I had probably my 'best' griefer incident yet last night (and had I known would have recorded it)--was hilarious!

Was minding my own business searching for my treasure chest at Cattail Pond (west of Valentine) when I noticed two players on the edge of my mini-map. Quickly checking the map, I noticed they were showing suspicious 'loitering' signs--not just traveling past--so I get out my double-barreled shotgun, quickly found my treasure, and started riding east-ish toward Valentine.

I noticed they started following me, so I hightailed it as fast and far as I could--but had to stop as I came to the cliff edge (plenty in that area--blue arrow below). I hopped down onto a small ledge just below the cliff, and as one of the griefers approached me (on their horse, galloping fast), managed to plug him directly with my shotgun.

Not only did I get the kill, but (due to his momentum) he and his horse went flying over the cliff edge. His friend hung back a bit, and I didn't want to push my luck, so I quickly shut down the game to let him stew in his own fail... but had a great laugh at how well that one went. >8^D (I suspect he was trying to get close enough to lasso me while on his horse, as he didn't fire any shots).

They love shooting you in the back don't they? I don't know what this player was thinking but they shot my Bogey, and I like that spunky pain in the butt horse. At first I was gonna just get off the horse and go into the station and get my mail like I was intending to do in the first place, but he kept coming so I decided against that.

Given the fact that he wanted to dance, I figured I'd just pull out my repeater and wipe him off the dance floor, not to mention the fact that I was getting the impression he might slip in and out of the safe zone around the station for leverage. Lol, I suck at pvp and have been working on my free aim so this was a neat little lesson to boot. After I killed him he started to hang out around the station safe zone a little closer making him impossible to kill so I was done, obviously he/she didn't want a real fight so I left to find trouble elsewhere.

If u are looking to practise ur free aim me n amy have been doing those ruthless missions . Great practise for free aim and a lot of fun . Just watch out for the crocs on one of them

I'll have to convince everyone to try them with me, thank you! 😁 Although the big mean reptiles and me don't get along very well so that might be a big problem for me, not so much for them. Lol!

I encountered someone worse at PvP than me. A rank 47 tried griefing me, while I was playing my second character. I forgot to switch to Defensive Mode and that was probably the reason why he decided to attack me. All I have is the starter weapons at rank 6, but I whooped his ass, several times with even just the Cattleman.
Borginator80, don't make PvP your main activity in this game 😂😂

Ran into a higher rank griefer posse near Valentine, blowing me up with a dynamite arrow while picking blackberries on my second character for the daily. 2 blue dots approached, didn’t make me think of griefers right away. Boom, I’m dead and 4 red names in the list, all 400+.  I’m not gonna bother with these idiots anymore and just switch sessions and go about my business. Like I can do anything with all my 10 ranks.
Not gonna grant them their fun and not gonna waste time on them anymore. So not worth it.

^^ Yeah, what I don't understand is how these moron's dots show as blue, then only after they shoot you do they turn to red (revealing their true colors).

Is it a bug in the game? I thought the whole point of the "dot coloring" system was to serve as a warning to non-griefing players?

My new SOP is: If -any- blue dot approaches me, I take cover, load up the explosive ammo and prepare for the worst.

No, it's not a bug. They see any type of dot near them and decide to move in with full force. It's a type of mindset which I don't understand, and don't want anything to do with. Certainly not in this game.

I don't take cover when a blue dot approaches me, because 99,9% leaves me alone, no matter on what character I play. I don't linger in towns if I don't have to, btw.

If this were GTA, I'd try to fight back but unlike GTA, there's certain tools you don't have at your disposal should the going get tough.. like PASSIVE MODE!

Yes you can switch lobbies. Yes I have done that.

You shouldn't need to though.

You shouldn't be forced out of a lobby due to R*'s incompetence, refusal to give many players what they want and the antics of children.

Also, defensive mode will only help you so much and although I've never used it, doesn't parley run out after a certain period of time?

Yes, and there's nightmare stories of parley giving the attacking players godmode.

People are getting more and more bored with this game and the lack of fresh content. Many would choose to quit playing, but certain types resort to play cowboys & indians Hollywood style.
While I hardly experienced any type of ‘other player encounters’ before, it becomes more and more common to get killed these days.
I’ve either spent my luck with friendly lobbies, or players are getting more and more hostile towards other players.

I get the ‘beware of certain dangers’ idea, but lack understanding when it comes to things not dying, even if you kill them. No matter how many times you kill someone, they always come back. That’s fine in PvP modes, but not in freeroam.
If Rockstar wants to aid the defensive player, make it so that (while in freeroam) a player can only kill another player once in the same lobby session. That would be a little more realistic and less of a hassle for defensive players.

The best thing is to separate PvP and PvE players in according type lobbies and IO lobbies for those who absolutely do not appreciate other player interference of any kind or for roleplay reasons. Fun for everyone, I’d say.

After a more than a yearlong running and tons of fan feedback of this game, Rockstar should revise their vision. Their initial plan doesn’t work for several reasons and sticking to their plan ruins the game more than it’s supposed to add to gameplay.

