My apologies. I actually haven't paid attention to the thread I'm in since I use that notification thing to take me to posts.

No need to apologize, it wasn't directed at you. I think we all know who that post was directed at.

In saying that, I don't wanna do a Buddy Hightower and start adding people to my ignore list because it's starting to get out of hand, especially when people are quoting that person and it clogs up a whole page(s) of useless sh*t to trawl through.

It feels sorta pointless posting speculation about the next updates here, when your comments are just going to get drowned out by some kind of bizarre debate about business performance.   Perhaps we should start a thread for people with MBA’s who hold Take2 stock.  Otherwise this is spam and ruining the best thread here.

Well, I certainly keep it going. My bad. I'll start paying attention to what thread I'm in.

The thread is about Red Dead Online, we don't have to keep talking about the summer DLC, we can talk about the event week, Red Dead Online future, Red Dead Online performance and etc Rockstar announced the update a week ago, I don't think there is anything to talk about right now

The f*cked up thing about all this?

We're close to something (admittedly small) coming, and with news of more later in the year of course, and this thread is still all about the back and forth of numbers, numbers that really are too vague to make some claims too.

Don't get me wrong, it can be entertaining to me, though it can be hard work when at times there's nothing but a single line of nothing really, and I get it is frustrating for others as well.

But it says alot about the game when even DLC news can't cause more hype.

Looking at the GTA thread compared. Much the same (in that it'll get a little fluff before a summer DLC later), and that thread springs into life with great ideas, speculation, hopes and what-not, wish lists, and a bit if the ol' back and forth like we're seeing too.

That's how you know people are keen, it's just so alive. This game really does need that. And I truly hope we get there asap! :)

The past few weeks now you have clogged up this thread with statistics and numbers adding nothing new. Take a hint at the reception and the reactions you are getting every time you make one of these analytical posts. Nobody wants to read it.

Go and start a thread in a different section somewhere so you can lead a discussion about sales and figures for RDO and GTAO.

Most of people post negativity, most of them say the update will be some telegram missions or stranger missions, nobody talks about anything, I don't see anything thing except " don't get your hopes high" " Rockstar won't deliver " there Is nothing to talk about

Lol, yeah I feel ya. It's a bit limited.

That said, if R* add some non combat ones and/or give a bit more freedom on them (like choosing which course or type of race), I can't lie that I'd be keen.

Would see me reset my MTU back to normal to join others. 🤣

I could do races but I'm a bit too tall to be a jockey.

Actually though, just regular racing without adding this or that to them would be cool. Like the races Arthur had but with real players.

R* will monetize the summer update so the notion that it will just be stranger or telegram missions is not really thought through.

It will require at least 25 Gold to buy in to the Outlaw and robbery content, most likely in the form of a property.

Even though Rockstar hasn't specifically said "Role", I still think it will be a role. Roles in the end are just frameworks for gold pay wall and a seperate XP progression with new items to buy.

did you read my post speculating about content before you posted a dozen more about numbers?

also, when you like a TV show or something like that, do you try to speculate about its future based on the network parent company earning calls?  Fools errand.  You don’t know what’s happening inside the company, or their timeline for maximizing profit on this investment.  You’ve done enough speculating about the business for a while.  Same goes for folks on the other side too.  We just don’t know and earning calls aren’t a reliable source of information and they weren’t intended to be.  Every word is carefully parsed and considered by a team of lawyers, the risks of disclosing info early are massive.

I'd say there's a bigger Showdowns community than there is a race community, but I agree with your point in general.
My point still stands though: why allocate any resource at all to content that's only appreciated by a very small portion of the player base? I don't understand.

The bigger context of my problem with these 8 new races is: since Moonshiners we haven't been getting enough content, not enough content many players want, and not enough quality content. These races are a continuation of that trend. Too bad.

Why not? These new races would've been made over the last month or so. At that point, the next update was probably in much earlier stages that some devs like designers had the time to come up with side content like these races. I don't think they would go along with this if it slowed down the development of the next update, nor would I assume it would boost the development process either.

This type of content is made with a creator mode. Showdowns, races, telegram missions. The latter is more restrictive than the former two, but all of them are limited in some way or shape. Also, when it comes to Showdowns, don't expect new modes as I believe that would require a new update. What we may get are new maps or hardcore versions for already existing modes. Nothing too significant that would cater to the majority of what the community want.

The limited scope of the creator mode wouldn't bring you the quality content you're asking for, so may as well, appeal to the small portion of the community if it doesn't affect the development of the next update.

I can agree it can get negative, but also strongly believe people have good reasoning to be cautious rather than optimistic with RDRO of late. I can't fault the negative some have. Me, I'm more cynical and just have no expectations, R* haven't given me reason to here. GTA though, I know I'll enjoy something of this smaller spring addition simply because it offers more variety. (And control due to lobby freedom and hosting/settings options on these new modes)

I mean, Like RDRO, GTA is getting a few new races soon, but GTA is also getting more survivals (something many have been long requesting in RDRO), new Deadline adversary maps too, and it got promo news about exclusive bits coming with the summer content to start getting ready for the re-release as well. It just has much more to offer over the coming months, RDRO desperately needs that plan/news.

