Weird. That should do it. My coldweather outfit is woolshirt, sheep skin vest and jacket. Just sheep skin vest + jacket is suitable for coldweather as well

Yea that's weird, the sheep wool jacket + wool sweater should do it. Are you sure you have the correct sweater?

Wool sweater or shirt like you're doing should both be good. Even if you only wear sheepskin jacket with normal shirt it should suffice for average temperatures.

Sometimes there are little bugs like this that correct themselves by changing sessions. Have you tried that?

For females it's just "Woolen sweater" I think, it unlocks at level 70+ I wanna say? I dunno about male characters unfortunately.

My setup for my cold weather outfit is exactly the same as yours though I think, but I don't even need the outdoorsman vest for it. Might be a bug 😕

its probably a screen glitch that is def good enough for the cold. or when you go shopping pick the ones that say made for cold. you should go up in the snow with what you have and see if you are dropping bars faster then you know if its just an on screen glitch or not. for a lot of people when they go to player it says they are way way way under weight with -125 but isnt the case

You're allowed to use a horse. Or fast travel.

In my experience though, if it says its for warm weather, it is.

I have a problem with making an average outfit using the brakeman jacket.

Warm vest + warm shirt + cold coat = suitable for hot weather.

But no shirt + no vest + sheep skin jacket = average

Warm jacket + anything else warm = cold weather

Its glitchy as hell. We'll just have to wait 2 years for R to fix it.

This, and the glitchy weight is annoying as hell.

It’s so random. I’m rank 66 or thereabout and I still haven’t bought a cold weather outfit because I honestly don’t know what’ll work. From what I can tell I’ll need a woolen sweater or shirt or whatever it’s called and that unlocks at rank 79. I mean, what the hell.

I’m going to combine that with a sheepskin vest and sheepskin jacket.

And the weight. Like, can you just say how many pieces of meat I need to eat to get to average/perfect and I’ll do it. I’m constantly underweight and I’ve stopped caring, I eat when my cores are visibly down but I could eat 30 pieces of big game meat and still be underweight so why the f*ck bother.

Grrr.

Weight gains register when you switch free roam sessions, so if you want to gain weight quickly, eat 1 big game meat and switch sessions until you're at desired weight.  Each big game improves your health by 1.5% (limit is +1.5% per session which is why you have to switch, and more than 1 big game is a waste), while other meats like venison and pork increase health by 0.75%.  At minimum weight, your health is reduced by 7.5% so 5 big game meats will give you perfect weight (balanced health and stamina).  I don't care much for stamina so I like to keep my character at max weight.  Brawny and heavy body types are the only ones that visibly change as you gain weight.  At max weight, it's hilarious.

But if I was perfect or overweight, then how would I change my weight back down?

your weight will fall, as soon as you stop eating, after 1-2 ingame hours, you should be underweight again.

to keep my average weight, i eat every 15-30 ingame minutes cooked meat etc

Don't eat the good stuff like big game or snacks that makes you gain weight.  Your health boost from weight goes down 0.75% every game day (48 minutes), or 16 hours to go from max weight to minimum.  If you're trying to lose weight fast, but need to refill your cores, eat low quality meat like gamey bird or stringy meat.  Those don't affect your weight at all.  General rule: if the meat sells for 45 cents or more at the butcher, it'll cause you to gain weight.  For pvp players, I recommend max weight because of the health boost.  I receive less damage at max weight than I did as an fully underweight player with Tier 3 Fight Another Day and Single Purpose.

I suspected as much but wasn't really sure till now. I noticed my brawny guy seemed to be withstanding more shots than my lighter characters. Kinda woulda been nice to have known all this before I created characters, but R* prefers to leave us in the dark about everything. Thanks for the info!

I use Rugged outfit with jacket from posse outfit settings.  Works great.  Having a persistent posse is worth it just for the outfits.

Yep this is true enough. I experimented with my Hoss character (brawny) by session-hopping over 16 times, eating a can of corned beef each time. I got him overweight by doing this, and visibly fatter. I returned to the same cabin in the Heartlands, where I got the canned beef back each time. So yeah, pretty cool, thanks again!

@Zoop_Leroy thanks for the info, really useful stuff. I prefer being underweight for roleplaying purposes, but it's been fun to play around with. Definitely glad I went with a brawny character now.

As for OPs question, as others have said,  that outfit should be ok in the cold weather. But, if it helps any, I'm using Union Suit, Sheepskin Vest and Sheep Wool Jacket, which works as a cold weather combination.

I've had more fun playing the game with a brawny character, but the thing I hate is the clipping.  With the overweight characters, your gun belt will sometimes disappear completely into your gut lol

In cold weather on my primary character I use the sheep wool jacket, vest, wool shirt, gloves, whitfield pants, boots & hat of course, and the deschutes scarf. Works fine.

The only thing I use is my Bison coat now that i have it unlocked. There is a vest, coat, shirt, and gloves that can be used by level 25 I think. I'll admit that it's very pretty up in the north, but not a lot to do. I really hope R* doesnt disappoint with this update. There needs to be more added.

I wish they would give us more outfit slots that we can store on our horse. 5 should be absolute minimum, 10 would be ideal.

I had this bug for a while with wool shirt, sheep jacket and a vest. If you put on the outfit from your horse inventorry while mounted instead of wardrobe it will work, it will still say suitable for average weather in wardrobe menu but it will work in cold weather.
