Drew Steamboat Posted February 20, 2019 Share Posted February 20, 2019 As many/some are aware, Red Dead Online freeroam is severely broken for many/some. Wildlife will not spawn, vendors catalogues freeze game, horses gone awol, along with many more issues. Main issues affecting many/some seem to have started on Feb 17th. Xbox apparently affected more so than PlayStation, and issues not generally location related. Usual fixes like reboot or changing sessions have varied results. Personally, no luck. Ive been lucky upto this last weekend. I realized yesterday though that I can switch session to (maybe) get the wildlife to spawn in again. But overall it’s just a mess really. Assblaster Posted February 20, 2019 Share Posted February 20, 2019 It's been better for me tonight: no disconnects; wildlife is there; and my horse bonding staying at level 4. All good tonight! Even cleared a gang hideout without any problems. No grief either, fewer people playing tonight in the sessions I was in. I session-hopped a bit over several hours. Adding microtransactions with the game in the condition it's in is just unacceptable. My wallet is closed until some of these issues are fixed. R* needs to do some PR damage control here. Sometimes it's a pain to sell stuff at the butcher but it eventually works. When I'm hunting birds they'll freeze in mid air or killed animals will just despawn. I was in Lemoyne, where my character (name not worth knowing since it's chosen only to never be used again) was originally from. Before I was disconnected, but after walking to Saint Denis from Rhodes (since my horse, and all other animals had died apparently), I went into a shop to see if I could buy a gun. "Would you like to see some wares?" asked the shop owner. I emoted a wave and opted to buy something. Then my screen froze on a ghost like image of my own avatar suspended in time/space awaiting something that would never arrive from an unhelpful and coldly quiet salesperson. A digital still life approximating fun if fun were standing still for all of time. I feel this sums up RDO as well as Rockstar. In response they are implementing changes where animals no longer appear during missions and closing vendors down for business while on a mission. This causing unforeseen side effects, mainly those changes also applying to normal free roam instead of just on missions. Its the only reason I can imagine why wildlife is going extinct and being frozen in place when attempting to interact with a vendor. Its very suspicious and cannot think of anything otherwise that would lead to the game suddenly performing like this. Anything that benefits the player, even if its isolating themselves from the cancerous community so they can hunt in peace, they do away with that wherever it is found. I honestly suspect they are never going to give us the solo sessions we want, they want us unable to separate ourselves from the toxicity. Hard to progress when players keep holding you back, which is just what they want. It rather seems that more animals spawn in mission, which would make sense, cause I guess less background scripts that could cause issues are running during missions. I can't steal a horse or wagon because NPCs are invisible or they are non-existent. Wild Horses won't move... they just stand still, so riding them is out of the question. Gang Hideouts and Ambushes don't even happen anymore and back when they did, they were broken and never fully "Cleared" the area. Right now this game is more of a headache then it is fun, entertaining, or interesting. Second you try to sell your goods to a butcher, the damn game will freeze up and will have to shut down and restart the whole game entirely. Everything outside of Story Missions and Showdowns right now isn't functioning. Game already had so little to offer to begin with, now half of what little we do have doesn't even work. Just marvelous. Cannot even buy anything, this at least may spur them into doing something about it if it gets in the way of their bottom line. Joined ppl directly from there and freeroam worked fine multiple times, wildlife everywhere, horse no longer awol, butcher in business etc. Europeans and 'hunty' soundin' groups worked well, since xbox US seems most affected. ShayD Posted February 22, 2019 Share Posted February 22, 2019 on PS4 for me, outfits are bugged and dont stay on my horse when I load back online, no animals spawning in, no NPC's in towns, not being able to buy items (stuck on "processing"), horse wont come when I whistle, cant replay story missions, random disconnects, crafting ammo bugged, camp wont stop fu*king moving around, and random dissapearing textures/walls just to name a few :^) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I lasted about 3 or 4 minutes before the game crashed and kicked me to the dashboard again. I hope they fix this with the update. In the meantime back to gtao. Assblaster Posted February 24, 2019 Share Posted February 24, 2019 Well I dunno about stranger missions cuz I don't do those, but I did have one (and only one) disconnect in three days of play. Again I'm on ps4. No problems otherwise. When I did disconnect, I started again and all was fine. There are likely to be more problems (obviously) once they unleash the new stuff soon, and I'm sure disconnects and bugs will happen as the flood of players puts a strain on the servers. All that should settle down nicely, hopefully, after the hype dies down and everything returns more or less to normal. I did do a gang hideout today at the start of a good day of hunting, fishing, and freeroaming (with no griefing at all, I'm happy to say) across more than a few populated sessions. Hope it stays as problem-free as it was (for me at least) today. By the way, my horse-bonding bug is definitely fixed. If anyone is having theirs still bugged, I suggest changing saddles, that's when it seemed to start working for me. Maybe the game isn't so dead after all -- knock on wood.
