them to sell later at a huge profit, but for which you will be paid nothing, and the execution of which will often enough wipe out any earnings you might make from your Securoserve pocket-money. Sometimes they will even leave you to do all of the work while they sit and smoke weed, or wrestle the cyclops, IRL. Don't ever disrespect yourself by enabling these "people", if you aren't getting to do at least one VIP Work or similar in-between supply runs for your CEO's business, then they are trying to exploit you and waste your time and money. If, after you have warned them that you don't want to work for them if you're not having fun and earning money, they continue to launch supply runs, then you are morally justified in destroying whatever they send you to fetch, then quitting your protection detail before they can Terminate you. (GTFO'ing their Organisation is one thing, but don't stick around to grief their business, that's taking it too far)

If you have GTA$200,000 (IIRC, also you don't lost the money, you just need to possess that much) then you can register as a VIP for 4 hours, and can launch VIP Work and Challenges of your own, which also works in Invite-Only Sessions (again IIRC; naturally, competitive Jobs like PP are not available without opponents) so you and a small group of friends can grind those Jobs to your heart's content without interference.

^ Impressive reply!

One thing, though, the 4 hour VIP limit is gone now, you can be a VIP for as long as you like now. ;)

^ A great answer above, though these days we just need $50k in the bank to be eligible to register as a VIP and the 4 hour period has been adjusted to unlimited I believe too.

(The $50k doesn't get taken, OP. Just that's the threshold to unlock the ability to be classed as rich enough to be a VIP - It used to be $1m, lol).

I was thinking of becoming a VIP, but i thought it may make me a target, is it still a good idea?

Do VIP stuff in an invite only lobby.

Doing VIP Work/Client Jobs will make you a target for the duration of the Job, as those Jobs are generally competitive in nature. Otherwise players will generally only take exception to unusually high or low ranks, some types of dress, or speaking/making annoying sounds on the microphone.

Whatever you do, dont be a d*ck by not running headhunter or something in between sales and resupply. Give your associates some bread yo they workn hard for you!

Personally, I get invites every couple of minutes because of my rank. These bozos want the benefit of my experience and hardware, but want to pay peanuts. No thanks. I’d sooner lone wolf it.

Good answers here. I would add that as an associate you can get a feeling of different businesses and learn how to get supplies in efficient way. Communication is important too, feel free to ask your CEO about his plans on you and tell him what you want to do. As per target  - everybody is a target for griefers especially when carrying supplies or doing sales mission. Good CEO could protect you or at least try to protect you, so you might be safer in big organization or MC club. Not by much though   : )

Just try the VIP works available. Ideally Headhunter, Sightseer, Hostile Takeover as those 3 are quite simple on the surface of things and the best 3 for newer players as others often require owning vehicles that cost a pretty penny. (Headhunter is best done in a weaponised vehicle, try stealing a jet or buzzard from the fort/helipads/sandy shores or McKenzie airfield).

If you're in a public session, 2 things can stiffle your progress there. 1, players (naturally), the session will be alerted as to what you are doing and encouraged to oppose you to get the reward. And 2, there can only be one VIP work in progress per session, so if another VIP/CEO/MC are running a job like this, you'll have to wait until they are done.

Or start up an invite only session by loading into story and selecting online>invite only from the pause menu. Then you are free to just play these at will, though there are cooldowns between the jobs too.

If you can add a friend/associate, you can access VIP challenges too, Most Wanted is another easier one to run, just gotta survive 10 minutes with a 5 star wanted level, I'd advise starting on a roof the police can't climb to and then it's just target practice against helicopters then. If you both survive, the money will be split between you, but it's better to do that than have one for as they'll get nothing if they do. :)

Find someone around and do rotations(VIP jobs and Terrorbyte missions when you acquire it later).

best are Headhunter, Diamond Shopping, Robbery in Progress in my opinion. And I run Fortified when I need to check stuff at home.

Fully Loaded isn't bad if its appears one owns the Ruiner, one drives the car another strafes the Limo/Karin Technical with a jet. (I'm not suggesting to buy it though solely to make money...).

Here with three or four players and broomstick, but completly viable with Hydra/Savage/Buzzard...and two players, same principle.

Every time i start GTA O i have to register as a vip again, is this normal?

#1.    Bombkangaroo nailed it right on the head, in absolutely every way.      ("...wrestling the cyclops..."  LMAO)

#2.    You should DEFINITELY join if you ever get an invite from me, because spamming CEO/Client work is the name of the game, where i come from.    A lot of times i'll make upwards of 500K in a single session FOR THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION, or lots lots more, depending on the time and day of the week.     Plus, you get to say that--for a little while, at least--you were a member of Meat Curtains.

(p.s.   I had mistakenly thought you couldn't run the CEO/Client jobs in an invite-only session.    i love it when the other players come a calling.)

yes.    and yes.    if you don't have the office and the special cargo warehouse, you don't get to make that money when the crates are 2X $GTA/RP, which is often.

i only began doing the Securoserv thing maybe 4, 5 months ago. my crew leader introduced me to the work. I began as associate, after being a solo player ever since release of GTAO, i saw things accelerate and really take off for the first time. The activities and the order in which my leader did them didn't make sense, but they did a lot of sales, some crates in between, fortified, headhunter, hostile takeover, MC club jobs, in such a way that there was no more than 10 seconds in between jobs if we wanted. My money and RP earnings went thru the roof and I was making a lot more bread than I could have ever made on my own. Nowadays I understand why they did the jobs they did in the order they were, so it was a great learning experience for me and opened up a large part of the game I hadn't experienced before
