Wickahoney
Has anyone else been invited by a posse leader to hunt them down? Just curious what the typical experience is as I've only accepted it once and had all of 35 seconds to get the leader. My experience: I was fishing on the north bank of the Upper Montana River where it meets Flat Iron Lake. There's a posse hanging out in Blackwater, mostly towards the south end of town. I get the invite and decide to accept as I've never done this before. 35 seconds. Put my fishing rod away, mount my horse, swim across river, get hung up on rocks as I try to take the cut through the cliffs, and finally, take a spectacular tumble as I ride my horse over the cliff. Needless to say I never got close to the leader. DrKrankenstein and chef_archie
chef_archie
I've been on both sides of this, uneventful and pays nothing. Feels like of the few things they got right with GTAO, they failed to bring it to RDO. Player interaction has little meaning in this game, and not a single idea feels fleshed out or even tested to see if it makes sense.
rusbeckia
Dunno. A posse I was a member of recently did this between every stranger mission. Was a little cash/xp extra, but not enough that I would have remembered how much lol not one single time did someone try to approach us. Maybe that was also because we were a posse of 7 players with 6 of them over lvl 100.
U Carmine
I haven't been invited to this. But I do know that my posse once started this without my permission, and all we did was camp out at the top of bar in blackwater. Nobody came to us. It was a waste of time. I forgot how much it gave but it wasn't good enough.

Nah, I wasn't posse leader. I thought they were gonna start showdown but instead, they triggered free roam event. Wickahoney
Can the posse leader set the timer, or is that just another thing that's bugged in this game? It'd be nice if the timer didn't start until both players were within shooting distance of each other and you didn't get rewarded if no one engages. Van_Hellsing
I accepted an invitation to a posse. We did the 'Kill each one of them'. Some xp, why not. After the mission, we just stood there. Suddenly, the posse was disbanded. Time to leg it immediately. Sure enough, my hat flew off. I rode my horse behind a hill and I was off to greener pastures. Posse invites are just a way to get a cheap shot in the back. I vowed never to accept an invitation, until Rockstar fixes this sh#t.

I tend to ignore most posse invites I get because most of them are from some random who's halfway across the map, though I have had one positive experience with a posse invitation. (I was fishing off the dock in Blackwater and another player came over and started fishing next to me. Got an invite after I sold my fish and they showed me a good spot for sturgeon.) At least with Hunt the Leader invites, shootouts are expected assuming you can get close enough to land a shot.
IamCourtney
Enh, I've met lots of cool people so far by hitting the Posse Up button on the launch screen or leaving a temporary posse in open invite mode. Been ganked some times too, but so what? The benefit of meeting new allies far outweighs the extremely minor inconvenience of a cheap, inconsequential kill here and there. rusbeckia
If only been shot in the back once by the posse leader. And i‘ve been in A LOT random posses. Players who never accept posse invites just for this single reason should stop acting like a child and use one of the most fun gameplay mechanics online has to offer. I don't accept posse invites because I'm doing my own thing and don't feel like dropping everything just to join someone on the other side of the map. If I wanted to join a posse I would've selected 'Posse Up'. Though, who knows, one of these days I might decide to stop being an antisocial a-hole and accept an invite. Back to the original topic, does anyone know if the posse leader can set the timer on the Hunt the Leader invite, or does R* really expect me to kill the Leader within 35 seconds? Nobody sets the timer. If you joined Hunt the Leader late, you'll probably have less time. Because the posse that started it, must've had a timer before you joined in.
