Things from RDR not included in RDR2 you miss?

Recommended Posts

Vik2390

Tumbleweed don't rolling across Cholla Springs in the RDR2. Herb, not a town. They forgot to add it, but they add sandstorms.

- Mexico

- Mac Farlene's ranch... The one in RDR2 looks so empty and dull.

- Armadillo

- Thieves landing saloon and town

Mexico of course, gunplay, pre game fist fighting lobby where we all fought each other, Armadillo and McFarlane ranch from RDR 1 timeline. I wish they just move online timeline to 1911 so we can have normal towns in New Austin. I miss RDR gang matches like Hold your own and Grab the bag, i miss Mexican Standoff at the start of every gang match, Liar's Dice.

I miss everything.

Biggest gameplay disappointment was the lack of duels for me. And when I finally was called out for a duel the other guy dropped down from being drunk.

The multiplayer

For whatever reason RDO just simply hasn't clicked with me. I tried it a couple of times and I was like....."meh". Red Dead Redemption had a fantastic multiplayer (like GTA IV) where it was simple in design, but it worked very effectively. It was fun playing for hours and hours on end.

But I'm not a fan of the GTAO style model of multiplayer.

That's because you have to work your way playing crappy missions for hours and hours to get small amount of money and keep playing and playing if you want to achieve things.

For us adults, this method reminds us of something we know first hand called real life. And when you finish working and head home exhausted, what you don't want to do is work in a videogame no thanks.

I really was expecting a side quest with the Strange Man and Arthur. Ever since 2011 when i bought RDR1, I assumed we would see him again. The cabin and Armadillo aren't good enough.

1. Being able to remove a weapon from your inventory
2.

Spoiler

A part of Arthur's story in New Austin. Really missed the true western vibe

The multiplayer

Blackwater's original clock tower

Wreck of the Serendipity

MacFarlane's barn

They're there but they utter crap. If you played RDR 1 gang matches, you're gonna dislike it from the start.

Oh!

One thing that drove me crazy was that hammers were up during cutscenes. Look at any cutscene in RDR1, and the revolvers are actually cocked.

So annoying to see Arthur taking Miliken hostage with a gun that won't shoot, or John and Dutch having their hammers up in a standoff. The whole time I was thinking these guys are using uncocked guns.

Look at the guy furthest to the left. His hammer is down.

Everyone's hammer is up, as with every cutscene.

I miss the interiors that were open in RDR1; Armadillo, Fort Mercer, Thieves Landing, the Tumbleweed mansion, Ridgewood Farm, and Rathskeller Fork.

There is no reason to go to Rathskeller Fork in RDR2, so it may as well not exist. I don't understand the decision to make Armadillo an empty town. I feel like there is some cut content there. It would have been great to have some missions to deliver a cure, save a doctor, etc. that would then allow the town to begin to thrive again later in the epilogue.

And how does Thieves Landing go from a dilapidated gang hideout to a bustling town between 1907 and 1911? It's completely lawless in RDR1, so who built the place up? Surely not the Lobos.

New Austin is so empty I almost wish they had left it out of the game and just made the Lower Montana River a flooded torrent that we couldn't cross.

I miss the RDR1 multiplayer. The open world of RDR2 free roam is fine as far as it goes, and the story missions a fun, but the showdown series is no match for the PvP in RDR1.

I miss the standoffs at the start of each match. They call it "Showdown" series, but there are no showdowns.

I miss grab the bag and hold your own.

I miss the simplicity of a 2 team PvP match. Why does every team match have to have 4+ teams?

I miss being able to keep a weapon I picked up for the remainder of the match.

I miss the narrator.

I miss my posse being kept together on the same team in PvP.

I miss the tomahawk shootout at Repentance Rock.

RDR1 multiplayer was a much more enjoyable experience than RDO has been so far.

And you could also choose to be important characters from the game like landon rickets and abigail

So I was looking into this, and noticed during the Mocap, the actors actually kept their thumbs on where the hammers should be. I think Rockstar just forgot to cock it.

And nothing about the buildings in thieve's landing from RDR1 suggested they'd mostly been built within the last 7 years....

I like liar's dice as much as the next person but I don't get where this hate for finger filet is coming from. It's not exactly that great activity to me but it seems like people are just bagging on it because liar's dice isn't in it. Shouldn't everyone be talking about how dominos is boring, random, and I still have no idea how it's played?

Honestly there's only a few things for me.

1. Not having star ranked animals, way too tedious to find a 3 star

2. Being able to change and fast travel at a personal camp

3. Infinite Bounty's

4. Wayyy more relaxed wanted system, Bandana actually meant something

5. Being able to rob bank safes

I also miss the mission complete jingles from RDR1. Rockstar has kind of slacked on those since gta v with them being the same sound for every character and I don't remember if rdr2 has any. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I feel like all animals should have 3 star pelts and they'll only degrade if you use the wrong weapon or don't make clean shots. It's kind of arbitrary to just have some with 1 or 2 stars without doing anything to them because like what's the point if I'm trying to get a 3 star?

There's really only two things I miss. Playing horseshoes and the Mexican poncho outfit. However, it's a fair trade in getting everything that RDR2 gives us. We have so much now that I could have only dreamed of in RDR.

While I can understand your point of view, I personally love it. Having to find a perfect pelt makes the hunting so much better. Instead of it being handed to you, you really have to search, and when you do find the perfect pelt, you have to be on your game and use the right weapon. It just feels so much more rewarding to me. To be fair, I'm not one to rush around looking for things. I'm never in a hurry to complete anything. I can creep through the forest for hours and I'm perfectly happy.
