I'm curious how people who said they clearly hate the game and don't play it anymore still post dozens of comments on this forum about RDO...

At this point it's just repitition of the same things over and over with some in the community.

We get it, the game isn't properly working in many ways.

Most people who complain about the game and keep posting here really want to love the game, but can't due to so many issues and disappointment. Yet, they still have some hope for it to get better. By posting about it on the forums, still playing the game or not, keeps them connected. Not playing the game currently, doesn't take away the right to post on the forums.

Personally, I think it's good to have the opportunity to do so.

I think the team behind red dead online should be fired or replaced

I'm not seeing any innovations at all, they are basically copying ideas from gta online.

Even in the article they refer to future roles as businesses, so we can already assume that whatever new roles come out, they'll just be more businesses to manage with a different coat of paint (and maybe a few novel features like moonshiner's story).

I think some are more addicted to the forum than they are the game. I rarely post anymore because I'm not playing the game like I used to. 10-15 minutes a day doing a few dailies just to keep the streak, then I log the fk off.

The B&M thread is the same sh!t over and over again by the same people. Oh the game doesn't work? Well no sh!t, but keep posting about it lol. It makes you wonder if RDO is the only fkn game some have installed.

I understand, I also want to love RDO and I get the frustation. I know there is so much potential that Rockstar doesnt seem to unlock more often than not. And I know more frustating is the fact that some of the already existing content isn't even working properly. I get that. I play the game, I enjoy it, I see the flaws. I'm pro voicing our concerncs as a dedicated community.

My criticism just was that some people on this forum comment on the same talking points over and over again like there is nothing else going on. I really enjoy this thread especially, because in my opinion it has the most meat to it (Tez2 comments and hints).

But it's exhausting that people feel the need to flood this thread with B&M over and over again. Especially those people, who claim to hate the game or have stopped playing it.

I would be a hypocrite to say that RDO is sh*t when I clearly already have played hundreds of hours since the beta and enjoyed my time.

There seems to be a disconnection sometimes with playing time and expectations. If you already experinced tens or hundreds of hours of enjoyment I don't see how you can say you hate the game with a straight face.

At some point every game will be bland if you put enough hours into it. I wouldn't only blame Rockstar (I'm aware of their flaws), but also peoples expectations of what RDO should be.

EDIT: Personally my playing time of RDO has dropped significantly since December as well, but there is no need to complain about animal spawns or moonshiner bugs every day or make a big deal out of it when we know the solution is to just reduce our playing time and wait on a fix that will come in the future.

It's probably a good thing that you are not the one to judge how other people spend their spare time, either online on social media or gaming.

I check in on the B&M thread to see if things have improved. If I see the same comments about how f*cked it still is, I don't bother loading RDO up. It saves me a couple hours of "what the f*ck? They STILL haven't fixed this?" frustration.

I guess you found it!

Edit: that polygon article definitely shows the cognitive dissonance with how R* thinks we are experiencing RDO.

I get where you're coming from and I partially agree with you. But, one can never judge what moves other people in their gameplay and how they should behave on forums or social media.

Some people play this game as a form of entertainment, some play it with a passion.

I don't think most people, who complain a lot in here, ask for much more than the game should offer them. If expectation is a consideration, then it's all to do with what Rockstar actually promised people to experience in this game. It's not weird if people expect a role to work as intended and get disappointed when it doesn't.

Not everyone experiences the same issues with this game or experiences them in the same amount as the other, or experience them in the same magnitude. Some people get disconnected every 10 minutes, some once a week. Some see enough wildlife, some barely and some none. Depending on your play style, the impact can be more severe than for others.

One can not deny that most of the current issues, if not all, started after Frontier Pursuit was launched. Most, if not all, of those issues still exist and haven't seen a fix yet. Along with that, there has been no acknowledgement from Rockstar since this week. Frustration builds up and every time someone experiences that same issue over and over again, without seeing a fix or a word from Rockstar, I can see how their (and my) frustration builds up gradually and at some point comes to an outing again.

And apparently, people find support from other players here on the forums, experiencing the same issues as they do, or from those who've found a workaround.

Personally, I am one who can complain a lot about this game too, admitted, and I am surely one who has little trust in Rockstar to fix this game properly and timely too.

Yet, despite my frustration, I do have at least the same amount of hope that this game will become playable as intended. I am not the only one in here. There are many with me and the forums give us a place to vent our frustration (because wives or husbands/partners don't understand), find some sort of unity in here and perhaps even bond in some way.

