GTA III corrupt audio files in Audio CD

Recommended Posts

Recently I discovered that a few of the .mp3 audio files in my GTA III's audio disc are corrupted. These cause glitches in a couple of cutscenes. While not a huge game-breaking bug, I still don't like it, so I was wondering if there is any way to get the non-corrupted files from anywhere. Any ideas?

All the Donald Love mission which are tagged with "d1_..." and one for Asuki.

I think it should be possible to use the audio files from Steam version to fix the issue. I can simply do that.

But, i'm interested to know if the issue is actually from the releases themselves. If you have an original disc from back in the day, you can maybe check this file: "d5_es.mp3" to see if yours is corrupted too.

Sorry, Im late 🙃
Its a known problem. This files seems to be corrupted since release in 2002. Nobody was noticed this all of these years, strange deal. I really dont remember how was it, Ive played GTA3 very long back in days.
Two ways to fix it, one is to convert this files from ps2 or xbox versions, another - to use vbdec.

UPD. I put some investigation and I found that the problem is in corrupted iso image from very famous website under the black flag 😆

Well now this is the only way you can stlil get and play the PC versoin of GTA3 that I know of. R* no longer sells it and the discs' SecuROM doesn't work on Windows 10/11 anymore. Does that effectively make it abandonware?

You can still get the original trilogy from the Rockstar Store and once you buy them you'll see them in your Rockstar Launcher library. You can downgrade and mod them just fine. The only downside is that the trilogy costs 30 bucks and never goes on sale afaik.

Yep, the only way if you doesnt own original cd copy.
But, except this iso downloaded from TPB you can find it on internet arhive, its not corrupted. Or you can find russian initial release, its 100% the same as original NA, rus loc had been providing separately as patch.

DT can help you. It needs just emulate virtual rom for "play cd", no additional secure tools was used.
