Ciao a tutti GTAFrutti!

GTAV and IV have one so why not this one?

To me it's actually amazing how a top-down game from 1999 can still be a lot of fun in 2019, sometimes even more fun than all games since gta3. What appeals to me the most about the game is the sci-fi vibe, the fact you can kill peds and destroy cars to gain score aka money and probably the respect system which lets you choose any gang you want at any time. And they nailed the atmosphere in general. The cheats and the debug menu are also awesome. The game is easier to mod than 3, VC, SA, IV & V despite few crashes here and there, or at least the mods are easier to install.

So what do you think?

For the nostalgia I guess a revamp.  But I always wondered what it would be like in 3D.  I mean, the game was technically 3D, just a top-down view is all.  I'd be curious how it would play out these days.

It's been a number of years since I played GTA II. I had the GTA Collection on PS1 with GTA 1, GTA II and London 69, but purely recalling just on memory it was an awesome game for its time. Massive improvement over the original and I really enjoyed the retro futuristic aesthetic. It also still has one of the most iconic intro themes of any GTA.

But I'd probably struggle to enjoy it now given how far the series has come since 1997-99. So awesome for its time, but have moved on.

I hate it because the top down camera angle always made me sick with the constant zooming in and out

Simply awesome. I still own the game for the original PS1, and while it is certainly a product of its time, it's still a pretty good game. I love how arcadey the game feels, and the true open world nature of the game. I love its simple humor as well, before GTA delved into pure satire, you had a button to fart and burp as well as unique pedestrians such as a thief who will always come after you, lines of Elvis impersonators, etc. Just an awesome game.

I think you're referring to GTA 1 about the zooming. That's not a big issue in GTA 2.

It was awesome and good for its time, but now it's time to move on.

I have played it before, but never finished it. Coming back to it in 2019, it's gonna take a lot of getting used to for me because I've been playing the newer games.

game is good enough for some fun (free roaming is pretty good here, can be good fun if you know what to do) and the missions are good too but it's still a relic of it's time.

i'd give this game a 8/10 at the very least

Still one of my favorites. There has never been another game like this in the series. Everything about it is unique. I listen to the radio stations pretty frequently too.

Best and most original game in the series. Like said above everything about it is unique. Rockstar really captured a great steampunk retro-futuristic dystopia feel that has yet to be revisited in the series.

I think this concept is the only one in the entire GTA saga. Futuristic stuff with great in house radio entertainment.

Fun af to play. I remember discovering the molotov glitch by myself accidentally and replicating it. It was probably the only glitch i ever discovered and replicated myself.

Spent so many hours playing it

At most an 8/10 it was a great game and i wish it was the only one made for the 2D universe as the previous one give this one a bad name. I would love to see some new small time releases of 2D GTAs

Call me crazy, but I'd love a sequel for GTA 2 in 3D. Imagine having all the retro-futuristic stuff in 3D !

I loved this game very much, but only played for a few hours, then my parents banned the game for me, because I was getting violent towards people around. :D What do you want, if you let 8yr old kid play game where you collect people on bus stops to sell the bus full of them to make hot dogs out of them. Really crazy game tho.

For a game in released in October 1999, it's fun to play. The game doesn't look badly aged, most people in my country they into GTA series from GTA 2.

I only played a few hours of it like 15 years ago and while it was fun back then there wasn't really anything to keep me engaged and I don't like the top down camera angle
