I have some different opinions, namely in GTA Vice City, The Lost and Damned, The Ballad of Gay Tony and V.

 

• Vice City - I'd raise it up a little due to its atmosphere, story, characters and map. But I agree that it's a little overrated, to some extent.
• The Lost and Damned & The Ballad of Gay Tony - I'd reverse their ratings because I think that the former performs a more solid, interesting and consistent story, with a cast of likable and well developed characters. I also prefer its storyline's missions, since they're consistent to the game's theme, and stayed grounded even though action-packed. Same applies to its side-missions and minigames, and I believe they suit its story more than The Ballad of Gay Tony's do. Not to mention that I also prefer the weapons it added more than those which were added in TBOGT, especially that the former's are more criminally built, which is more suitable for a crime-based franchise.
• V - It's a very good game, and I appreciate the effort that was put on it, but I'd rank it somewhere nearby (or maybe same as) Liberty City Stories, due to its inconsistent theme, underdeveloped characters, absence of crouch, dumbed down fighting mechanics and euphoria, too arcady driving, lack of accessible interiors, downgraded A.I. and more reasons that many people (including me) constantly mentioned in some other threads.

GTA IV: Breaks the traditional out of 10 scale and far exceeds it. Unrivalled masterpiece that can't be accurately measured..

Vice City: 10/10

GTA III. 9.5/10

TLAD: 9.5/10

 

These are the only GTA games worth rating. The rest fall somewhere to being ok/good or something like that.