That's the power of a sounding board, a forum. It's a place to share joy and frustration for the game.

I do agree that it should be limited to the B&M thread, but the difference between certain threads has grown thin, probably due to the many issues and their frequency many experience.

There are many members refraining from posting or even visiting the forums lately. I think there are many of them left not because of the ongoing moaning, but more because they lost hope the game will see a fix soon, or not value the game enough to even make a point.

Those who still visit frequently are probably the ones who love the game most and have the most hope it will be sorted one day or another. Can you blame them? Can you blame me, as I am one of those? I don't think so. You can disagree and converse about it, which is what we do now. If anything, something I've been thinking about for the past few days, I'd love to post a lot more positive comments about this game, helping other players solving issues or share information to help a fellow player much more than bitching and moaning about the state RDO is in.

Like you, my gameplay has limited to a few doable dailies and then log off again, but I'd love to put more time in this game and actually enjoy it as much as I used to. Some people deal with it in silence, some vent and look for acknowledgement from other players. It's often, maybe too often, but not wrong or unexpected perse.

But yes, although being a part of the 'problem', I do agree it would be a lot nicer if the moaning would be less. It's mainly up to Rockstar to fix the game and as soon as they've done so, the moaning will certainly decrease.

This is an interesting update on SteamDB

https://steamdb.info/app/1174180/history/?changeid=7705752

Rockstar suddenly switched to qabeta3, this would mean we are close to getting the animal fix patch. Qabeta3 branch is used to separate the animal fix patch from the next update.

We might get the new patch this upcoming Tuesday.

Ding!

Right on the money.

Also, probably, those who still battle with the issues may likely have a higher frustration threshold, and that because some have fewer issues they hope that maybe 'this time it will work'.

A lot of the time you'll find someone has a solution or at least a work around for minor issues posted in the B&M, so it's a place to get help as well.

Do you think they will bundle anything else in the patch? some QoL stuff perhaps?

idk but pirates dlc seems cool..

pirates attacks on ports like van horn, annesburg.. thieves landing.. saint denis..

pirates stories are solid and gives a lot of potential.. probably even some online story missions in guarma..

hunt for treasures.. curses.. imagine walking in saint denis while the city is surrounded by green fog and like people are running and screaming and creepy creatures all over the place hunting people.. just because some posse somewhere opened a cursed tresure chest..

i'm not saying that i want superpowers in rdo, just a bit of mystery and drama and adventures.. rather than deliveries missions..

also the dlcs rockstar made are all pve which is not cool, there is always this npc to tell you what to do..

i would prefer a dlc based on pvp, like when a player kills a cursed animal in colter this can do some impacts in rhodes or something.. or like in death stranding, build something useful where other players in your lobby can use u know..

Hopefully it will fix a lot more along the way. Not just animals, but also camps. I can live with a later fix for a number of other issues, but really hope to see these 2 fixed real soon.

That would be nice, but personally I would like them to fix

<rant mode>

The weapon loadout!

I am getting pretty tired of suddenly rockin' the Schofield or Cattleman when they should be locked tight in the weapons locker.

Dual Navy's is my bloody thang'!

AAArgh!

one QoL addition I think the game needs, is the ability to split stacks of materials and ingredients. it sucks balls having to manually sell items one at a time. the only other option is to sell all, and that's not always the desired option.

I know it would be more a feature than a QoL improvement but being able to take your dog with you for hunting to collect small game or even help in combat like being able to have your dog run barking past enemies so they all turn and focus on it for a distraction.

I doubt it, QoL stuff happens with an actual update which is supposedly coming in March/April.

A bug like the lack of animal spawns isn't simple, too many variables that cause the issue. I'm sure they are fully focused on fixing the issue.

What’s your opinion on the possibilities of this game been made available for next gen?

I suggested this after the roles were first announced and that there would be a camp dog. they missed a lot of opportunities with the trader role. another feature that they dropped the ball on, was what to do with the natural by-product of the trader role, the meat surplus. there could have been a butcher/wholesaler aspect, where the player could trigger a delivery mission that involves doing meat deliveries, akin to what we have with goods, either to specific locations, or to one of the local town butchers.

from the moment the trader role came out, it seemed odd to me that nothing was done with the meat from the donations. they could at least have the meat available to the player at camp to cook with if not the wholesaler/butcher option.

Yea, alot of people suggested this as soon as the dog was announced. It's a missed opportunity.

Even if we could get a third of the meat back for our own use or to sell. I justify it by saying Cripps uses it for the stew...

Fair point, I didn't expect much. To be fair, I don't expect the patch to work but what can you do.