Plus GTA has proven itself often too. If they say big, it usually is. Heists, Doomsday, freeroam businesses, casino, island, music, cars/vehicles, the arena, all of them bigger DLC really added something while offering other bits for those less keen on the theme. Cars/vehicles being a big aspect of that other content of course, but often new missions or new races in the dripfeed, new maps for modes, lots of clothing including unlockables, property/storage, it's rare a GTA DLC doesn't offer more than just what the main theme is.

RDRO shows a little promise by having those telegram missions in the dripfeed, but it needs much more, more often.

And though I enjoy the naturalist role, to me it feels like something that should have been day one in the game and not promoted as a huge addition as it largely consists of what beta players were doing since launch anyway, or during the story mode before, hunting and selling, lol. Re-using the story compendium as 'new' isn't too inspired IMHO.

I mean, certainly trying to say 10 extra levels of bounty hunter role at Christmas is 'huge' was a missed opportunity. R* knows from GTA that bigger DLC is a good draw at Christmas, but more so, the players know to expect a bigger DLC then, particularly those used to GTA's way of adding content.

I do agree with you, but 100% back and understand the more negative/critical posters too. Only R* can fix that and they seem to not be in any hurry to. Seems odd to me given how GTA shatters records with jyst a little more effort from them (as GTA is far from perfect in communication too).

Lowkey I'm actually kind of looking forward to the races tomorrow. Just to have something new to play and a reason to finally finish the pass (if they don't extend it). OP5 is hard to level up, not only because the rewards are not interesting, but also because we didn't get new content alongside it. For OP3 and 4 we at least got Naturalist role and BH extension.

They could just have us need to buy a robbery bag of some sort for 15-25 gold to get access to any telegrams too.

Plus any new outlaw pass(es) naturally. I'm open minded on how they'll offer the new stuff.

One idea I like is where we buy a property or shack and due to our experiences, we start collecting/buying/stealing items to dress the place up.

Always thought the casino penthouse in GTA was R*'s way of testing that aspect. I hope they do something like this soon. Be a great way to get players both playing and spending, plus it can forever be added to.

The last time they teased an update for RDO this early was frontier pursuits and it was around the same time of the year. Also the game is in a lot more of a stable state now than it was when FP came out.

They might be moving away from roles 🤷🏽‍♂️ they might sell us a property or something like they do in GTAO and have us go from there.

Man I hope so! Roles are boring as f*ck. Just give us more businesses like the Trader and Moonshiner

If it is indeed locked behind a pay wall then I suppose it woukd be cool if we had to buy a property where we basically can plan the robbery missions and stuff similiar to the appartments in GTA.

Also I wonder what the payout if the high stakes robbery missions will be? I hope its not something like the Saint Denis bank where you only get like 20 dollars for robbing one if the biggest banks in the game.

Personally I would like it if they followwd the GTA formula where the big jobs take some time to prep and execute, but have a big payday.

These new missions sounds like the Outlaw version of the Infamous Bounties. Hopefully, filled with tons of unique missions. Another thing is the payout adjustment to the Bounty Payouts with the latest update. Makes me gain hope that these Outlaw missions wouldn't have "the longer you take, the higher your reward" kind of payout.

Also, since it sounds like our base of operations would be in Saint Denis, a prison jailbreak mission to infiltrate Sisika Penitentiary would be a welcome addition.

I do agree that its harder than the previous passes due to the reasons you provided however I do not believe it is hard to finish. I never bought the pass but I still managed to max it out. I also do not play much as I'm constantly away from home up to 2 weeks at a time with work. As a veteran player though I do not find it hard as I can do a few long distance trader deliveries, few moonshine deliveries, sell a few collectables and I'm done, with all this in mind I finished the pass with about a week left to spare and I know if I actually played everyday it would of been much faster.

I can imagine for a new player though it would be pretty tough or for someone who has not maxed all their roles.

Its a tough call with the payout as they want to make it relevant for players but not make it overpowering so that all the previous content becomes obsolete. Doesn't help though with the drought that players are going from one small piece of content to the next rather than like frontier pursuits where players could go in different directions.

That's what I was hoping our camp would be like or at least the moonshine shack but it doesn't seem to be the route that Rockstar takes. They would rather just sell camp 'skins' for gold than have us actually play the game and find the materials to upgrade it, they would rather sell us moonshine shack skins than have us decorate our moonshine shack with the heads of legendry animals that we kill. Even the role outfits are just 'skins' that we can not pull apart. I really hope they move away from this route as it comes across a lot like a f2p game where you spend money on skins.

So let's say we get to purchase a small property and perhaps set of tools for gold bars to initiate the path working for Guido? Do you guys think it a mansion is suitable for such missions? I personally think a small shack with an underground basement would be more suitable than a mansion when going for heists in this setting. I mean it's good and all since it works in GTAO but I think it's a little out of place spending a fortune for a mansion only to rob and earn less than what we paid initially.
