I'm sure someone will have a video of all of the masks up soon, but here are the ones I bought (don't hate me) to give you a flavour. 

 

 

 

 

 

The 'creature mask' is like a deer skull with various designs painted on it. Forgot to screenshot that one.

I tried to stay away from the bright colours at least lol. The pumpkin style one makes me wonder if these are time limited (partly why I got them). 

 

They are $150 each or I think 6 gold.

Lol ok. I don‘t need those and probably won‘t ever wear em, but I‘m going to buy them nevertheless. 
swine mask might be fun for a serial killer type outfit.

 

edit: seems like r* is delivering again. But only for those 13yo tryhard gta-kiddos. 

 

oh btw, please tell me that all showdowns remained free-aim. If they return to auto-aim I most likely won‘t play much showdown anymore..

I replaced the scarecrow mask with the swine one for my hunting outfit. Just that, the vest in the pics above and the leather pants (barefoot). 

I don't think I'll ever use the pumpkin one though, just got it for possible rarity value.

Stupid masks were obviously widely used outside of theatre back in the old west.

This could have been one game that kept it real, now we're going to see people wearing this crap and spoiling the realism for the rest of us because we're forced together with 12 year olds.

As a limited time Halloween only thing, they'd be cool, people could dress up as some freaky stuff for a week or two. Seeing people ride around in those things all year round though? Yea, ew.

 

Which I fully expect people to do, by the way, as seen in GTAO a lot of players have the mentality of "I must something in every available clothing slot even if I look like hell doing it". Seeing people around the entire RDO world in those things is gonna be the game wide equivalent of sitting down at a blackjack table in the casino in GTAO and the three people alongside you are all in masks and tactical gear. So much for an immersive world.

Did they mix up the Read Dead Halloween update with the GTA one or something? 

 

ETA: In the middle of the legendary bounty and a message popped up saying I had yet another (horror) mask added. 

What did I do to deserve this? (And I don't mean that in a positive way)

The worst part is some of these actually DO look cool, and fit. And with the right set of people, and outfits, could work well for a gang or group.

 

Some interesting 'cult' like gang, some bandits who wear pig masks.. a bunch of creepy Saint Denis-like members dressed all fancy with their 'Eyes Wide Shut' masquerade masks .. but then they have to throw a wrench in it by having tons of options that have bright obnoxious colors that just wouldn't have been feasible back then.

This literally does look like they've loaded a texture in Photoshop and pressed Ctrl+i to invert colors.

 

What's this even supposed to be anyway? While it's an abomination either way, at least the light version with red streaks has some form of context. This is just lazy bloat that nobody asked for.

All I can say is...., Gee. Thanks for listening, Rockstar, because this is what we've all been waiting for........ what a waste of time, money and efforts of the dev team to ruin one of the most breathtaking open world sceneries I've experienced in a game.

Yeah, who wants the Trapper clothing from SP, Ponchos like Javier's from SP or Native American face paint when we can have sh*tty Halloween masks?

 

Actually, speaking of NA face paint, the way R* are going with cosmetics half the options would probably look more at home in a 90's rave than on a NA warrior.

Some of these masks honestly aren’t too bad, but the ones on the more flourescent side of the color wheel look completely out of place. 

 

I had a bad feeling Rockstar was going to have more of a drought feed instead of a drip feed after the Summer update.

 

The implementation of roles and the Outlaw Pass was a big pat on the back for themselves, so I imagine they must feel justified with the noticeable lack of limited clothing options as of late.

It's not so much the masks existing for me, although I dislike them. As @Jasonsaid, if they were seasonal items, like Christmas clothing in GTAO, where the sweaters, hats, masks etc. we're free and only in game for a couple of weeks, then that would be fine. Let players fill their Halloween boots, then take the items out of the game until next year.

 

As these masks are gifts, paid for, and can be paid for in gold, it looks like they'll be available at all times, which means, unfortunately, when loading up a mission for some good ol' western shootout fun in 6 months time, we'll be stuck in a cut scene for Destroyed by Grief with at least 1 tw*t in a pig mask. Bye bye immersion.

I always found it so ridiculous how in gta heists neither the heist giver, or our characters, seem to have any issues with one of their teammates showing up to the briefing in a monkey mask and invisible ankles.
