Outdated mods - config files? Also need clouds for Redux

Recommended Posts

MonarchX

I was trying to have Visual V and Natural Vision Remastered installed, but Natural Vision was out of date for the latest GTA V patch. They say some config file can fix that. Where do I get that? I have OpenIV and modded other games before, but I'm still relatively new to GTA V modding.

I ended up settling for GTA V Redux. I know people say that Redux steals from other mods. I personally modded The Witcher 3 and built mods on top of existing mods, but released them only with original mod author permissions and always credited original mod authors in my mod notes. I don't know if Redux author is the same way, but I hope that Redux mod can be discussed here.

What I really disliked about Redux are the flat clouds, the overly dark blue sky and overly dark roads. I use ENB, but only for HQ MSAA. I also use ReShade, but only for enforcing monitor calibration 3DLUT (LUT.fx).

My main questions are:

- Can a separate clouds mod be installed for Redux? Any advice? I like volumetric-looking ones, not flat ugly ones...

- Why can't the game load Redux mod and procedural sahdows ASI files from Visual V?

- How to get Natural Vision Remastered to work with the latest GTA V patch?

- Any suggestions on what else to edit\mod on top of Redux alone or Visual V + Natural Vision  Remastered combo to get new awesome GTA V experience for main story gameplay? There too many mods out there to try...

There doesn't seem to be any comments on the mod page for NVR on 5Mods about it not working with the latest patch https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/naturalvision-photorealistic-gtav#comments_tab

Is it specific files that are not compatible? I'm sure I had it installed in 1604, I just removed it because it looked so bad. If you're using a mods folder (which you shoud be doing), try installing it, if anything goes wrong, just recreate your mods folder. It won't affect any of the main game files using a mods folder, so at worst, you lose half an hour installing and testing. If you already have a mods folder, rename that to "mods_old", create a new one and try installing it into there.

If I remember correctly, he took parts from a whole range of mods, got no permission, gave no credit, didn't even acknowledge that the files were from other people's mods and simply said "Look at this great mod I have made". The biggest problem, is that a lot of the modders he stole from, are users on here, so you may very well struggle to get any help with that mod.

It looked so bad..? Anyway, I do use Mods folder and the latest version wasn't compatible with the latest patch. I got errors upon startup. This is from the comments section, but the provided links for CONFIG files are not working (only some generic modding page loads):

@TheGhizzi always install mods like this on a mods folder, if you install it on the game files you'll have to reinstall the whole game again, if you the pirated version you can just use that (But I don't recommend using the pirated version because some mods might not work) to prevent the crash from happening, create a mods folder and copy & paste the update and x64 folder (also copy&paste all the rpf files from common to x64w) it will take some time to copy it on the mods folder (Depends on how fast your PC is) after that install NVR (or any Visual/Graphics Mods through OIV or manually) after doing that replace your game config (Recommended Gameconfig https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/gta-5-gameconfig-300-cars)after replacing the game config install (https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/heap-limit-adjuster-600-mb-of-heap) after that launch your game and enjoy! (PS: If those doesn't work you can try the help/support forum https://forums.gta5-mods.com/category/10/installation-help-troubleshooting)

Well, there's one thing in there that is definitely wrong, you absolutely do not need to copy your whole x64 folder and all those other rpf files into your mods folder, that's for sure. That's just utter madness, it will use 65GB of hard drive space for no reason whatsoever.

The gameconfig is this one https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/gta-5-gameconfig-300-cars

They broke the link by including the ) on the end of it, same with the heap limit adjuster https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/heap-limit-adjuster-600-mb-of-heap

Try the x1 vehicles and x1 peds version of the gameconfig to start with, if you get things running stable, then you can try the higher density versions if that's what you're after.

Just installed NVR into my 1604, works fine and the only rpf files it needed, are x64e.rpf and common.rpf and they get copied in by the OIV installer... sorry, I lied, it has copied some in the dlcpacks folder as well, 3 to be precise, plus the 4 it creates.