I only "Grief" another player who interrupts what I am peacefully doing, or shoots at me or my friends without real cause, other wise I am friendly and don't bother other players unless its a friendly encounter.  However the other day I spent a good hour plus annoying another player because he started it and I was bored,  let me explain.  I was on my way to my moonshine shack and was attacked by 4 wolves.  3 of them were perfect after I killed them and since my camp supplies/materials/products are full 24/7, I decided I would do what I always do and give them to another player.  There was another blue dot in view and I could see he was at his camp, so even better.  I threw one wolf on my horse and the another on my shoulder and ran toward the camp. As I was approaching, the player started to leave his camp but I was hoping he would turn around and come back to see that I was bringing gifts and HE DID!  I dropped one carcass in the middle of camp and as as I started to grab the one off of my horse the dude rolled in with dual sawed offs blasting away and killed me.  OK...maybe he felt threatened or didn't realize what I was doing.  So I put my mic on and say "hey, I'm just trying to give you a couple animals."(I might have called him a dick too ;))  Then I notice my horse is wounded.  He shot my horse in his camp!  then started heading in my direction and shots were going by me(I'm still in defensive) so I got a few kills on him and then went and sat in his camp(after he put his white flag up) and drank his beer and washed my face constantly in his barrel.  He kept shooting at me throwing fire bottles and crap even though his flag was up.  I eventually wandered back to my camp and the dick used the rolling block riffle bug to get a cheap kill while I was in MY camp.  I could see his red dot heading toward the bounty board in Blackwater, he must have thought I was gonna let it go, GUESS AGAIN!  So I followed and never allowed him to get there.  I then went back to his camp and noticed his flag was down, so I knifed his Cripps and waited for him to come back.   And every time he did, he got met with my shotgun or a shot from the bolt action.  Any kill(2-3) that he got on me through this whole process was done through cheap kills using the white flag at his camp or sniping from a distance while I was in mine with the flag up.  So yes, I was being a dick out of boredom, but he IMO deserved it since this all originated from his dick reaction to my kindness.

^^ Yeah, at the very least, he could have simply ignored you rather than start shooting.

Were it me, I'd have given you a "wave" or "nod" emote as thanks, skinned the wolves, and headed for the butcher. :)

It seems to me that if the game aim for a more realistic approach, player blips on radar should work as a detection, like it happens with random encounters (the white dot blipping).

Usually by sound, so either talking in the mic or shooting maybe jumping, would blip you in the radar, all the rest of time if you’re just riding around or doing something else like fishing or going for new clothes, you would blend with the “npc’s”, so another player to really find you would have to be near and interacting with the character. That would bring a whole new level of experience in the game.

If the game would be more realistic, players who you kill out of defence, stay dead or get removed from your lobby and dropped in another. Or get a big fat wanted level, especially when attacking a player in defensive mode, and get law swarming over them until their dead or captured.

If people wanna play the outlaw life, this game is by far realistic, because you can do what the hell you want, without realistic consequences. It's very unrealistic that when you die, you revive again. Realism doesn't mean you have to accept that you're killed by another player for nothing only, realism goes the other direction too. Wanted players should stay wanted and be able to get caught by NPC terminator lawmen when entering a town or area, no matter what lobby you enter, just like in story mode. Commit a crime in a region, the whole region locks up for you.

And dead means dead. You bet your ass there's gonna be a lot lot lot less griefers if Rockstar implements that.

Of course, Rockstar won't, because they will f*ck up the game and make it explode since they can't even code good working camps, but it would reduce griefing by a sh*tload for sure.

If you can blend in with NPC's, your are a much easier target, since those bite the bullet a lot more often than players do :D

When I say realism, it is pointing the fact that R* is doing it in a gameplay level, and not philosophy speaking, of course its a video game and it must have its limitations so the fun lvl is a thing so to speak.

Permanent deaths is a thing that pretty sure is a choice for no player (unless crazy ones?🙃), Just like you pointed about lawman pursuit on players being more severe on story mode, the same could happen online indeed, well, not exactly the same, but it should be more difficult to get away from trouble once you start it.

Even the bounties on players, we shouldnt be able to clear them by ourselves, like a punisment for “banditism” and letting witness npcs alive.

Sure they do, yet if you are the type of master of stealth, you can go unnoticed by a player easily if you weren’t on radar, I do that a lot in GTAO.

I say find ways to make sure that real griefing players do not remain in the same server if they are killed in retaliation, but do display their character corpses at the nearest undertaker shop. You know how they used to display the dead bodies of the outlaws for the town to see, just pop their dead character's into a box like in the showdowns and let the 'taker display them proudly. Would be neat to ride into town and see a line of coffins filled with the bodies of the shamed. And this is why I should never be in charge of a video game... Lol!

^^ lol Hey, you've got my vote on the display coffins. :)

The worst of the offenders could be strung up on the town's gallows to slowly rot like in Single Player. 😱 I hear vultures are always hungry.

Or, there's the starved Grizzly pit...

See why no-one's voting for me? lol

R* needs to go after peoples egos both in GTAO and RDO. Greifers do it to feed their egos.

"Greifer X died like a little bitch to Player Y" would suffice.

With all due respect, you have no right nor authority to tell people what to do and furthermore my post is not a B&M, it is a suggestion of how Justice could be served. Not every post about griefers is a B&M.

Game suggestion topics then.

If you have some decency you'd keep on topic when I request you too.

I know I haven't posted here in a while, but I like to come in once in a while to check out cool videos or stories of assholes getting their ass kicked, and when I did this time, it had completely derailed

An ominous thunderstorm, a lonely rider, and an opportunistic bandit don't make for a good mix. So just to be up front, navigating the stupid wheel is a jagged knife to me, and I tried to revive the player's horse because I am just too nice but it wouldn't let me so I moved on. Gods I hate that wheel mechanism!!!

LOL. Yes, I can concur. I called my pump action shotgun "The Punisher" for obvious reasons.
