Anyone else think we run too fast?

Recommended Posts

I might be one of very few people that don't like how fast we run. It's great getting to where you want to go fast but now you gotta prepare yourself for lasso tackles and just tackles in general. Unless I missed out there's literally no way to counter a tackle. All you can do is just take the tackle and try buck the other player off. Meanwhile, there's interactions with non player enemies that allow you to throw someone off you while being tackled. Why didn't they implement this? Either case, I just wanted to see what the community thinks about this. Do you want to see this remain untouched when Red Dead Online Beta is officially over or do you want it expanded upon and made balanced?

I think it's okay to be honest, but then again I've had repeated instances where my stubborn-ass horse refuses to come to me while I need to make my escape. Maybe that's why I'm fine leaving fire trails when getting the hell outta Valentine.

Though I still seem to suck at changing direction on foot without the turning circle of a heavy goods vehicle

Do you think you wouldnt have to prepare yourself for lasso tackles if everyone would run a bit slower? 🤔

BUT THE BENZ

as coleco mentioned, sometimes you whistle for your horse but when at the same time you run away from it it just doesn't get close to you - even though it should when you constantly whistle for it/mark your position. maybe, that's because we do indeed run too fast. ran through town recently and wondered why my arms were flapping so "hectically", thought it was due to underweight or something.

IMO the running speed is fine, but I would love to have a third speed between the mosey walking and the full sprinting. That power walk that we have in single player camps would be nice to use out in the rest of the world.

We have gotten slower over time through the years. Have you forgotten how fast you could run in the old days of Gta back in the 3D generation? Now that was greased lightning right there, and you did not have to worry about slipping on a two degree incline like you have to these days.

What really bothers me is that my character is far more sure-footed by jumping around terrain like they're Mario than just, you know... walking.

I find myself facepalming and shouting "Really?!" at the screen because my character acts like the world of RDO is covered with invisible banana peels.

I used to go exploring in rough African terrain as a kid with most every kind of texture and terrain in the game (except snow), and I can assure you I never slipped even close to that much.

Okay I didn't wanna mention it before but I was gonna add in how this drastically unbalances freeaim shootouts. The clunky controls combined with everyone not just running but able to duck and still maintain a nice trot. Meanwhile, in GTA online the running speed was just right for me to tear someone's head off before they reached me. Also, I don't think anyone noticed but you do run a lot slower in RDR2 story mode.

My only counter to all this ridiculous tackle crap (keep in mind I'm freeaim) is to start my gun fights near a fence or by something I can climb in just in case someone has the bright idea to run up on me. Alternatively, I fire a few shots when I'm caught by surprise and then retreat to a fence when I see them running at me with no weapons in hand.

I don't think we run too fast. It reminds me of how fast I was. I could go faster than my character in-game.

Cowboy boots or hard sole shoes don't really get that great of traction.

Single player: Waaaaaah. We're too slow.

Online multiplayer: Waaaaaah. We're too fast.

Guessing I'm not the only one complaining about running speed. Regardless, I don't see how this can be considered balanced when I have an easier time sniping someone off horseback than a player who's running in the 90's.

I don't have a problem with it, I just don't get why they made that design choice.

Well figure I just need more practice. Gonna spend my whole day off killing players. Wish me luck!

if u fortify your stamina you should win most struggles, against lassos you're screwed though. you need to watch out not to get in places where people can close in on you without exposing themselves, and always have a shotgun.

free aimer also btw, f*ck the autoaim subhuman trash

If I could I'd like your post 100 more times. Amen brother!

Against lassos I found it better to just open my side menu and click respawn. You also get an option to die near the end of being hogtied but the respawn feature is faster.

Full sprint is when you repeatedly tap that button, jogging (yogging?) is when you just hold that button.
