Make death and being arrested more meaningful

So first off getting arrested in the GTA series is pretty much a joke, it is so easy to avoid having a police officer stop and arrest you that it literally never happens unless I allow them to catch me.

Rockstar should rethink the mechanics of the series and make the next more challenging, police officers should be more intelligent and it should be easier to be arrested.

Once arrested instead of spawning outside of the police station how about waking up in a jail cell and depending on the crime rating you had when you were arrested the time you have to spend in prison increases, or you can attempt to break free from jail and then depending on your crime rating the a.i. of the jail/prison faculty increases.

So then breaking out of jail basically becomes a game of its own.

Then the next thing to tackle is death, give players more of a reason to stay alive, make dying more punishing.

Maybe rockstar could add an optional permadeath mode you can toggle on and off.

With arrests we should end up at the station with a cutscene of the protagonist getting processed and yelled at by cops.

Also if we get busted we should be able to kick out the windows of a police car and make a run for it on foot.

In my personal opinion, it should remain faithful to the old gtas without over complicating it, but still try something a LITTLE different and new.

Since there most likely won't be a special ability thing if you press the joysticks at the same time you put your hands up for arrest at any time but it will only work twice per star

1 star - cops try to arrest you with no violence (takes 15 to 20 seconds to lose)

2 stars - cops will use melee weapons/tasers and tackle you to handcuff you until you can break free (takes 30 seconds to lose)

3 stars - they wil now shoot (still try to arrest you if your health is ike 50% or 25%) (takes 1 minute to loose)

4 stars - shotgun police, more backup, police helicopters and lightly armoured police (essentially 3 stars) (takes 1 minute and 30 seconds to lose)

5 stars - noose/swat comes with smgs and tear gas (no longer try to arrest you however you can still put your hands up for arrest but they won't go out of their way) (takes 2 minutes and 15 seconds to lose)

6 stars - noose/swat and fib with MUCH more back up rifles, grenades and annihilators with the driver ACTUALLY using the mounted minigun (putting your hands up no longer works and they will just shoot up) (takes 3 minutes to lose)

I'm not actually a fan of the whole "ARMY after one guy" thing just a little too over the top for me.

I think a busted screen SHOULDN'T actually exist and when you get busted you can escape anytime but the wanted level will still be on you OR you can skip the whole drive with the press of a button (fast travel) and you are immediately in your cell. You can still bust out anytime anytime with a little mini game or calling your friends to do a mini heist to bust you out with 5+ stars on you. You can ALSO just pay the bail which will play a cutscene than fade you screen to black and your let out from a police station for a fee.

Being arrested should cost you all your guns, not merely your ammunitons, also in terms of plausibilty and immersion.

Might depend on your wanted level though:

1 star, costs you your current car and a fee

2 stars, costs you your current car, a fee and all weapons except handguns and melee weapons

3 stars and above, all weapons gone and fee

Death should cost you all weapons and ammunition when killed by Law Inforcement, this wouldn't make it overcomplicated but the player should both avoid to be killed by law enforcement and to be arrested and it also adds realism that you don't start a killing spree for a minor infraction whatever this is in GTA.

I feel like dying and getting arrested is already punishing  I want it to be more fleshed out but I don’t think it should be too hard most games just load your last save when you die but in gta you actually lose money and progress, we don’t want it be too annoying.

Bro, that's not fun. When I play GTA, I'm not trying to play a wannabe simulation. Especially not a simulation of events that'd happen after something you do a lot in the game.

Plus, it'll easily get old for people that just wanna play freeroam and screw themselves over somehow.

Nothing stops Rockstar from adding multiple difficulty modes. Freeroam, normal, hardcore or something like that. The only time they did it was in an update for RDR1 and it was really cool. For me personally having the game to be more realistic and with consequences for your every action adds more impact to the actual "crazy" stuff you do in the game, and thus making it even more fun.

I’ve always thought difficultly levels works better in certain games (like rpgs) but not so much in gta becuase it’s hard to design missions and general gameplay in a way to make all difficultly levels fun. Plus if anyone could change the diffuculty level at anytime every time you see a mission you can’t finish you can just change the difficultly level but if you make it where you can’t change the difficulty it makes it frustrating becuase when you start the game your not sure how hard the difficulty actually is but in order to change it you have to restart the entire game.

Make death permanent like in real life. After you die you are not abel to start the game anymore. It will show a massage "GAME OVER, you are dead".

It will change the way of playing. Maybe you won´t start a criminal career, instead you play as bus driver or veterinary. You are also able to look for a health care.
