RDO Next Updates Speculation & General Chat

Because imagine if the next update drops with a shiny new trailer, finally we can play the LAWMAN! Us veterans will be able to purchase it right away.

But what about new players?

Well first they need to acquire the bounty Hunter license for 15 gold and need to rank it up honorably to rank 5 or meet certain criteria.

Then they can buy the lawman badge for 25 gold.

But there is also this shiny outlaw pass 3 with limited exclusive rewards for 40 gold and this cool limited jacket for 8 gold. I might as well buy the 5$ special offer to get 25gold to get a head start, new players think.

Thats how monetization works. Whales aside.

And they build this foundation and will continue with it with future passes and roles, including the outlaw role. The key is to release certain big updates over a timeframe to attract new players. But make no mistakes, veterans are needed to advertise the game. Without vets games like GTAO and RDO would be dead. Every game  needs its core community to thrive, even Fortnite.

The 2 currencies work well for R* and how progression and currency are set up in RDO is a template for GTA6O.

You said rockstar will announce the RDO Update today and trailer on Tuesday .....

If you are looking for insiders there is basically only Yan2295 but he is not talking anymore.

Then there is Tez2 who is trustworthy but he doesn't have all the info.

Arthur, Hosea and Lenny could be one group with Micah, Javier and Bill in another. Dutch is dead so the O'Driscolls have no need to go looking for the gang and thus never meet Sadie and Jake. Sean and Trelawny already have an out of the gang so keep their heads down.

 

Seeing as I split the group into equal sides we could get a second Online story where Team Arthur and Team Micah are planning the same Heist/Heists and you can choose which side to help with different rewards depending on what side you joined. And just like that we have a nice segue into a story driven Heists Update.

I completely understand why they don't release it separately. I just thought due to the pandemic it would be a perfect time to bridge the gap between updates. You both make valid points though, thanks!

Yes he just informed us about a DLC depot now integrated in a qabeta update in steam database which could be a sign that we will get the next update sometimes this month.

That's not what he talked about.

He talked about a DLC depot now integrated and updated which wasn't the case before.

Looks like we are approaching the DLC release.

Since it seems like we are close, I was wondering if anyone wanted to participate:

3 Realistic predictions (except for OP3 because that is almost a guarantee)

1 wish (something realistic to RDO)

1 future wild prediction that won't come in this update

 

I'll start

 

Realistic

1. We get 3-4 new roles (I know it sounds a bit crazy but due to the big gap between updates I think it is possible)

2. I think we are going to get our own property to spawn in and somewhat customize

3. I think we will see significant improvements to the current roles.

 

Wish

1. I really want a fisherman role. The ability to buy boats, canoes, our own fisherman's hut. I think if they fleshed it out it would be cool.

 

Wild Prediction

1. I think they will treat the casino boat in Saint Dennis exactly they way they treated the casino in GTAO. The template is there and it is easy money. It will be a space everyone can go in and gamble without killing eachother, I also think we will be able to buy an apartment in the upper deck. It will be introduced with a gambler role.

 

This isn't part of the thing above but I have a question for the community, I am curious. What if the update consisted of 3-4 roles but they released 1 role every month to make the wait for future DLC's much better? They can advertise each role as a major update, there will be new drip feed every week. Plus this way instead of us only getting 2-3 updates a year, we could get a new "update" (role) 8-10 months of the year. BTW I think the legendary animals will be released weekly with this update (similar to legendary bounties).

This is a question for anyone who knows. Based on past GTAO updates (or moonshiner), what is the estimated time frame between this updating and an update being announced/released? Like a couple of days/weeks or more than a month?

I am actually very curious how they would make a lawman role different from the bounty hunter. I am excited for that role but very skeptical.

Despite the recent update to qabeta, I'm a bit skeptical of whether it's truly related to the next update. As Spider said, we have seen unusual updates at such unusual timing in the last couple of days. Heck, this whole thing could simply be a result of switching to alternative services to keep up the pace of the development process.

I guess it's best to just remain slightly optimistic and not hope for much.

There are also no new files, in terms of dlc, as there would be these extra files also if the previous updates are anything to go these files should be added for the dlc.

If anything happens, it'll be 2 roles to complete the Moonshine bump to the Bounty Hunter and Collector arc.  Anything more will be sat on for another post-Pandemic release.

I still have a sliver of speculation the bulk of Rockstar artists worked on a RDR Remake during 2018-2019. This is where I could understand a delay due to Mocap needs.  Mafia 1 Remake was a 2-year venture from what I understand and they did a full story and Mocap pass.  Both have the advantage of not needing to figure out the general gameplay loop, mission structures, or new tech base.

SteamDB only shows files from the public branch, the ones that exist in branches like qabeta and such aren't listed.

Fair enough, I stand corrected on that one.

I've just looked in the mp006 files though to confirm that obviously the dlc releases are numbered as such in the files (as I coudn't remember when I extracted all the game textures from them) and there may have been something cut from Moonshiners update or something I don't know about otherwise, there is some graffiti textures with all the Moonshiner files which reads "Can you find me, what a fine piece of a luck?"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think @Yan2295 confirmed that a RDR1 remaster wasn't happening.

Ouch, one can dream?  Take-2 said they want to shift to smaller timespan productions and leverage franchises, so Remakes are an easy way.

I dare anyone to give me a valid reason why we can't sell stuff in/have Solo Sessions. And no, "because that's how R* designed it" is not a valid reason.

That's the problem, they have no valid reason. They want us to play the game they want us to play, but that's not how it works when you offer players to create their own character and build their own world. 😑
