  1. 1. How would you rate GTA IV now?

    • Between 8 to 10 (I love GTA IV and voting here proves I'm not a child with taste for fine video games)
    • Between 5 to 7 (Good game, but not really a fan)
    • Between 3 to 4 (Don't like it and I have no taste)
    • Between 0 to 2 (I'm a troll and should stick to playing crappy video games instead)

That’s one of the things I love about it. It’s possible to die from NPCs ganging up and it’s oh so sweet when you kick their arses and escape with a slither of health left.😀

The best part is you can't even bail out by running away that easily since they'll run after you fast and relentlessly, even following you into your safehouse.

I remember once a cop chasing me into the Broker safe house and he shot me to death so Niko’s body fell back onto the bed.😛

That was an important thing GTA IV introduced to the series. Next to no loading times in interiors allowing things like this to happen making the game feel more organic and realistic. You couldn’t just retreat back to your safe house like previous GTA games until it was actually “safe”.

There's a couple where you can (Middle Park East and Playboy's penthouse - just because of the apartment being an elevator ride away I guess) but yeah I like that there's safehouses you can enter with no loading and continue the action. I always seem to end up with trouble in the Bohan safehouse, I remember having a good fight with a Spanish Lord who chased me in there and said "If I knock your teeth out will you give me a blow job" lol and I've had a lot of shootouts with police from behind the kitchen counter. Definitely makes the city feel more real when you can go in and out of buildings naturally like that.

That's something that never fails to shock me about GTA IV, these guys can run! (faster than Niko can which is weird, but they can run!)

I think when Niko's at full speed he can run slightly faster than NPC's/cops (so it's possible to get away) but he gets tired and has to run slower after a while and they don't. So it balances out nicely.

for most people yeah, but there's definitely some people who uses CJ's running animation and look like the flash compared to Niko. (they're usually black or are janitors)

I remember one time that a Cop stole my car. I was trying to lose the cops and I saw one of them chasing me with my car (Which was a Blue Banshee car).

Okay so bit of a story time.

A few days ago I got home from Denmark where I worked for almost two months. With me I brought a PS3 which I bought to lose some time when I'm not working. It had a really good price for what it was offering. 2 controllers, 8 games. 1 of those 8 games was GTA IV. After a long, long time I was about to play it back on console again. Since the PC release I only played it on that.

I booted the game and first thing I noticed is the lower fps. It bothered me for about 10 minutes and I never see it now. However the second thing I noticed is that I was enthralled by the game. It's been a year or two since I last played it, but holy heck was I enjoying the game. It literally reminded me of what R* was capable of doing. I love Niko, I love the characters, I love the boat physics driving and I love Liberty City.

The game doesn't have a lot of features, but I still like driving around the LC listening to The Journey and having a good time. Back then and now and probably in the future I will rate this game 10/10. No regrets

10/10, best GTA game of all time with the most compelling story and characters (almost every character is memorable and interesting) and the best open world. I don't think there will ever be a better GTA game

Its one of my favourite games in general (at least Top 5) and I have replayed it every few years since 2008.

10/10, stunning, catchy, it will make you feel Niko´s hard life as it was yours, endings that make you feel like good people not always have a good destiny, best AI I have ever seen until RDR2, immersive atmosphere, everything great, I would give it a 12/10 if I could, my favourite GTA by far and I doubt that other GTA will make me feel as I did with GTA IV

A 10 from me too (fifth consecutive one hehe). Not that I feel it is perfect, and I'll never get too comfortable with the driving in this game, but it is an unparalleled experience, I'm in love with near everything in this game, from the story and characters, to the shooting and ragdoll, from the majestic Algonquin to the grimy Bohan (  I changed my mind bout Alderney too I like it a lot more than before) to the grand LC skyline and the humble hot dog sellers in the streets. Everything is just one incredible package.

IV is maybe my fourth favourite GTA but I think I romanticize Vice City and San Andreas somewhat cause I played them a lot more when younger, I think there is a legit chance IV could have been my favourite GTA otherwise. But I wont tire of poking fun at IV over here i think :p

I'm doing the Gravelli missions in my current IV playthrough and i keep getting calls about the wedding, so I know the game is gonna end soon and it feels kind of weird tbh, IV has a long story but I dont want it to end just yet dammit, I guess that is what EFLC is there for.

Recently I've played so many games I've never played before, and let me tell you. There are many great games, but Grand Theft Auto IV?

Dude, there is nothing like Grand Theft Auto IV. This game is and forever will be 10/10 for me.

9/10. It’s my favourite GTA.

Just needed a bit more things to do, more customisation etc. Its positives far out its negatives so other than a few things here and there that I thought could’ve been better I adore everything else about it.

With EFLC it’s an easy 10 as I love how all three games compliment eachother in various ways.

There will never be a game like this again. It's a historical masterpiece. If the remastered Trilogy does well, I'm hoping to see Rockstar do this game justice and remaster it (they will most likely botch the job, of course).

The countless hours I have spent at the airport together with my cousin... I want to go back.

Then they had to ruin it all with GTA V, bringing over IV characters and killing them left and right, how distasteful.

I still play GTA IV regularly and IMO it still holds up where it doesn’t need to be remastered.

With the GTA trilogy I can understand particularly with GTA III and Vice City why R* would feel inclined to remaster them as much as it pains me to say as their base mechanics have been dated for years and they’d benefit from a facelift on more powerful systems.

GTA IV is an interesting case because while it’s an old game in a technical sense it doesn’t “feel” old. I always felt GTA IV was a bit ahead of its time and R* put way more focus on its core gameplay than superficial fluff. That’s why it still feels great to play after all these years. It was built to be robust.

A 8/10. The solidest 8/10 I've ever given to a game.

Everything about GTA IV is just so good. The writing, characters, narrative, map, driving, combat, physics, atmosphere etc, all of this makes for a amazing once-in-a-lifetime gaming experience that no other Open-World game (with the expectation of RDR 2) had ever replicated post-2008. You really need to play San Andreas before IV just so you can feel the technological leap from the Playstation 2 to the Playstation 3. I made the mistake of playing V before IV, so the technological leap from it felt much more dated, but that didn't stop IV for being technically revolutionary for its time.

Of course, IV is not a perfect game. There are my personal gripes with it alongside its weaker points; The lackluster customizations, the repetitive and tedious mission structure, the disappointing side content, the downgraded world interaction, the weaker writing of the Alderney chapter etc. But all of this didn't matter. All of this didn't stop it from being a exceptional experience that it is a MUST PLAY to anyone who's mildly interested in the Open-World genre.
