[GTAIII] Custom pickups?

Hi everyone!

I'm currently coding a mission pack for GTA III. After a few custom missions, I thought it would be nice to include the function to buy property (ofcourse GTAIII doesn't have that, but it can be implemented with main.scm). When the player buys it, the save pickup would appear (like in GTA VC/GTA SA).

The problem is, there is no PICKUPSAVE model in GTA3 so I thought to port it over... and everything went well (after a few crashes ofcourse), but the problem is... it looks and works like an object (no corona, no pickup sound, no rotation, nothing).

So... the question is: is it possible to add custom pickups to GTAIII?

I'm using ModLoader and I've modified gta3.dat, generic.ide and object.dat

The pickup is created using 0213 opcode:

0213: $TESTPSAVE = create_pickup #PSAVE type 2 at 119.7002 -477.0096 15.9403

is it possible to check if it it is picked up?

if
0214:   pickup $TESTPSAVE picked_up
jf @skip

also consider the type, type 1, type 2, type 3 and so on

test several type, type give different behavior, like appear only one time, or appear again and again, or show price, ect.

@ZAZ 0214 opcode works 😃

As for types:

1 - no corona, but can be picked up, price doesn't appear at all, pickup sound plays

2 - nothing

3-4 - same as 1

5 - hidden package, but with no effects

6 - nothing

7 - pickup sound plays, no effects

8-13 - nothing

14 - can be picked up, but with no effects/sfx

15 - nothing

I think the pickup effects (coronas) are hardcoded in the game EXE 🙁
