R* should add SP content with each Online update to get people to play Online.

Stuff from the Online update should be available in SP like new outfits, weapons etc. Perhaps not everything but a high resolution version of some of the items added. All weapons should be added to SP but perhaps we could get two new outfits each update and a new Legendary animal to hunt.

This is the kicker that I think people will hate but I feel its a fair compromise for us and R*...you must play an hour of Online to unlock the new SP stuff. Just one hour, do what you want but one hour. Or I feel its more controversial but R* would like t more, to unlock Onine stuff for SP you need to buy it in Online. So if you want the new coat you need to buy it Online and you unlock it for purchase in SP. By buy I mean with in game money, not lock it behind MT's.

Or, they could just add anything from Online to SP without an Online paywall, considering you need to pay to access XBL Gold/PS+

It's just adding locked content for those who do not wish to play Online and purely play Single Player, the idea of content locked behind an action in online is seriously dumb and needs to stop being a trend. Make more clothes for online, sure, but don't try and tease those who only want the outfit in SP and lock it behind having to buy it in Online, which might require hours of grinding.

In an ideal world yes but its not an ideal world and this is a fair compromise for everyone.

Bollocks! I don’t even have Xbox Gold. It would be almost as bad as releasing a new Xbox with the DRM online check like they first announced for Xbox One. Fortunately they back tracked!!!

I'd be OK with that. Online character uses Arthur's body type anyways and it's stupid that Online has better customisation than the main game.

Exactly. I feel this is a fair compromise between the people that want SP stuff and R* getting the numbers of Online players up.

some stuff should be added to SP from online but maybe restrict it to completing a new mission instead of time played. A good idea would be to introduce a fetch quest type mission for an exotic tailor type stranger.

eg. go here - kill/bribe/intimidate - secure materials/instructions - return to tailor - unlock outfit/items.

Sound boring but imagine the backlash rockstar would get for forcing online play to unlock outfits. At least with it as part of an online stranger mission it can stillbe called "optional" in some way.

Anything is really acceptable. I am just suggesting a compromise between the players and R*.

It should be the case where Online content you buy (i.e. guns, clothing) is unlocked in SP.

Gives players a reason to grind in Online, draws in SP players who might not otherwise bother with Online, and at least tosses a bone to SP.

But of course, it's Rockstar we're talking about.

If they did force me to play that mess of online right now to access content in story mode, that really would be the last straw and I'd sell the game.

I don't like the limited/forced way online is, and the only way I can try to express that to R* is not contribute to it's player count in hope of better additions/choices. Equally, though I'd love story mode to expand, and it is one of my favourite games too, this idea if implemented would taint it and I'd be quite annoyed to the point I'd sack it off. I just have zero interest in RDRO.

I'm sorry dude, as much as I want content added to story, this isn't a good idea for me I feel. I'd rather no DLC/content arrive offline than this. Though do appreciate your trying yo find an appealing way for R* to add to story mind you. :)

I wouldn't play online. And as said in the previous post, I would never buy another R* game if the stipulation for SP content was having to play online.

They need to just skip online all together and make an SP game, or I'd even settle for the ability to have a co-op story. As long as it's not mandatory, and that was the only online option. IMHO, online ruins everything. The whole online movement has overstayed its welcome. Games like RDR could be so much better if the focus was on SP. It's not just Rockstar... any good company knows how to make more money, and that is where it will stay. Greed wins. Stories suffer.

Also, I refuse to pay to connect to the internet. Steam does it for free (not that I utilize it anyways), but having to pay around $140/month for cable/internet initially plus however much you spend on your smartphone etc etc... not shelling out anymore for that bullsh*t. I don't do netflix or any of that crap either and even this year, I gave up on Amazon Prime due to the increase in cost. Now I just wait a couple days longer for packages. These companies know most games offer online play, but they still charge you to be able to connect and in game they offer "packages" to be bought with real money. No thank you. Suck it. Pretty soon Google will begin to charge for search results.

R* wont give us SP DLC, we know that (Although I hope that RDR2 dies) and the only option is for us to get RDRUNII.

If they wanted to make an online game they should have just made a dedicated online game

Much easier to shove it in with a highly anticipated game with MILLIONS of pre orders and sales than to release it on its own and risk a flop or criticism since it wouldn't be a "free" addition to the game and would instead need to be purchased separately.

Just like then using the "its just a BETA bro" excuse for sh*tty Online.

I did warn people, I warned them all.

I really would rather no story DLC than have to play online to unlock it though. Strongly feel RDRO is terrible and won't go online again there until the game proves itself.

They won't, they want you to buy these items in the online mode for only 5 GOLD BARS!

All jokes aside, I don't think they'll add anything to the SP anymore, they want you to buy these items in online, they WANT you to play Online

TBH, unlocking SP content via the multiplayer is something I wouldn't like to see either- BUT if it was a choice between having no further SP updates à la GTAV and at having at least having some additional content in SP, I would take the latter- RDR2 SP still has far too much potential to be abandoned, and it would be supremely frustrating if that were to pass (like it seems to be right now).

Ideally, we would have some robust free updates alongside content/mission packs for SP (like Ubisoft and Asscreed Odyssey) throughout 2019 if Rockstar were truly passionate about it, but it looks like they've thrown in the towel and are focusing their efforts onto Online. Let's just hope that's not the case...

They're just catering to the "yes men" and people who think they can do no wrong, and disregard the voices of loyal fans who have been with them since the beginning saying "maybe this isn't the best way."

It's like they learned nothing from their own story!

I'd rather just have story DLC added like old, gladly pay for it if they do rather than be forced to endure online as it stands. I can look into reviews and see if it has value then and choose, and by doing so it makes R* accountable. For if it's sh*t, people won't buy it as much. I get ya though, this game has huge potential and like you, I do hope they look to add more here.

I do believe paid DLC of old is a long shot though, and can appreciate others are fine with online too. Just would rather not have the 2 areas cross over myself as it'll make online seem more popular than it truly is as many will do the minimum and that'll send R*/T2 a false message that online is 'good' as I strongly feel it really isn't, lol.

Opens up a big bag of worms, IMO.

It's a tricky one.

  1. Just straight up putting the new content into SP would mean many players wouldn't bother with MP, as they can enjoy the new content without, and so R* would lose potential income from this (less people online potentially spending $$).
  2. If they lock new content to MP, some people will be upset - they want to enjoy new content but only play SP.
  3. If new content for MP can be unlocked in SP once obtained in MP - same as above, the SP only players will be upset, though possibly less so.

Perhaps if they implement a way that allows new MP content to be used in SP immediately once acquired in MP, but also a much longer drawn out way of acquiring it in SP only could be achieved. This could appease the SP crowd. However R* may avoid something like this as - it's more work on their part, and again as with point 1, there's less potential profit on their part (but maybe an overall happier player base, which might lead to better profits long term, who knows?)

And then yea of course paid DLC options as others have mentioned.

I'm sure their statistics show that it doesn't matter if players are happy or not, their target demographic will still spend money.
