Well, there's this post in the LCS Mobile modding thread:

Damn that's just sad that Rockstar would even outsource to a company that would even do such a thing. Rip off fan-made assets is okay but modding gta 5 isn't. ...I haven't forgotten the 2017 fiasco with OpenIV.

GTA 3:

- Francis International Airport takes up WAY too much space in Shoreside Vale.

- Portland becoming a giant no-go area after the story

- No map in the main menu

GTA VC:

- Giant beach that isn't even proportioned properly to the rest of the map. Wasted space.

- The ending to VC is just a bit awkward. I know it was meant to pay homage to Scarface, but Lance and Sonny just die with no final words.

- The all female gang in that one mission. I don't mind them at all; it's just jarring getting into a gunfight with an all-women crime syndicate with no context or explanation, and they're not fleshed out either. Seriously, an all-women crime syndicate pushing drugs and rivaling the Vercetti gang is an interesting and original concept, but it's limited to one mission with no warning.

- The Cubans and Haitians are way too cartoonish, had they been toned down and not called as such, the infamous controversy wouldn't have happened. Ngl, it makes me curious how they'll appear in GTA 6 (the Haitians being rewritten to be more like the Zoe Pound will be dope as f*ck)

- Cherry Popper Ice Cream factory. Nuff said.

GTA SA:

- With such a huge story, the world building could've been fleshed out. Why are the Ballas and Families enemies to begin with? Why are the Mafia families involved in Venturas? Why was Area 69 constructed? Little things like that add so much lore.

- Not fixing the driving AI on the highway. It was funny as sh*t but also infuriating.

- No punk or cumbia stations. But I guess the game was getting too big.

GTA IV:

- The Elegy could've returned as a secret vehicle, damn it.

- Why are the subways so empty. NYC subways are NOT empty.

- The Hickey Bridge is small and kinda awkward, idk. Though I'm not from NJ, don't know if it's like that IRL.

GTA V:

- The entire design of the map. I hate it. Los Santos feels way too cramped and would've benefited from more spacing, especially since it's based on Los Angeles which is definitely not as dense as New York. The towns in GTA V aren't much better compared to SA. The countryside feels so barren. Rockstar really should've reconsidered the map design.

- Ocean floor

- 69 missions in a game featuring 3 protagonists

- Why was the injury system removed? Why are paramedics suddenly completely useless and lazy? "We did our best" no you didn't the ped DIED FROM A f*ckING PUNCH.

- Why is the car damage suddenly much worse?

- Why so many weapons? GTA 4's selection was fine. It's the GTA equivalent of bloatware.

- The radio selection. So much dad rock. Reggae station that isn't needed. Pop songs that are decades old. It feels like an attempt at a hodge-podge to satisfy everyone but fails.

- Essentially turning into Blizzard with GTA Online

I remember seeing a map comparing Vice City to real life Miami, and the beach was wider than the real life counterpart is!

In my opinion, this is actually one of the only few short comings of vanilla GTA IV. The weapons weren't bad, but some of the categories could have done with an extra weapon or two. The episodes did a good job in fixing this however, giving us a handful of new and unique enough guns without oversaturating the selection.

Some of the GTA 3/VC map decisions were just odd.

Shoreside Vale having the massive airport that took up 35% of the landmass + made it a bitch to navigate. I'm not the biggest fan of Pike Creek either though it does give the area a more Jersey vibe. I get that the airport needed to go somewhere and maybe it was more feasible in that location, but God damn it's big and practically useless due to the lack of aircraft.

North Staunton Island is kinda weird too. It feels like there should be more high rise residential areas but aren't.

Of course, there's Vice City's big ass beach. Perhaps due to the time constraints it was made so big to fill up space. But it really feels like "Mainland" Vice City should be much bigger. It always bothered me how disproportionate Vice Beach was compared to real life Miami.

Finally, it feels like airports in general are too f*cking big. GTA SA probably had the best sized ones and it made sense, the game had multiple cities. GTA IV's airport is fine even if restricted (there should've been a pilots license feature) - it's in a part of the map that's isolated and doesn't feel intrusive

GTA III, VC, and V's airports feel like they're taking up so much space and being intrusive.

