I don't think there's any way to know that so it's all guesswork. They might have lots of things planned but just not in the game yet. Or they might have things ready to update us with. Or they might not have anything at all. So whatever anyone says here, it's just a guess.

Pretty much what my fear is of where this game is going--Rockstar listens to what they want to--the rest, regardless of whether most players want it or not, gets the infamous R* middle finger.

 

GTA Online's slow start was/is only a small fraction of its ongoing problems--the like of which we can arguably expect in RDO, especially with R*'s crapittude of late in regards to lack of real updates, no mention whatsoever of free aim or private sessions, etc.

 

Numerous player requests for simple, logical fixes and content (e.g. weapon wheel defaults in GTA Online) have been completely ignored by Rockstar in the past, and I expect that to continue with RDO.

I would guess there's a plan, but we always here the rumours of high tensions within Rockstar.  Once the game released I assume there'll be alot of 'burnout' in the team.  Online BETA is a good means of keeping people interested long past the story mode I guess.  And until it goes official, people will grind away at the BETA, in turn buying Rockstar some more time to put whatever plans they have, into motion.

 

Again, could be totally wrong, it's simply my opinion and how I foresee things playing out behind closed doors.

Agree apart from this bit... GTA Online's start was a paradise compared to this. It had triple the number of story missions to start with, not to mention mini games like golf, tennis, darts, arm wrestling.

In the first 2-3 months of GTA Online being released, we already had the Beach Bum update with new clothes and cars, and the Creator mode. Just the creator mode alone would change RDO completely, you would be able to join or create all sorts of custom made jobs and prevent getting bored. But as it stands, you wouldn't be able to create, for example, a Team Shootout, as there are no options to select which lobby you join, just showdown series.

 

That last newswire was pretty depressing, to know that all we will have extra in "months" time is player blips and daily challenges.

 

This company need to start spending their billions upon billions that they have taken from us, and use it to hire more devs, because clearly there are not enough people working on RDO. The gulf in quality between Story Mode and Online is absolutely crazy when you think about how much money they have made from GTA5 and RDR2. And they have had 5 years experience with GTA Online, not to mention all their other online ventures... RDR1, GTA4... there should be no excuse for this poor management of the game, especially when they have seen fit to add Gold Bar microtransactions to this "BETA"

^^ Truth. Financially speaking, it's easy to assume that RDO was/is intended to be another cash cow.

 

But using the same "minimal effort for maximum profit" is NOT going to work this time.

 

That I/we can all agree on and pretty much guarantee. Too many players who've been there, and didn't like what they see.

 

Rockstar and Take Two have to put as much personnel, resources, and out-of-the-box effort into RDO as they did in RDR2, or it will float as well as the Titanic did.

Of course they do. They're a company. They like money. It'll come at some point. Whether it's any good, now that's the million dollar question.

I think once they release that first big update the ball will start rolling and it will be consistent from there. I think if we can hold out a couple months we will happy we stuck with it. Still frustrating as hell though.

I feel like 99% of the game, works. Things like animations, positioning, graphics, interaction, button mapping, combat, clipping, multiplayer server, the map, artificial intelligence, sounds, music, weapon wheel, damage, lobby screens. The list goes on. What does work, will always outweigh what doesn't. The main menu screen works too.

I always have the feeling that RDR2 online is the poor relation of gtao. Which is a shame, since there's limitless potential in RDR2. 

 

To the defense of R*, hiring the double amount of devs doesn't mean the development goes twice as fast. The design problems are on a higher level. R* repeated the same issues with gta. 

 

In both gta and rdr2 the inventory system is busted. The character creation creates meth heads. And the game design is geared towards mtx.

GTA racing vs RDO horseracing....its goliath vs david

 

missing cars /planes etc is a reason too, because you cant blame the game, that cars/planes are missing, but there should be other things to compensate it

 

 

RDO is such a big disappointment, I cant realy describe...I dont think we will get REALLY new content the next 6 months.

and I dont mean a new gun, a new shirt, or a "new" map in a PVP mode. I mean gamechanging mechanics like heists, businesses, and way more free roam activities

^no worries mate, no matter what else will be broken in the process of it, R* will implement sheds (100 gold bars, cheapest one without any extra decoration) and this will kick off all that business stuff