Not keen on supernatural stuff, it's not my thing, but the pirate idea I like.

Also gun and rum runners would be era and subject appropriate, leading to a huge map expansion to the south, adding Mexico (Queretaro?) and factions including Hispanic and Indigenous peoples.

Pirates sound like something that will only happen if Rockstar find their way around the technical limitations because there's nothing underwater. They can't have a boat sink with players on it, so they either make the boat indestructible or have it in some sort of defensive mode.

The idea sounds cool but I would rather have Rockstar focus on bank heists and the outlaw role for now.

i know that we can't go underwater, but there is guarma, those small islands in the map like the one near rhoades with the shipwreck .. ports and shores all can support a pirate dlc..

bank heists are cool if they based it on different approaches like they did in the casino heist in gta online.. actually that will be pretty cool..

and the whole thing with the pirate dlc is just i'm kinda tired with the steal supplies and deliveries missions.. i just hope whatever they bring in the next dlcs to be refreshing and to make players really interract with each other in free roam rather than just performing emotes on each other..

...................

idk something like fighting for territories in free roam "not a free roam event so there is no time limites"..

u just join the lobby, each member and each posse control a piece of land.. lets say a posse take over valentine, then the other players won't be able to enter or cross valentine for 10 min, the posse who controlled the town will be paid by the locals.. lets say 50$ for each 10 min.. if another posse or a player fight and won they will take over valentine fr the next 10 min.. and so it goes with each valuable territory in the map..

if a player just free roaming with no intention to controll any land then they won't earn any cash..

if posse controlled saint denis for like half hour they may get paid like 300$..

so that the free roam just feels alive you know..

anyway just my opinion..

I'm not a big pirate person, but I am all about anything else that can be added to the world that is legitimate and fun!

And I'd love to take my hound to go bear hunting! Or we could go after those rotten cougars that just seem to randomly appear in the midst of a mission and ruin it for me, as much as I love my coon hound Fern, I think if this were a possibility though, I would want myself a good old wolfhound.

I completely agree with what you said there. I haven't played the game as much because the bugs annoy me as f*ck as well.

I just like to read here about the next update speculation and sometimes it's just exhausting to see B&M here when it has its own thread and we all already know the problems.

I'm still thankful for the game, especially if I look at the hours I put into it.

Cheers

also the dlcs rockstar made are all pve which is not cool, there is always this npc to tell you what to do..

i would prefer a dlc based on pvp, like when a player kills a cursed animal in colter this can do some impacts in rhodes or something.. or like in death stranding, build something useful where other players in your lobby can use u know..

Umm, neither of those examples are PvP based... Killing a cursed animal in one part of the map that has an effect on a different part of the map is still PvE. Unleashing a curse that harms other players would be PvP. Meanwhile Death Stranding is a PvE game with 0 PvP in it. Building something useful that helps other players is PvE. Building something that hinders or kills other players is PvP.

A PvP based DLC would be more along the lines of GTA Online's Business/Arena Wars DLCs... I'd prefer it if Rockstar keeps the same balance of PvE and PvP instead of going full PvP for an update.

idk but pirates dlc seems cool..

pirates attacks on ports like van horn, annesburg.. thieves landing.. saint denis..

pirates stories are solid and gives a lot of potential.. probably even some online story missions in guarma..

hunt for treasures.. curses.. imagine walking in saint denis while the city is surrounded by green fog and like people are running and screaming and creepy creatures all over the place hunting people.. just because some posse somewhere opened a cursed tresure chest..

i'm not saying that i want superpowers in rdo, just a bit of mystery and drama and adventures.. rather than deliveries missions..

We already got super powers with the cards!

But talking about mystery a ad on to collector could be an archaeologist... Or something like Indiana Jones!

I like to use axes in the game and would like a lumber jack dlc!

And on other topics in the tread is that diving gear was starting to be commercial around the time that is set in the game!

Fun 2

The outlaw role will be the most entertaining role out of all if done right. I hope they offer us a dynamic experience where we could rob shops, NPCs and even players in free roam and at the same time we could plan out bank heists.

Not something like "Hey I'm Jeff, the new character, I always dreamed of robbing banks but I needed some people to help me with the setup missions, so do me a favor and help me with those missions and I'll have you rob every bank you want. Also you can't rob anything else without my permission so don't even think of robbing wagons unless I tell you to do so"

I'd relish the former.

Fun, do you reckon the next major update will bring only the Photographer role or do you another role or two being paired with it, a la Frontier Pursuits?
