Yeah, after looking into it more closely it's basically if a coin was there before, there will be a coin there now, but it will be a random coin rather than a specific one.

No....Times are different from adding 2 new events.  Yesterday Condor Egg happened for me at 3:52pm EST which was supposed to be trade route.

Good. You have my full support in that regard as well, dude is a relentless troll and does nothing but antagonize people in these threads for no reason. He reminds me of a regular "Karen" that I have to deal with at work that pretty much comes into my workplace for the SOLE purpose of having a bone to pick with someone. Among the staff we all know her to be a god awful person. Kind of reminds me of a few select people amongst ourselves here. 😂

Some real advice/news is that you can now actually get small valuables from the chests in the back of select NPC wagons.

Any idea of how long each batch will take once I unlock the perk that cuts down on production time?

 

I’m getting the message the high quality moonshine is the most profitable.

It takes 48 minutes for a high quality batch to brew IIRC, although you do spend $50 on the mash refill.

 

Personally I don't have the patience or time to run back to the moonshiners shack if the list of sellers resets soon, so I just flavor the moonshine with whatever I have on me and hope for the best, and do something else to kill time. You'll either end up making $94 - $194 depending on your luck with the flavouring, this is after forking out the $50 for the mash refill.

Moonshiner : order a batch -- listen to Marcel crap --- "pick your nose" for 48 Minutes --- listen to another Marcel crap --- drive 5 minutes --- get 225$ --- repeat

 

Collector : 3,5 hour session with using Jeanropke and going for Jewlery, Coins and Arrows only = 2.200$ + you see parts of Map you never had......

Not to belabor a discussion that had worn out it's welcome a couple pages ago...but I'm not too depressed about the Collector changes. Probably should have been randomized from the outset.  As long as a map can tell me "something will probably exist at that location, go check it out" I will deign to spend my precious online gaming time pursuing that role every once in a while. It's boring and repetitive with little real immersion, but it's a thing to do. The less soul-sucking and random it can be the better. Because none of us are getting younger and there are a lot of other games (or money-making tasks in RDO) out there.

 

Because when you get down to it, the online map is basically not much different then kids like me back in the 80s busting out our graph paper to map Kylearn's tower (good luck with that), or Deathtrap Dungeon (f-u Bloodbeast) or whatever. We'll use whatever means at our disposal to make a challenging aspect of a favorite game a little less menacing, time-consuming, more profitable, etc. It's all part of 'succeeding' at playing that game.

 

But this isn't the 80s anymore. Modern game companies are using every predatory means at their disposal to turn games in to services. More money for them for less work. Sound familiar? This usually means compromising the fairness of the 'game' or 'immersion' aspect to favour the 'grind' or 'spend all your time painstakingly doing this task for mediocre pay and rinse repeat until bored, rich or frustrated enough to buy our pay-2-win currency'.   Modern players are simply following suit, forgoing their own graph paper and HB pencils for the tools at hand: Online forums and sites with maps, codes, walkthru's etc.

 

It might still be sketchy to use an out-of-game tool to mitigate the 'grind' of an in-game activity. But that's on R* for how they designed the Collector role in the first place. Players were always going to have to note down where they found items if they had any hope of completing collections with anything resembling value-per-time-spent. But there is no in-game tool to mark 'hot spots' on the map short of 10 measly custom waypoints. So rather then 1 million players wasting time doing the exact same task of marking up graph paper, printed-out-maps, or what-have-you...presto change-o the 21st century solution presents itself: The online map. 

 

If the Online map were rendered completely useless, with fully random locations on no set schedule pattern....the Collector role itself would become useless and obsolete. Because exactly no one will wander around a map picking up stuff at random hoping that by doing this hours a day they may fill a collection a month or two down the road for $250. Not when Trader/Moonshiner/Bounty Hunter are right there.

 

It's on R* they made it grindy. It's on R* they made it non-random which invites 'mapping'. It's on R* they made the payouts what they are. Just as it's on R* they made Daily Streaks as effective as they are at accumulating gold.  R* have a track record of borderline incompetence or 'bad faith' in how they set up their in-game economies and the payouts for tasks vs risks / time spent. Short of exploits/cheats (and simply making a map to item locations is neither), it's never on the players for ruining in-game economies. It's on the company for not doing their due diligence, failing to understand player behavior, or just getting their payouts all wrong.

 

I don't begrudge them randomizing Collector a bit. But not to the point of obsolescence.  It's probably in a better spot overall now with this latest change.  A properly designed role would have had fully randomized locations, but would present you with gameplay missions that let you find specific items or categories, or the mission reward would be one of those Collector treasure maps.  Having players pay money for them was a ridiculous decision from the outset.

When collector was first released I just enjoyed running around the map looking at hidden locations for items. That was the most fun I had with the role. The map was nice to use but it just turned it into a chore. 

 

The role was obviously supposed to be random from the start.

about that "collector role nerf". I'm doing coins/arrows/jewelry today...so far I just get different items in the known locations but seemingly piece after piece is there. when you do a whole set/category, how can you not pick up every piece of the set in the end?! or do I get double items in 1 day?!? did I?

I just watched closely for the coins and even the lousy quarter popped up, near van horn where the draped busted coin usually was found, on a day1 cycle

Just out of interest, have you seen anything relating to upcoming drip-feed items? There are placeholder settings for new clothing options and the like, but nothing currently available that fits those descriptions, so it'll be interesting to see what else they've got coming...

Great News!

I also think they've done a great job in the implementation and integration in Free Roam.

 

Since Monday before the update dropped I haven't read this forum at all and I didn't even start the role yet, too much work.

Why do you guys think we’ll ever get an undead nightmare 2? I’m sure this is for a future meme mode, like that one they had last year where you play as a pagan demon beast of some sort, which was just a more nuanced rehash of Beast vs Slasher.
