  1. 1. How would you rate GTA IV now?

    • Between 8 to 10 (I love GTA IV and voting here proves I'm not a child with taste for fine video games)
    • Between 5 to 7 (Good game, but not really a fan)
    • Between 3 to 4 (Don't like it and I have no taste)
    • Between 0 to 2 (I'm a troll and should stick to playing crappy video games instead)

Absolutely 10/10, and there's very few works of art that deserve that perfect note, in my not so humble opinion.

Actually, I'd say it's the second best work of all time across all different mediums (including films, books, paintings, etc), only behind 2010's Red Dead Redemption. Hands down, it's the pinaccle of an already brillant track-record from Rockstar.

A 10/10. It is a masterpiece and was way ahead of its time in every aspect. It is definitely deserving the 98 overall metacritic score and it is a testament to what an achievement that was because it is yet to be beaten after all those years. I love Liberty City, I love Niko Bellic and I love the story of this game.

It's 2nd best game in the series for me if we don't count Online (from gameplay only), first in terms of story. I will rate it an 8.7/10? 8/10 or even 9/10.

I keep going back to replay it randomly (choosing specific missions) and don't really get bored of it. (I do not do this with any other GTA unless it's for The Chain Game)

I love its driving and atmosphere. With fusionfix and few other ones it's like a remaster so I can't wait to replay it again properly from start to finish when I find time.

The graphics also aged really well. It was really impressive then and still is today. Just the character models only could be a bit off here and there.

The only stuff that might not be as good today is some of the mission design for me, and without fixes the aiming/bugs and such on PC but these are small stuff.

I'm on my second playthrough of it. I'd go with a 9 overall. It has so much going in its favour: a great story, a whole bunch of fun characters, I've actually come to like the driving / flying, the combat's good, the subquests, girlfriends, strangers, etc. add to the variety...the only downside for me is that some missions are on the hard side (although that's by my standards; I'm not generally very skilled at games).

Easy 10. The game has even aged nicely, more so than the 3D era games.

its an HD game brother.

GTA V will Age will, RDR 1 and 2 will age well.

there needs to be something really f*cked up with your game for it to age worse than a PS2 game.

anyhow, its seriously overrated at launch by critics, and insanely overrated by people now, like its a great title and all, but compared to GTA SA

(Somehow 4 have even more under baked mechanics than SA) or like Saints row 2, it pales in everything aside from production values and maybe Liberty city, its a great setting, but you could  say that about the last five Rockstar games, so it isn't unique to 4.

its still the GOAT though, but I'm a realist so I gotta keep it real you know, will never forgive myself if I cant do that.

GTA IV is a hallmark in the video game history and I will never forget the first time running around Hove Beach in Broker being in awe seeing a GTA game in HD for the very first time with the groundbreaking NaturalMotion's Euphoria ragdoll stuff combined with the R.A.G.E. engine. It was something I never experienced in a video game before and it still puts a smile on my face whenever I remember these special moments. It was groundbreaking and there has also never been a city in a video game as great and lifelike as Liberty City. You can prove me otherwise but I genuinely believe that Liberty City is still the most lifed-in fictional city across any video game to date! There's no denying that this game is fully deserving the 98 overall metascore. To this day it holds up incredibly well and is just so damn enjoyable to play because the physics are so fun to mess around with and I f*cking love the setting because it isn't just wide-ass freeways or huge junks of mountains with nothing to do up there. It might be an unpopular opinion but I don't give a f*ck about there being absolutely no countryside whatsoever and that it's 'just' a city, nah, in fact I truly believe that this is one of the games' greatest strengths in hindsight.

Its overrated. With GTA VI coming out in 2025. I think more and more people are going to see GTA IV the way we see GTA III. A good game that help setup a foundation but aged poorly.

Don't get me wrong, there are positives to this game.

- Story
- Characters
- City layout

But there are cons as well.

- Mission design
- Dull and poor colors
- Cars are horrible to drive
- Not much going on outside the story
- Poor customization
- Lack of things to spend money on

When it comes to the HD era open world games. GTA IV/RDR/GTA V/RDR 2.

Each game improved in some areas over the other while barely regressing in others.

RDR 2 world design and story are way better than GTA IV. GTA V had better missions, great customization, more things to spend money on, better car handle (still not good but better). RDR 1 had an equal story, better world, equal characters, stuff to spend money on, stuff to do outside story.

Hey everyone Im totally new at this and played GTA when it came out but I didn’t get past GTA1&2 after I got married. Im not even sure if Im using this forum correctly so please correct me if Im doing this wrong. I just bought a new xbox and want to get caught up on what’s going on. Im also curious about what version has been best  so far?  GTA 1-4 ? Thanks for any help and again, please forgive me if I shouldn’t be posting here.

Still a 10/10 In my opinion, it's a near perfect game for me And even though I played the ps2 gtas growing up, gta iv is the one that properly introduced me to the series. I have no doubt gta vi will blow it out of the water in every way possible but, despite that, there's just something about iv that will always hit different for me, its my ultimate comfort game that i can always go back to no matter how long its been. the story, setting, characters, details, world building, the whole diamond arc that crosses over all three protagonists, the gunplay, melee and yes even the driving still feel good to this day and arguably sometimes feel better than V.

You can purchase GTA IV and its DLC's on the Microsoft store and they run amazingly on the new Xbox. Better than they ever did originally. GTA V can be purchased as well on the store, it runs great and is updated to take advantage of the new Xbox

7/10

I have been quite amused to see, through the years, what was arguably considered as the most divisive GTA ever released gradually turn into an object of almost fanatical adoration by fans. It's as if the game's numerous shortcomings have been somehow forgotten along the way...

The truth is, I see GTA IV as an experimental opus, with the pros and cons that come with this status. Its main strength is to take place in what is perhaps the most immersive urban open-world ever designed. It also vastly expands the GTA lore and provides a compelling, if overblown, satire of the American Dream.

However, aside from this and a fantastic introduction, what you get is an average GTA, with an overrated story, a bland mission structure, atrocious driving physics, and few interesting side activities.

I've completed the game several times since 2008, but I don't necessarily feel the need to get back to it.
