Ebocharanga
I have read a few topics but not many about a pelt or skin stuck to a horse. I am having that issue, I was collecting the alligator skin but not from a regular sized one but the littler ones and because it is small it doesn't need storing like a large one. Instead, you would put it on the back of the horse similar to like a wolf pelt or whatever. And, when I try to sell it (e.g. trapper, camp cook, and/or butcher) it does not show up as something to sell and I went through all of the tabs. Yet, it is still on my horse. I was told to use the upgraded horse station to get rid of it and did to call another horse and it did remove it, but it is still on my main horse now. I even went as far as to buy a new horse and then call my main one from the horse station but it still shows up on the horse if I take it to the stable and then leave it shows back up on the back of the horse. How the hell do I get this removed on my horse?
Ingrobny
I don't know how you can get rid of it, but if it was me, I would load a earlier save before I put the skin on my horse.

Wish I could, but I did like a whole chapter plus where I gold medal-ed every mission and that is hell to even consider. Plus, it feels a little crazy that I just can't get rid of the skin on the horse. I event went and saw to see if I can kill the horse and then leave my saddle there and the stable to recall it and it still loaded it on another horse. Then it's understandable that you don't want to go that far back on saving, have you tried to crash your horse into things, I have lost pelt a couple times on horse back when my horse stumbled and falled, if you are in lucky it might fall off the horse and disappear. It's one of those pelts, like the ones for wolves or smaller animals. Click here to view. Just now, Ebocharanga said: It's one of those pelts, like the ones for wolves or smaller animals. I know it isn't a big deal and all, but it's like oddly irritating that I can't take care of my horse and remove it. Goes a great deal to the game development because of how much I care for my horses. Ingrobny

I have lost pelts in this size couple times when my horse stumbled and falled, my 3 star wolf pelt disappeared for me on the horse not many days ago, but it still showed up in horse cargo, so I could still donate it to crafting in camp, the horse threw me off and the pelt was gone from the horseback, ride your horse in a three or down a steep small hill and maybe the pelt will disappear. Ebocharanga
I will try it out, still odd that this is a thing I need to try to just remove it off the horse, but I may just buy a cheap horse and see if that can work; don't like the idea of busting up my main horse like him too much. Cutter De Blanc
Have you tried dying? Dying gets rid of all your pelts Ingrobny
Ryancoke66
This may seem like a easy fix but Its possible it was overlooked. I had the same problem except I noticed I was hitching my horse too far away from the trapper. As soon as I brought the horse into his camp I was able to see it in the sell inventory. So strange, but thank you for suggesting and for everyone else's help. It was oddly driving me mad, thanks again. UncleRedDog
You were on the right track with the camp's horse station, but you need to remove the saddle first, walk a few paces away and drop it. Then call a second horse, saddle it, recall your main horse again and saddle that one. The skin will have gone. GL.
