About time.

I wonder if I'll be able to craft special snake oil when this is out?

Fairly sure at least some of those clothing items will cost gold. My bet is on the rattlesnake hat at the very least.

As for the guns, I'm fairly sure Rockstar won't lock it behind their premium money, after all, that'd invoke a ton of people picking up their torches and pitchforks for locking powerful weapons behind gold in a game that is not F2P in the first place. People still have that salty taste in their mouth after the whole Battlefront 2 thing with EA.

I'm staying hopeful that we don't get businesses like we did in GTAO. I liked them but I just don't want them here. This game needs something unique. What exactly? I dunno.

I think they already confirmed businesses for RDO, specially considering they said in interviews they're taking GTAO DLCs such as Gunrunning and whatnot as base for the game. Right now, they're just adding the basics to RDO in a desperate attempt to glue everything together with gum and spit so the fanbase doesn't completely vanish. I'd expect a big DLC related to businesses by the second semester of the year, but don't cross your fingers.

I really would dislike seeing this game go down the exact same path as GTAO by adding businesses and whatnot. I quit GTAO and migrated to RDO because it has so much potential to be a much less toxic and something much more unique. There's a lot of original things they could do with the wild west setting to make RDO differ from other games and that's what I'm hoping Rockstar will do.

I personally believe Red Dead Online has gotten worse with each update that has been released. Back when they added the Gold Bar Store to a fking Beta, I knew Red Dead Online had a limited amount of life. I tried to remain hopeful since then but R* makes it way too difficult to trust them or their "plan."

Yeah but like GTAO nothing will be easy or come without risks. I'd bet we'll never be able to prospect or mine for gold. That would be too easy and lucrative. But I can see them offering players businesses with significant risk, involving difficult tasks. We're likely to see a Wells Fargo-style stagecoach business, for example, requiring players to safeguard payroll deliveries and what not, like we see in the game now but on a bigger level. Then you'd have to hire other players to guard your deliveries.

I wish R* would deviate from what they've done in GTA instead of copying & pasting the established formula onto a 19th century game model. But from what I've seen, no way. Nothing original or novel in this game whatsoever: it's GTA all over again, with fewer players, and fewer (and less effective) weapons & vehicles. I'm disappointed but hardly surprised, they're taking the path of least resistance: why take a chance with something innovative -- that requires more work -- when they could go with what has worked for them already, with less work?

Problem is, this product isn't even a good copy/paste job. We have fewer options (no separate lobbies); less content than the original GTA game had at the same juncture; less customization (e.g. we could customize cars in various ways yet all horses of various breeds are the same exact appearance and color); far fewer weapons than they actually had in 1890s America (knives, axes, gun models); no hotel rooms or cabins in which to spawn and prepare ourselves; too few options of hair/facial hair styles; and as my wife says, not nearly enough options for females. GTAO was better...hell, you could rob stores and steal/sell cars! In RDO, you can't do either: you can rob an NPC for 8 cents, gimme a break.

GTAO was at least better than this game is, in all kinds of ways. So if they're going to make this a copy/paste of GTA onto the Wild West, they should up their game.

You can‘t really compare GTAO to the state this game is in right now, imo.

Of course not. But if you draw comparisons between the way GTAO was months after beginning and how this game is, GTA was better in many ways.

I don't want them merely to copy and paste that formula onto this game. I wish R* would be revolutionary in its approach instead. But from what I see so far, there is nothing amazing gameplay-wise, no fresh concepts, no new approach. In many ways, it could be improved.

I still like the game and will continue playing it. I love the idea of a premium quality mmo set in the Wild West! I just hope it gets a whole lot better.

I was hoping for some revolutionary approach too.

Only thing revolutionary right now is that they can obviously fix stuff without downloadable files. But that‘s it for now I guess..

The thing I like about RDO over GTAO is that you're much more grounded into the world by things like herb scavenging, hunting, cooking/crafting which makes it unique compared to GTAO. I'd like to see them expand on that and they kind of are with elements of the upcoming update, i.e the fishing competitions. Throw in things like poker/dominoes, camp upgrades via hunting, legendary hunts, wardrobe upgrades via hunting etc and I'll be happy. I'd also like to see RDO variants of things like 'hasta la vista' from GTAO which was just wacky and fun af.

Regarding the requested lobbies, I don't think we'll be getting them and I don't really care if we don't.

But especially the playerbase can‘t be compared. I have friends who I‘ve met ingame that play regularly too, so I‘m not that often alone.

RDR can‘t account for your friends boredom in the game, compared to gta.

It is really not surprising at all that Rdr aims at a different target group.

I want to see less of player-owned businesses and more of PvP bounty hunting, stage coach robbing (like how it worked with the security vans in GTAO) - emergent opportunities, store robberies, gambling..

The fishing challenges sound alright but I’ve had issues getting fish to spawn in recently, soooo... 🤦‍♂️

But anyway, I hope they follow it up with herb picking and hunting challenges too.

My excitement level over the state of RDO at the moment is a solid 5/10.

yeah really dislike the gold but if it pushes the game into something substantial and gives us gambling then i wont mind too much.

not spending money myself though but i'll happily surf the golden wave like the freeloader that i am!

Why do I got the feeling of they are going to do just in GTA:O just release a sh*t ton of adversary modes. And say hey look we added content!

Just want to dive deeper in the online story!

New clothes seem cool. But without invite only, I ain’t playing.

really? other players are overwhelmingly friendly in my experience. just don't go to the parts of the map where large groups of players congregate. although that may become more difficult after the 26th...

I'm excited for the clothing only, tbh. I better be able to look like a decent priced prostitute now!

Some okay stuff... but 4 months in and still under "BETA." Most of it's GTA-style... GTA is there if you want those modes and gameplay, why can't R* imagine RDO as a different game?

I am. If I'm supposed to imagine RDO being GTA, well no imagination needed. RDO is obviously following the GTA playbook. If GTA with simplified deathmatch weapons and horses is different enough for you, well, congrats. And eventually, the weapons won't be so simple, becoming more like GTA. Already a "high capacity" repeater. GTA in the Old West. No imagination needed for that.

I hope the parley changes don't make it like passive mode. That'd really sh*t on the game, at a point where it just can't afford to be shat on.

You've got a point... But all I need is some cleavage and I'll be happy.

(They kinda look top heavy with the chemise on)

The builds don't look good. Athletic has shoulders sticking out. Average has wide waist. Brawny and heavy look too big. The cleavage doesn't show easily unless go with average and above. It looks terrible that it makes skinny look good and more natural.

You know SP isn't getting the Evans.

One thing is certain. Whether they do or don't, we will learn a lot about the future of SP from that repeater's presence or absence in SP.

Yeah, we'll know more next week. But it does come across right now that 1 kill and we can with no clear definitions.

I hope your right. Another load of passive abuse would really turn some away after years of bollocks in GTA. :)