Definitely agree got bored of the basic glock or deagle. I think every category should have 4 with throwables, pistols, and maybe heavy and shotguns be 5.

I think GTA V airport is fine. Really LS is just too small, should be 1.5x-2x larger.

- Waiting until Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to give us an indicator whether the target is above or below ye.

I can take not having a huge map you can check in-game, they want you to use the paper one (READING THE MANUAL REVEALS THIS), plus if ye don't know what yer doing after some whiles later, there's a high chance that your navigational and getting yer bearings -skills just suck, and possibly a high chance that you've always relied on technology which tells you exactly where to go at all times instead of using a paper map and a fricken compass to try to reach the "N" contact. Also, in other news, don't be one of those fools playing Mafia and following the compass needle into the river while playing the first mission though.

THIS HERE RAMPAGE:

KZUkG5o.png

It's sh*tey on PS2, but it's even more sh*tey here on PC. I try getting there on a boat. Sure, a slow ass boat. I get there, drive that slow ass boat off, back on land, vehicles never spawn. Two stars? Cops shoot them boats to shreds before even reaching that place. Helicopter? Cops get the position of it screwed up after I land to that one certain precise spot that allows me to take off afterwards so I can't take off. Running out of patience with this one. WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT IDEA TO PUT THAT OVER THERE OF ALL PLACES?! I DON'T GET IT.

Argh, f*ck it, next time I'll cram Sunshine Autos full of vehicles and then blow that sh*te up, it that doesn't help, then I'm officially quitting this crap and retiring somewhere. I'm getting tired of hearing Get A Life on loading the save, which leads Big Smoke saying the infamous OHHHHH and then to Surrender, and at that point everything is screwed up already.

I also struggled with this one a bit. Now I know what to do - collect the Sea Sparrow or Hunter from the Hidden Packages (I do them as the first thing ever). Use that to blow up boats that you encounter, but fly on the street. Ocean Beach should be fine and enough cars will spawn driving around there. The only problem might be potential Diaz or Haitian goons spawning around (idk why R* made them spawn in vehicular rampages. overall I don't like how the rampages give you a random gang and it has a tendency to lock it on the Cubans...)

Never thought of using the helicopter to shoot! I think I assumed you had to use the weapon they give you for it to count. I go and start it in any helicopter, then land on top of a building by a road in Vice Port (preferably one on a corner with cars driving towards it) and get out and blow up cars with the rocket launcher from up there. Sometimes have to turn around to get more cars to spawn but works pretty well.

In these rampages, any way to blow them up works. Even a Rhino works fine.

They're not dealing drugs, actually, they're a counterfeiting syndicate made up of... (character models-wise speaking) rich housewives. Tommy just ambushes their escort and takes the plates from their courier.

As for my take:

Why VC doesn't feature any actual business dealing like in Scarface: The World is Yours? The latter game has an incredibly fleshed-out business system where you do favors for your contacts so they help set up deals with suppliers in exchange and then you distribute the bought goods on the streets through your assets. Also, VC should've had some offshore islands (or maybe the Everglades as R* once intended) where Tommy could go to look for/meet the suppliers.

Because Vice City was developed quickly while the idea of San Andreas was in preproduction. Very unfleshed overall.

Controversial opinion: VC's story carries the game.

They did it with VCS. VC just came out way too early for Rockstar to add something like that that in the game.

Yeah, but the empire system in VCS is more leaned towards SA's gang wars mechanic. I've heard that once you own a couple of assets, you have to defend them like every five minutes and sometimes the attacked asset is located all the way on the other side of the map.

It's not owning, more like after you've gained a few properties by attacking rivals. Then it goes all bloody hell on you. Until you load your save again. Then, after attacking, bloody hell to you. Until you load. Rinse and repeat. When having all properties, peace be with ye again.

Personally, I enjoyed the empire building side-mission in Vice City Stories very much back in the day, more so than the gang warfare of San Andreas. A more advanced, fleshed out and overall refined version of it in a newer title will most likely be very appreciated by many players.
